I pawned off most my parts of my old q6600 dell but rebuilding it for a lan PC and thinking about going SLi for a hobby pc. What would be a good new or old setup for an old dell between $200-300 unless you think thats way over priced for the CPU.

its a dell xps and has a power supply of like 750 i believe but it had a gtx 570 back in the day which worked fine. didn't over clock it much

Edit: its a dell xps 720 I think so its not your typical beige dell box

Are you replacing the motherboard? Or just the video card?

GeForce GTX 660 Ti or AMD 7870 will fit the bill but you also might need a psu upgrade

If you can go to $300 then grab a 7950 with a good cooler on it (msi, sapphire, gigabyte) and oc it. Or you could wait for the gtx 760 that's coming soon and supposed to be $299.

Radeon HD-7850. Perfect LAN video card.

a 7950 would go to waste big time with a stock Q6600. he will get the same overall playable performance with a 7870 or probably even 7850. heck even with a 7850, that cpu will really hold him back in some game.
