I have my Vcore set manually at a static 1.190 volts in the BIOS even though the BIOS states the stock Vcore is 1.305 volts. During Prime95, the Vcore drops to 1.116 volts and I get no BSOD or anything. My 3930K turbos to 3.8 GHz across all cores during load.

I just got my RMA'd cooler replacement (H100) and my idle temps are 18-24 C, BIOS CPU temp is 28 C, and my temp during IntelBurnTest is maxes out at around 44 C.

I played a 24 minute round of Battlefield 3 multiplayer and the max temps ranged between 35-38 C. During Battlefield 3, the Vcore was around 1.124 volts.

Basically, isn't my 3930K taking a lot less Vcore for the speeds it is running at (3.8 GHz with 1.116 volts in Prime95)? I guess I have the temps to back it up too.

low leakage so volts do more, but possibly will not oc as high or be much easier to cook if you do. Generally low leakage don't tend to clock as high, but stay cooler and use less power, high leakage run hotter need more power but also can usually clock a good margin higher.

Maybe its the same as all the other chips and its just the motherboard you have it in, or GASP! Intel actually did a good application of the thermal flux to attach the heatspreader, SHHHH or they may notice that and fire someone :O

its a 3930K not a 4930K.. sandy-E was good at that point..

undervolting at stock speeds its normal OP, in fact 1.19 its not such low, my work machine Asus P9X79 PRO + 3930K Autovoltage at load range from 1.16V to 1.21v but at the first moment I add any minimal overclock lets say 4.0GHZ the voltage ramp up to 1.35V.. and due to i do not need to overclock in work, i've managed to undervolt to 1.10v with negative offset to keep it cool on loads and idle..

BTW what are you using to measure temps? those temps are kinda unrealistic and seems to be the CPU sockets temp and not CORE temps... unless you are on a 10C Room temp with the H100 fans maxed out

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, those temps do seem kind of unrealistic but I had my A/C blasting at that time and I have my H100's fans (AP-15s) connected directly to the motherboard running at full-speed at the time. Plus, the undervolting helped quite a bit too.

well there is that side of auto controlled voltages, either to much extra heat for nothing, or not enough so it affects stability. Most stock anything including GPU can be devolted some. and yes different chips require different volts and in turn will push X clocks. This is why Intel AMD and all the other makers specifiy a range and a TDP, all chips in a given range are speced to operate at X speed with x voltage in A-B range and average x TDP.

It doesn't matter. Sandy-E, Ivy-E, Haswell-E all get the "good" treatment, it was/is the non E variants the Intel slacked on cause hey what do they care if a part dies after warranty is over.

It seems from those temps alone. He isn't using the full load on P95 on the cpu. I would imagine he is just running the stress test at default. Open up P95 and large FFTs or get Intel Burn test and use maximum amount of memory and report back.

Those IntelBurnTest temps posted in my original post are with it set to "maximum". Note my room was very cold at that time but with normal room temp (around 20-22 C), my Battlefield 3 multiplayer max temps range from 41 to 43 C.
