MS Defends Xbox One

Lol, that quote reeks of "You're holding it wrong" enthusiasm!

MS also called everyone sheep, so I'm not surprised.

Well, they really only had two options:

1.) Defend
2.) Make concessions
(I suppose you could say 3.) Do nothing)

I didn't expect them to make concessions. The only that will happen is if there is a monetary backlash. But they will continue to defend and attempt to convince for a while yet.

Well, they're going to have to do #2 and at least drop the price down to the PS4 price level. Gonna have to be a huge MS nuthugger to pay $100 more for an inferior product.

They may still subsidize it with a 2 year live subscription, say to $299, and it will be cheaper.

Don't doubt for a second that there are millions of them just begging Microsoft to take their money.

Mostly Halo & CoD players.

Oh absolutely, but to each their own yeah?

Myself, I could never understand the appeal of either of those games. I was formally a HUGE Madden fan, until I got older and realized how rediculous EA was for charging $60 year after year for a slightly changed product

Nowadays, my Xbox is used as a DVD player, and the occasional game or two. I will never understand why Microsoft feels the need to have every one of their customers continuously connected to the internet to use their product, but I'm sure the CoD and Halo fans won't mind at all.

So coming from a VERY casual console user, the PS4 looks to be the most appealing product.

I told my friend that I preordered the PS4 and I got a "F%$#.. XB1" I then told him about the hardware performance difference which he didn't know about. He's generally a techy kind of guy so I was surprised, but needless to say pretty much the entire population isn't looking at or doesn't car about the specifications rather which one they have been playing previously.

Halo I get... but isn't CoD multiplatform? Unless I'm wrong on that... I don't really look into it, but I thought it was.

I know it's PC as well ..

I will miss Halo just a little tho.

But fugg it, since it's X86 maybe we will see an Xbone emulator hahahahaaaaaaa

"We do want to support everyone in that system, beginning with the consumer. But we want publishers to get paid for the great IP they work on. We want retailers to be able to drive and sell our products and make a profit. So we are trying to balance across all those."
Well, I think most would agree their "balance" is off. They do need to do a better job "educating" consumers because it makes piss-all sense to me what the benefits are, other then to publishers, retailers and themselves. Anyone have any idea wth they are are going on about? Or is this really all they got as an excuse for being dumb-dumb about a frickin' entertainment box where fun is #1?

"I think it's fair to say there's a segment of consumers at this show in particular who really pay attention, who are very passionate about all aspects of gaming, and that we listen to closely. In a broader set of community, people don't pay attention to a lot of the details. We've seen it in the research, we've seen it in a lot of the data points."
Nice. Insult people who don't get it. Classy stuff MS, and a classic example of projection here :p

Explain.. I have yet to see any hard evidence of the performance differences other than PS4 listing their Ram as GDDR5 and Xbox listing at DDR3.

It is, but Xbox gets timed-exclusive DLC. And most CoD players are on the Xbox.

Be honest, how many times do you hear people talk about playing CoD on their PlayStations? :p

The PlayStation 4 has a more powerful GPU.

PS4: 18 CU / 1152 SP ~ 1,84 TFLOPS -- comparable to HD 7850
XBO: 12 CU / 768 SP ~ 1,23 TFLOPS -- comparable to HD 7770

Graphics performance (supposedly),
XBOX1: 1.23 teraflops
PS4: 1.84 teraflops

I have the same experience on PS that i have on Xbox. I dont quite understand the huge favoritism for playing on xbox. Sure people like the xbox controller better, but i seem to be just fine with the PS controller.

Don't ask me, I'm just presenting the facts. Call of Duty simply sells more on the Xbox.

Maybe because Microsoft is an American company and Sony is foreign? I'm sure timed-exclusive DLC and other promotions also help.

I have both and I can say I hate the PS3 controller sooooooo much, fells like a tiny little toy, first time I picked it up I seriously thought it was missing a battery or something it was so light lol.

I primarily game on my 360 (when console gaming) because I like the UI and the controller so much more, hoping someone sticks PS4 controller guts in a 360/xbone case like they did with the ps3 because I will not be getting a psone

Defending an indefensible position is Microsoft's new PR plan, apparently. Where do they find these people?

You mean like paying a monthly subscription fee to play online or use Netflix etc?

The xbox is a $100 more then the PS4 at launch.
Microsoft is forcing the Kinect on you which would explain the higher price imo

Game consoles are viewed like any other appliance, like a microwave or oven. If it has a power button and the right holes-it is "good enough".

If this "change" was needed why hasn't Sony or Nintendo been forced into the same situation. Also didn't you tr the whole #dealwithit thing with Windows 8, now you are trying round 2? :p

For the masses, perhaps.

For some, it is much, much, more than a simple appliance. If you doubt that then you know nothing about the "gaming scene".

Gotta do it with the PS4 too (minus netflix I think)

All psones had flappy tops lol

STOP MOCKING MEEE!! lol

Agreed

You described my dream woman.

Sort of an interesting response and it seem consistent among the other publishers. EA just reiterated "If we knew anything about this why would we discontinue online pass?"

"Our general thesis is what the fans tell us they want, we'll give them," says EA's Patrick Söderlund

EA does not get a pass in my book but maybe with that idiot JR out they're starting to look at what they are doing wrong.

EA needs to climb out of a pit first, but they might actually do it.

All media, web surfing and chats are free. (Unlike the X-Bone, you cant do crap unless your a member)

I still remember when I bought an X-Box to play Halo 3, and tried to watch Netflix, it said I needed to be a gold member. I beat Halo 3, sold it right after.

The only thing is, SOME games will require Sony + account to play online. It depends on the developers.

As a Sony+ member, you gets lots of free games to play as long as your a member, a very good perk.

I pre-order a launch Ps4.

well I have always thought sony hated everyone and was a crap company.
My opinion has not changed but I think microsoft is worse.

Great. The Xbox Two will include features that Microsoft thought consumers did not need such as no need to check in online and allowing you to borrow games.

How is it a crap company? Sony has actualy treated many of its customers well. Ive seen Microsft insults its customers to many times

"Digital is better"...can't argue with that.
Can argue with all the other limitations and policies you are attempting to implement.

Technically you're still selling people game discs; you could let them play those game discs off the internet (using the disc itself - wow, what a concept), and you could pull an audible and forget about the "borrowing/used game" nonsense and you'd probably save about 75% of your face in the public.

But then again, you're Microsoft. You know what everyone wants. You know better than all of us "users".

Steam is digital only. I can't trade my games or borrow friend's games, but that's not a problem for me. I can play my Steam games offline, even though they're digital - which is something you won't let me do, even though your games are physical, tactile, tangible [pick a word].
