New York Looking to Regulate 3D Printed Firearms

The New York City Council has introduced legislation designed to control the new grey area of printed firearms. The City Council wants to limit the printing to licensed gunsmiths who would register the newly made firearm with the police within 72 hours. A similar bill is under consideration in the New York State Assembly.
The production of a homemade firearm or ammunition would also circumvent a number of state laws regulating and requiring registration of firearms and magazines.

The government is full of complete morons in the usa. Fact is screw the dam plastic 3d guns just get right size stainless steel tube to fit the ammo you desire to shoot weld a grip to the pipe and have a stetch band with 3 guides circular that is attached to a nail to hit the fire pin on the bullet. Whola and you can shoot it over and over and over. Forget the bs about sneaking a plastic gun on to a airplane the sensors would pick up the fireing pin and you would only be able to shoot the gun maybe 1-3x if your lucky. What a freaking joke this country has become.

The gun legislation we have here in NY is just blatantly stupid. The amount of hoops I have had to jump through to "Re-register" my guns that I have owned for years when I moved from GA to here was just stupid. They literally wanted me to turn in all my guns for "Safe keeping" until I finished getting approved, despite me having a CNC in several other states. That approval process can take 8 months to a year. I told them to fuck right off and kept my guns.

I am sure all criminals will comply with this law as they do with other laws.

Talk about another law that is a completely unenforceable waste of taxpayer money...

Gun control is a failure in its entirety. Fuck New York, California, illinois, DC, Maryland, New Jersey, Connectitcut, Hawaii, and Massachusetts.

Can't forget about Colorado.

Agreed 100 percent. I live here in CA after growing up and going to school in GA. California is one of the most, if not THE most ridiculous states when it comes to gun laws. There is group of "new gun laws" that will most likely be passed in two weeks that straight up outlaw ANY semi-auto rifle, (with magazine)...even the Ruger 10/22!!

The jackass piece of excrement who just went on a shooting rampage in Santa Monica actually purchased an 80% lower receiver online and then drill pressed the remaining 20 percent himself: Just another reason why gun laws don't work. You can't ban the info needed to make these weapons.

Ive seen ar15 receivers made out of kitchen cutting boards and shovels turned into AK receivers.

California must be god awful to live in. They regulate everything apparently.

The wooden floor boards installed recently in my house had California emission notices stamped on the bottom. My new storm door has a California CARB compliant notice printed on the box.

Banning every semi auto will never hold up in court. DC vs Heller specifically stated that firearms suitable for militia use are protected and that the argument that the 2A only protects muzzle loaders and muskets is complete bullshit.

A big fuck you to anyone that wants more gun control.

I purchased my AR about a month ago in anticipation of these new gun laws. I also have a 22 rifle that will become illegal (grandfathered in). One of the other silly new laws is that all handguns sold after Jan 1 2014 will need a biometric type lock on it. This will turn a 500 dollar semi-auto pistol into a 2k dollar pistol. Nice eh? Fucking imbeciles, I swear.

Here are some of the others in CA if anyone wants to feel bad for me:)

Also, 50 bucks and a background check to get ammo! I'm going to be moving in the next 2 years for sure...not because of this, but I probably would consider it nonetheless.

I live in IL. Wife and I looked at some properties in West Virginia near her family. It was just a bit too out of reach. We're stuck here for now.

We used to live in Virginia! WHY'D I MOVE??!?!

I think the big problem is that anti-gun folks get scared by the media because of the misinformation. The government and media SCARE those who know little about firearms into believing anything they want.

Hell, just the fact that they call these guns "assault weapons" is the most absurd thing ever. Talk to an anti-gunner and tell them that 98 percent of all violent gun crimes take place with a .38 or 9mm handgun and they will think you are lying.

I really feel for people in NYC and Chicago.

That's because they believe the gun is responsible. The gun exudes an essence that causes people to do harm and the biggest most detailed guns must be the most potent to causing people to do bad things.

I love all these gun nuts saying "zomg anybody can build a gun from real metal, just go to lowes and by a 3.534 nm torque super driver set, a mini drill press with a compound steel lathe, a diamond tipped router with miter gauge and a torque screw tensioner set, set it to half velocity and adjust the micrometer to 52 degrees, and presto you have yourself a gun.

Hey guess what, I dont know how to do any of that shit, so let me just push a button and have a gun pop out of my easy bake oven. There's a reason you clowns dont own rocket launchers and nuclear bombs, because the complexity and expense required to do so is out of your reach. This is a good thing, and so should be true of gunsmithing for the average idiot. Security through obfuscation is a good thing.

Yeah because clearly the United States would be the powerhouse it is today with nothing left but a bunch of farmers milking cows with what states are left.

Reason #247274027042 never to move to New York, as if I needed another reason. At least here in the South, nobody cares what you have or use.

All you need is a drill.

I would like someone on tv to ask one of these anti gun scum bags a question.
Question is if you had to choose which way someone was going to murder you what weapon would you choose it to be ?
a. Gun
b. Baseball bat
c. Knife
d. Hammer
e. Vehicle

personally I would chose ( A )

Question for you. If you had someone going on a killing spree. Which would you rather he have?

Here in IL Coleen Daley, a gun control advocate, admitted in a house of representatives committee meeting that she would rather depend on her fellow citizens than use a gun to defend herself from a rape. It's on record.

You're trying to equate lawful gun owners with mass murderers. Typical gun hating bullshit.

Would it even really matter to you what that person used? He's still killing people and needs to get shot.

Laws do nothing to prevent crime. Police fail to protect people hundreds, maybe thousands, of times a day. That phrase they have on their cars, "to serve and to protect", is meaningless. Numerous U.S. courts have said so yet the gun haters still want everyone to depend on their beloved and infallible government.

so the message here is, guns are ok as long as you buy them from our major donors/lobbyists

...owning a gun is just as horrible as murder...

Yeah, pretty much this. If someone feels like they have to own a gun, you really have to stop and question their motives and thoughts because they're probably one or two steps away from killing someone. Combine gun ownership with a country lifestyle or violent video games and you've got another person who killed their whole family over bad mashed potatoes or being teased at school. Bottom line - people who have a gun are probably planning to use it to kill something.

Hard to answer. I would rule a and e out at the start but then I am not sure where to go...

I own a few guns and do not "plan" to use them to kill anybody, unless they 1) break into my personal property, 2) attempt harm to me or my loved ones, 3) attempt harm to others in public places.

Meanwhile New York is looking at California with the look of "You're turn." on their faces. If the U.S. would just trim away it's Eastern and Western Coast line, we'll be in good shape.

Good thing I own five.

Liberal logic:

Sugar Land, TX... highest gun ownership rate of any city in the US, highest number of CHLs issued per capita in Texas (excluding minor towns), and yet second lowest crime rate in the United States.

New York.... bans on firearm ownership, yet one of the highest crime rates in the country second to Chicago that also bans all firearms.

Conclusion, we should ban 3D printed firearms, because firearm availability is clearly the problem.
