Xbox One, without Kinect, available for pre-order

You gamertag is your name on live not your full email :)

Just checked online, it is ManofGod1000

Thank you. As much as I am happy with my Xbox one, I hope that Sony give their PS4 owners the same love soon. :)

Ps4 beats Xbox one in sales for the 4th month in a row!!

Congratulations on making the better system and dominating this console generation Sony!

Microsoft managed to steal the crown last time even though they built a faulty system but apparently couldn't repeat that victory...better luck next time around.

Personally, I think the X1 has the better titles right now. Enjoy my X1 way more than I did the PS4.

I like both but my X1 is on all the time since it now contols my media center pc and all my tuners.

Definitely playing more on it but I did buy Wolfenstein on ps4 since it is 53.99 with ps+
Bought watchdogs for X1 since I'll get more multiplayer with friends there.

With Mario kart dropping to its a good month for games.

Looks like a remastered Halo 1 - 4 title will be coming out to the Xbone this year:

http://www.engadget.com/2014/05/16/halo-the-master-chief-collection/?ncid=rss_truncated

Should be cool (hopefully it's true too). It'll be a huge game, so I'm curious what sort of graphical overhaul they'll have.

This would be crazy. The general consensus seems to be that Microsoft was going to release an HD remake of Halo 2, while everybody waits for Halo 5 to come out in 2015. To have all four games in one set would be pretty amazing.

Damn you beat me to it:)
this is really awesome I have a feeling this E3 is gonna rock Phil walks out games games games drops the mic.

:D Just so I know, how do I know when I have received the invite? Thanks.

Microsoft won in NA, UK and Australia last gen but Sony won WW. I'm fairly confident Microsoft will close the gap in those same countries eventually but it'll never be 2:1 like last gen.

I'm actually surprised the PS4 is doing as well as it is in NA. It only has a 500k lead so unless Sony has some huge news at E3 Halo might bring the Xbox back into play in those same countries.

They are getting destroyed by the PS4, hence the reason for dropping the Kinect.

Sales have plummeted and they only sold 115k Xbox Ones in April. Next month they may sell more 360's than they do Xbones.

360:
April 2006 - 295K
April 2007 - 174K
April 2008 - 188K
April 2009 - 175K
April 2010 - 185K
April 2011 - 297K
April 2012 - 236K
April 2013 - 130K

Xbox One:
April 2014 - 115K

It's still young and it may be too soon to call it a failure but... it's gonna take more than just removing the kinect to start sailing strong. ;)

At this point, for me at least, there would need to be a good game that was only on the xbone for me to purchase the xbone. If it's a multiplatform game then of course I would get the ps4 because the game will run better and look better.

Pretty much this - I have a 360 and a handful of titles (mostly forza) but I never turn the damn thing on because gaming on crossfire 290's at 1440p is so much sexier and fun.

The price drop is in the right direction, and I've never been a huge playstation guy. There are many good games coming out on EVERY platform this summer. So I'm not in any rush.

Honestly though I need to buy some gravel and a new attic stairway door and rennovate my garage into something sexy/clean/modern, so 400 dollars on a system i will rarely play is a low priority.

A lot of the low sales can also be attributed to a smaller market where the XONE is sold compared to the PS4. Japan won't get the XONE until later this year, and Microsoft is now considering halting XONE production most likely to sell existing unsold stock.

I'd get an XONE, myself, mostly because of the exclusive games. The removal of the Gold paywall for streaming services and the lowered price without the Kinect included does make it a tempting buy. I'd still get a PS4 first, however, over an XONE. Not because of brand loyalty but because historically there are lot of JRPGs that I enjoy playing and more often than not, Sony's Playstation systems have gotten more JRPGs than the 360. I've been playing JRPGs since the 8-bit NES and is one of my favorite genres that I enjoy playing, and I have a PS1, PS2, and PS3 because of those games. If there is an XONE-exclusive JRPG for the system, then it would give me a reason to get it.

You'll get the invite thru the Xbox one in a message.

Thank you for the heads up. You were right, it could take a while for the invite to come through. (No message yet.) It is fantastic to see all the new stuff on the way as well as the improvements to the base OS.

Is DLNA support in now for the XB1? Haven't fired up either console in months.

I personally could never stand that split screen coop crap that was pushed. I could barely see what was going on and even then, you could never follow which part was yours a lot of times. Now, doing a LAN with consoles, that I could get behind.

In that case I would rather have a real LAN party, aka with PC's. I get a console to make gaming easier when I don't want to do anything except sit down and game.

Also, there is private messaging on this forum, you guys don't need to have your personal conversations in here. (Also, I would remove your email since it can be picked up by spammers)

Thank you for the heads up on the email part. However, the other part in my opinion ends up letting others know what to do if they want in.

Play to from a windows pc or tablet has worked since day one, but as of yet there is no media app like on the 360. Everyone in the beta has been vocal about this and other features its all being worked on they have been very receptive to our feedback and requests.

Sony hasn't said shit and has no similar program to listen to request or feedback unfortunately

Oh I thought we were talking about numbers in total, not specific places. Sony won.

Lol, do you think Xbox one being released in Japan is going to change their numbers by much?

Goodness gracious, make one small statement about Sony doing better and you get all kinds of naysayers coming out of the woodwork getting into specifics that are irrelevant and splitting hairs and grasping straws haha...

I'm not really a console guy but yikes, its more serious than I thought!!!

Bringing up Sony in a thread about Xbox one having a 399 SKU is kinda thread crapping and borderline trolling though isn't it? Why can't you all just stop the console war crap?

Unlikely, because the 360 even didn't do so well in Japan either.

The point I was trying to make was that with the number of markets that the PS4 is sold in is much greater than the XONE. Microsoft hasn't even started selling in Japan yet, either. If the saying, "Every little bit counts," holds true in business, then they should have launched at Japan at the same time as the PS4-- compete on the home turf of Japan. Even if the PS4 sold 200,000 units in Japan, for example, compared to XONE's 65,000 units in that country, it's still money made regardless.

Why they didn't launch in Japan at the same time as the US or in as many markets as the PS4 is something that puzzles me especially if you are expecting to compete in the same market as your competitor.

It might've been a kinect issue, like ensuring that kinect's voice commands worked with a variety of languages. Or perhaps the TV aspect of the console requires regional fine tuning.

Yar, it'd be kinda nice to see less of the hostility towards each other. As for PC gamers that claim to be above such console-like fanboyism, all you need to do is visit the GPU and CPU forum areas to see the same type of behavior.

Wasn't the languages that the Kinect can understand through voice commands one of the issues for delaying it in certain markets? If my memory is correct, I think there was a news article about it around or near the time of the XONE launch. Would that have limited the number of available markets that the XONE is sold in?

Yar, looks like it was: http://www.joystiq.com/2013/08/27/report-xbox-one-regional-delays-due-to-kinect-localization-issu/

Another reason that perhaps it wasn't the greatest idea to bundle the kinect in with every system at launch.

Actually I was the last person to bring it up and only added on to what many others had already been talking about. Re-read the thread and you'll in fact see that Sony was brought in long before (and actually had been bashed numerous times) so I simply decided to introduce the numbers game to the equation.

For not being a console guy you sure seem pretty invested on the PS4 side. Perhaps next time, try not stirring the pot. The X1 team seems dedicated to changing things and making things better and they actually have an excellent beta program with lots of serious discussions and feedback. So there is some good from it, but hey you're not a console guy so you probably don't care.

The Japanese won't buy the Xbox One, at least not in numbers to make any difference.

OT but Well they haven't been buying the PS4 either

I've lived in Japan and a reason why PC/Console gaming isn't that popular is because most Japanese prefer portable gaming. It's something that they can take with them on the go (eg: when commuting), is cheaper, and smaller.

It would explain the larger mobile market there compared to other platforms, and why companies like Square-Enix, Capcom, and even Nintendo are making games for smartphones and tablets in Japan.

They didn't launch in all those countries because of language localization with Kinect. That's changing now so that's why you have them launching in a ton of countries later this year.

Microsoft releasing in other countries won't do anything to bring them up to PS4 levels. The only way that happens is of they can manage to win NA, UK and Australia again 3:1 or so and that's not happening. They have always done poorly everywhere else.

Dropping Kinect and putting Spencer in charge was the best thing they could have possibly done and I'm glad they did it finally.

I keep saying this over and over again in different threads but Japanese gamers are no longer interested in home consoles. They spend their entire day at school/work and when they come home they eat and then sleep. The weekends are mostly just further study and/or second jobs. Japanese culture is moving away from home consoles and is completely embracing portable solutions (either proprietary like 3DS or Android/iOS games).

I think we need to STOP using Japan as a gauge for anything related to home consoles. The west is obviously more interested BY FAR. I mean you know its a sign of change when Sony launches everywhere else in the world MONTHS a head of its own native country for the Playstation. I remember when the Playstation was absolutely a Japanese foundation and expectation for gamers in Japan and now things have changed.
