XBox One Owners' Thread (First Impressions, Thoughts, You Happy?)

I think the general consensus is if the launch stuff is not what you want to play then wait for it . Some people seem to get all riled up if you dont agree. the ps4 and wii u thread seems to be more rife with that shit. I will wait for a few changes to kinect and some tweaks to the ui to make it nighttime neighbour friendly as yelling xbox commands at 2am will draw too much attention

It's nighttime friendly when you pickup the controller.

I am currently using my XB1 as a Forza machone if you ever want to hit me up. My gamertag is junehhan. Only a couple of my friends like racing games, so I could use another drivatar in my single player races.

Sure thing I'll add you. My Gamertag is Tassadin, will do so after work tonight.

I've had my XB1 for a couple weeks now and I am very happy with my purchase. Currently playing through Lego Marvel Superheroes and having a blast with it. :)

Got one yesterday. So far, so good. The interface is a little odd, but I'm used to it now. I still need to setup all of the TV stuff, though. It's definitely a decent jump over the 360/PS3 and a bit of a jump over the WiiU, too.
I've been tinkering with the new KI and I kinda like it, even if I despise the old ones. This one is like the good parts of the old KI games mixed with SF4.

I picked one up a few days ago and my kids and i are enjoying it. We've played forza 5,ryse, fifa and the demo wave runner game all have been fun. I getting used to the interface and i have it synced up with my fios and panny Plasma perfectly. No complaints so far.

I've had my xbox one in my room since it came out and the kinect has been working fine. I moved it out to the living room for the holidays since I have family visiting from Arizona and even after re-calibrating the audio now half of my kinect commands don't register. It was pretty embarrassing after hyping it up to them for the past few weeks. Even after the disappointment of the commands not working they really liked it and they were blown away when we were watching Monday night football while playing madden 25 lol.

I really enjoyed playing Ryse (It was a rental, and I beat it pretty quickly). I thought it was a pretty decent game to play. Nothing to phone home about, but enjoyable while it lasted. I'm currently playing Dead Rising 3 and I'm not sure what to think. I think its a pretty fun game, but I get way too side tracked killing unlimited amounts of zombies.. lol

Where do you sign up? I don't see the million :(.

Edit - I see it now. Woot! Thanks for the link.

I got the both the Xbox One and PS4 on Tuesday. So far I'm enjoying the Xbox more. I like the A/V functionality and the demos in addition to the interface, which is nice once you spend a few minutes figuring it out. IMO, it's a more polished experience so far.

I really did not want RYSE i thought it was dumb and monotonus. I was scared of it being like dantes inferno which got boring fast......

ITS NOT.... good thing i got it. I enjoy it alot.

System is still incomplete,. but i enjoy it

I sold my ps4 and got a xbone today because all my friends bought one and I need people I know to play with. Really liking the xbone more then the ps4, the controller is so much better.

Bought bf4 and I suck at it but I do like it. My buddy bought ryse and I watched him play it today and i didn't like it at all. The GF played the dead rising 3 demo and absolutely loved it. Shes buying DR3 this Friday actually which is cool, one less game for me to buy and we get to spend some time gaming which is cool.

The ui I don't like too much but I'm sure it will get better over time. I do like the system and TV functions tho and the only thing I miss from the ps4 is resogun.

Finally got home from the holiday and hooked up my Xbox One I got on Xmas. So far so good. The TV integration is kind of cool but overall kind of underwhelmed by it. I will probably not be using the TV integration since it will be mainly connected along with my gaming PC and Xbox 360 to a 24 inch gaming monitor. I will say BF4 is quite the upgrade over the 360 version and enough of a difference to justify the One in my opinion. The controller has more heft and I like it better than the 360 controller. I was leaning towards a PS4 but got the One as a surprise gift. All I mostly care about are the games. I am very pleased with BF4 so far, as for the other multimedia tv stuff I really could care less.

For me, it was a good purchase. I already wanted to get a new BD player for the bedroom and I have a launch 360 with no HDMI. So watching Netflix and Amazon Instant Video in 1080i wasn't all that great. Good, but not great. So I bought the XB1 and I am very hapy with it. BD playback is top notch and streaming for Netflix/Amazon is waaaaaay better than before. :) Besides, I love feeling I get when I issue commands to it. Kinda like Capt. Kirk. :D

Oh 1 more thing, the mic that is included is leagues better than the previous bundled mic with the 360. Much more clear. I can hear everything going on in the background at my brother's house when we play BF4.

Yup figured it out after posting... I guess I had to finish some races... that and because I've never backed out to the main menu lol.

they never really present it as an option. took me a while to figure it out as well too. My Bro got me the LCE for Christmas, so I got to pick a car for free on Turn10's page. seemed to glitch and ended up with two Lotus E21's. :D just waiting for an auction house to start an i'll unload one.

overall I am happy with my Xbone, just wish my cable boxes HDMI out worked and it would be a perfect setup.

I think it's their voice channel and not just the mic. Voice chat is land-line phone quality now.

Vice chat is amazing now, way better then before and way better then it is on the ps4

I had a quick go on an XB1 playing COD Ghosts and Forza.
Forza played and looked good but there was a fair bit of aliasing.
Load times are atrocious, really bad. These are loading from hard drive as well, what the??
Tried to play BF4 but it forced an update on us which didnt finish before I had to go so didnt get chance to see it.

That's the biggest thing I can tell from my son's Xone and my PS4, the Xone installs slower and is much slower booting up a game from the dashboard but possibly could be fixed in a firmware upgrade.

How is it better now? I still don't understand why it defaults to game chat. Why would I join a party to be in game chat channel?

He probably means quality. The Party system in general needs a complete overhaul. Or just revert it to the way the 360 does parties.

Starting to wish I had never bought this system. Ironically,it's not so much the console itself but the horrid support. I bought it for my son for Christmas, set it up without much difficulty, though I passed on the connection to my cable box due to the problems I read about and the lack of a true pass through connection. The system performed well enough, though the voice command feature is very hit or miss, the Kinect clearly needs a lot of work. The initial update and game installs didn't seem terribly long, and it automatically detected my Live account and my son's gamer profile from his 360. He only had the basic Live account,so I bought a prepaid 12 Month Gold membership and activated it without problem. And then the real problem started.
A few hours later,I was checking my e-mail,and found a message from MS showing my account had been billed $59.00 for a Gold membership. I called support, and explained that I had already paid for the account when I bought the prepaid card. The rep agreed I shouldn't have been charged. He explained that in order to remove the charge,he had to deactivate my current Gold membership, and would send me a code to activate a new one. The problem is when I tried to redeem the code,I got an error message saying my account had been locked. After multiple calls and hours on the phone in which I seemed to be the only one doing the work of verifying every aspect of my account, there's been no resolution. All they can do is agree the errors were all on their part,my account shouldn't be locked, but are incapable of solving anything. And my son is unable to use any Live features, can't purchase any extra game content,or redeem any codes. Nice going,MS.

There was someone on Reddit who had the same problem as you. Or maybe it was you? Apparently it's an issue MS is having right now.

I didn't read all of the posts, but for those using TV integration. For the guide and DVR functionality, does it really require XB Live Gold?

I do HDTV OTA and I've already found an OTA tuner than can output via HDMI (so I can connect to the XBONE) but I don't want to waste my time if it requires Gold since I have not other reason to want or need Gold.

Yeah, it's just the sound quality that has improved. The chat system with parties is actually a complicated mess. If you're playing different games it names your parties different things and it's not a very friendly menu either. That will probably be tweaked, or so I'd assume. They changed that 4-5 times over the course of the 360's lifespan.
Still, the sound quality on the Xbox One voice chat is stellar. It's clearer than most cell connections. If you own multiple consoles, it's actually better to use the Xbox One's chat while playing games on other systems. The bandwidth it uses is negligible.

I have had mine now for just a few weeks, I switched over from the PS3, tired of all the bs from Sony, gunna weed through the bs from MS right now. Although I still may get a PS4, will have to see how it goes. Anyway, here are a few of my impressions.

1) Setup. This was the most disappointing part of the Xbone for me. The first problem right off the bat is that the Kinect2 cable is far too short for my setup. I have a 20 ft run from my AV rack to my projection screen. I had to setup the XBone right under the screen instead of in the AV rack. So that was a bit disappointing, although I was kind of expecting that. That required me to order some extra long HDMI cables in order to try the TV passthrough, which I still haven't gotten a chance to setup (and honestly which I don't really need, but wanted to try it out anyway). Next when I turned it on to set it up, it required the update, as expected, so no big deal... But, then it failed to do the update. It setup the network fine, got an internet connection fine, connected to MS fine, but kept failing the update. To MS's credit though, they did have some pretty easy troubleshooting steps...once you can find them. Because apparently some genius decided to change the link to the help section that was listed in their documentation, so I had to find the 'new' link to the section I needed. Irritating, but once I got there and followed all the steps, I was able to correct the problem (though it did take some work and required a USB boot drive with the update patched on it). The other little tidbit here is that I get intermittent problems with the HDMI where it sometimes does not recognize the audio properly and so I have to switch back and forth on my receiver channels every now and then. Most of the time it works and the sound is really good, but occassionally I get the glitch. Minor, but irritating. After all that, the rest was simple and now that it is setup, I haven't had many more issues, just that occassional glitch with the HDMI.

2) Download options. By far this has been one of the best features of the new generation. I only bought one game with the console (Forza), I downloaded all the others I have. The downloads were far quicker than I expected and the installs were quick. The updates took a little longer than I expected, all in all though, very good. I did have a problem trying to order games back to back initially, but that seemed to be a glitch. Since that day I haven't had that problem again.

3) Loading times. I did not notice any of the problems others have mentioned on loading times. All of my games load pretty quickly for a console. Much quicker than the PS3 and roughly close to what I see with other's PS4s. Also the sleep function has worked extremely well, and the system comes back up quickly from sleep. It takes me maybe about 20 seconds to go from the Xbox sleep to actually being in a game. So not sure what others are talking about with the load times.

4) Video Streaming. There were some good and bad things here. The streaming overall has been very good. I get full 1080p streaming and it works fairly seemlessly. I installed my NetFlix, HuluPlus, Amazon Prime and all work well, better than the did on the PS3. However, the Amazon Instant Video will only let me access Prime shows/movies and those that I own. It will not allow me to browse and/or buy new releases or non-Prime movies/shows. I have to buy them online first then I can go in and stream them. This is a little aggravating as I got fully functionality for this on my PS3.

5) Controller. The controller has been great. Far better than the DS3 from my PS3 as far as the feel and use. The rumble built into this controller is a little weak, but is interesting in how it has some directionality to it so it sort of feels like the action is coming from the left or right, or all around. I am still getting used to the buttons, I am so used to the PS3 controller layout that I find myself hitting the wrong buttons occassionally in games. The complaints I have are mainly just 2. The first being I already had to change out the batteries in the controller after only a few weeks of moderate use at best. Maybe it was the batteries that came with the controller, I don't know, but that was dissappointing. I would have liked it more if the controller was rechargeable like the PS3 controllers I have. I will have to look into making that happen. Second, I don't like the top trigger buttons on the XBone controller. They just don't feel right and sometimes it is hard to press them quickly when you need a quick twitch action on them. They just feel too hard to depress and a squishy action at the same time. But given that the controller feels better in my hands and I using the sticks wasn't as difficult a change from the DS3 I was used to, overall I am quite happy with it.

6) Gameplay. The games have been great on the system, they all feel fluid and quick. The graphics are good and I haven't had any issues yet with lag, tearing, ghosting or blurring. I even rebought Madden 25 for the Xbone (I had it on the PS3 and I am a sucker). I have to say, I enjoy it far more now. It is so much faster and better on the Xbone imho. The gameplay and most of the graphics are roughly the same, but they added some stadium and background features that make it a little better, the sound is better, and the menus, simulation, game speed is all far better. Also the sound for all the games has been really good, better than the PS3 for sure.

The things I still have to try is some more online play, mostly trying out the cooperative with chat enabled so I can see what others here are fussing about. I hated the chat system with PS3 and their online social offering was just trash. I have a feeling I may be a bit dissappointed with the party to game chat like others commented, but that is still heads and shoulders over what PS3 had. Haven't seen PS4s setup for that yet, hopefully they fixed it. Also have not tried the pass through for TV yet, I was waiting on some new long HDMI cables as explained above. Also I am still quite dissappointed I can't use my third party racing wheel with the XBone, that is quite upsetting. But I guess I will get over that.

Overall I am happy with Xbone so far. I had some annoying things, but the games and streaming have worked almost flawlessly and getting in/out and around the menus and UI has actually been really quick, fluid, and easy. I also like the UI much better than the UI on the PS3 and I like it better than the PS4s UI as well. I honestly wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the UI, but I actually like it and find it helpful.

Not me on Reddit, but it doesn't seem to be an isolated problem. The infuriating part of it is support's total inability to identify the cause, let alone find a solution. I really don't think MS was prepared to handle the increased support requests for a new system added to all of those for the 360.

I really doubt that has much to do with it (the increased support requests that is). This sounds like a pretty typical problem for services like this, and I have encountered it a few times with other like services. The problem comes in with the initial setup. When the account is initially setup on the new system, if it isn't done properly it causes a glitch in the system. Then when the automatic systems try to process it, it ends up changing the account structure. This typically results in the error in billing. Then the next mistake comes when the online rep wants to "redo" the account. The old account then gets locked so they can disable and create a new account. However, the system then gets confused with 2 accounts. It creates and never ending loop. Unfortunately usually the tier 1/2 people don't truly understand the logistics behind the problem and therefore incorrectly identify it to the tier 3 and up personnel. The tier 3+ personnel just fix the problem according to the ticket they get, rather than fully investigating the whole problem.

All in all its quite frustrating when you are the customer and this problem happens. I have been dealing with this exact problem with a certain service for over 3 years now with no resolution. If I wasn't paying so little for the service to begin with, I would have dropped it a long time ago. However, that is the extreme, I have had this problem with other services and had it resolved quicker as well.

For future reference, when they want to do something like this, don't go that route. Ask for the money to be refunded straight with no account resets/recreations/etc, or if they don't want to do a straight refund, ask to talk to a higher tier personnel right off the bat.

Everything requires gold just about

This is why I second guess buying it every time I am looking at it. Even though I have enough store credit to buy the XB1 and multiple games, I just can't bring myself to buy gold.

The GF played the dead rising 3 demo and absolutely loved it.

Are demos out now? A bunch of the gaming podcasts I listen to said there were no demos on the Xbox One yet.
