Hi everyone, first timer here. I'm a basic user, so I appreciate you guys providing a forum for helping people like me. Thanks to all who help in advance!
Below are the details of my build. If you can provide 2 options for each component, I’d appreciate it so that I can make some final adjustments based on price/quality considerations.
1) Purpose:
Lots of video streaming; lots of open browser tabs; midrange gamer (starcraft 2, some modern games, etc); some basic photo/video editing
2) $800 budget, but can be flexible (including cheapest shipping) (I can pick up at Frys or get someone to pick up at a Microcenter)
3) Needed parts:
- CPU (Microcenter choices: i7 4820k [$270], i7 4770k [$250], i7 3770k [$250], i5 4670k [$200], i5 4570 [$160]);
- Mobo (Bundles at Microcenter for reference: Mobo-CPU bundles);
- RAM;
- modular PSU (silent and reliable are my priorities);
- SSD (top choice: Samsung 840 Pro unless other recommendations?);
- GPU (I’m only considering evga);***
- dvd drive
*** I currently have a 9800gtx+ video card. Is it worth upgrading or can I play games at somewhat high levels for the next few years still? If no need to upgrade what is the best evga gpu for around $50-$100 that can run Starcraft 2 so that I can reuse and replace the 9800gtx+?
4) Reusing: sound card, secondary hdd, atx case
5) NO overclocking
6) Monitor: 1680x1050, 22” (may upgrade in next few years to a 1080p, 24”+ monitor)
7) Immediate build for black Friday/cyber Monday deals
8) Features:
-YES: USB 3.0, SATA 6Gb/s
-NO: RAID, Firewire, Crossfire or SLI
-PREFERABLE: onboard video, eSATA
9) Currently using 32bit Windows 7, but 64bit is available if you recommend >4GB RAM.
Is it a pain to use a 64bit OS still? As in, will I have trouble finding drivers and getting programs to run?
