The [H]ardForum Perpetual Freebies Thread

gizmo -- if you need AM2, I will have a spare one by the end of next week for sure -- I was a total dumbass ordering one on eBay -- next day I got up and realized that, since the board has a heatsink bracket on it already, it has a backplate too. HURR DERP A SHERP DERP.

I have several Dell vista 32 bit dvd's and dell win xp pro 32 bit cds, as well as win 2003 server oem packs w/o serial numbers and some solid works dvds 2006-2010 w/o serial numbers if anybody wants them shoot me a pm.

I am looking for a Sata hard drive just for storage not for boot just to do backups on 200+ gigs preferred.

shot ya a pm regarding a Dell oem xp disk. ;)

This is the only SODIMM I have floating around:

2x512MB PC2 5300 SODIMM
1x256MB DDR PC2100 SODIMM

I already have some PC2 512's, I'm hoping to get a single PC2700 512MB or a pair of PC2700 1gb's to upgrade a machine.

Gillbot, I'm going to look in my stash of stuff, and if I have anything for you I'll let you know. I've a hunch that I might be able to help.

EDIT: Gill, I'm about to send you a PM. I'll edit this post again when I've actually sent it.

EDIT2: Gill, check your PM box if you don't get alerts -- you've got one waiting for you :D

I need SODIMM for a laptop, not desktop but thanks!! Also replied to your PM.

@jojo69 -- he's looking for DDR1, not DDR2.

Thanks....

I've been offered about eleventy billion sticks of DDR2 and very few of DDR which is what I need. I'd still love to find 2x1GB DDR SODIMM (DDR ONE!).

That is unless someone is crazy enough to let go of a 2x2GB DDR2 SODIMM, I won't turn those down either!!

I hope somebody sinks your battleship man

we been hitting all around you

I don't think anyone will give one away but not wanting a ton for such a hard drive would be a help. willing to pay $20 shipped for such an item. and prefer laptop hard drive to desktop drive.

I am just putting it out here before I start a want to buy thread. I am willing to buy but if I have to go get it from a website I'll buy something much bigger.

I have a spare AM2 backplate bracket -- gizmo tells me he's not interested -- it's all packed up and ready to go, just need an address and $6 via paypal to send it on its way. It'll arrive in a Small Flat Rate Box.

The backplate is one of those plastic ones that's all over eBay. FWIW, I'm asking the same price to ship it, as I paid to get it, and of that $6 I get to keep maybe $0.85. Probably less. (It's OK, I've learned my lesson -- don't buy what you don't need!)

still looking for some old retro gaming stuff. If you happen to have anything you are looking to get rid of, please drop me a pm or post a reply here.

You mean games like Half Life, or sorta the old types of games? If so, I may have something. Give me some time to look for my them in my boxes of junk. Will get back with if I find anything.

Now...my own giveaway, again.

I got a bunch of temp sensors to give out again. Let me know if you want any of them. Again, this is the same type that I gave out last time here, like six months ago.

They aren't the tiny ones where you can insert into tiny holes/space. They are round, the size of a chopstick, or roughly 6-7 mm.

Let me know.

Might be a long shot. I accidentally broke the receiver for my Microsoft Natural wireless laser mouse 7000. Tried to call Microsoft but no luck. If anybody has a spare one, let me know. Really like the shape of the mouse.

Edit: seems like the receiver for Microsoft laser mouse 6000/7000 would also work.

Still looking... Would like to get one this week.

Though not a freebie, I've had one for minimally more than shipping in my for sale thread for a while. $15 for a N speed capable 54g based Netgear router.

What kinda cord does it take? I've got heaps of power cords and a couple wall warts that might be useful here...

mostly looking for old console stuff. nes, snes, sega genesis etc.

Here, folks, have a really old graphics card. Got this from a fellow in the UK, who is on another forum. Wasn't useful to me, maybe it will be for you?

It's a Union UTD73 from 1994 or so. Just new enough to be PCI. Trident chipset. 1MB VRAM (Alliance brand, SRAM as I recall). Two sockets for a RAM upgrade, to pump it up to 2MB. 800x600 max resolution. VGA output. Yours for cost of shipping ;)

Great for a nostalgia rig, I suppose. The max res is what didn't work for me. I can guarantee that it works -- I tested it, and that's how I found out the res limit.

Did you have the drivers installed for it? It could probably do more if it were not stuck in a generic vesa mode.

Was testing in Puppy Linux, with the appropriate Linux driver.

It's a hardware limit.

I bought a Canon Powershot that didn't come with the original neckstrap. Since it has small strap eyelets, a regular neckstrap wont go thru it. Anyone have a powershot strap they can part with? I have a regular Canon strap that I would trade for it.

Still have the AM2 bracket and the Trident graphics card...

...and the CD drives, minus two...

I've got a small assortment of worthless junk:

Socket 462 / Socket A AMD Thoroughbred 2400+
Socket 462 / Socket A AMD Mobile Barton 2500+ that doesn't overclock worth a damn, but does undervolt (currently using, but can swap out for the above if you need it for an HTPC)
512MB DDR2 PC2-4200 Hynix SODIMM (HYMP564S64BP6-C4 AB) 2x
Radeon 7000 AGP Fanless card
random 10/100 PCI ethernet cards / nics
random floppy drives

I also have a spare AwardBIOS 6.00 PLCC from an nForce2 mobo I could probably flash (it takes 512KB bios firmware) to anything anybody needs, if they've got a board dead from a faulty flash they think will revive.

What I need:
My Socket 462/Socket A ATX mobo is on the verge of death, so I need a new system backbone that will take DDR and an AGP video card. If anybody has mobo/cpu/hsf parts in Socket 754 or Socket 939 currently gathering dust, that would be ideal. Obviously a decent Socket A mobo would get the job done; flash-dead boards are just fine.

I could use some DDR2-4300 desktop memory for my 75+ year-old neighbor's PC. I had to work on it this weekend and that thing crawls! It currently has 512MB. I'd like to double that at the very least, but if someone had one or two 1GB sticks, that would be superb.

imyourzero, can the computer support a 2gb stick? I should be able to help either way.

Not sure, friend. I ran Speccy and CPU-Z to find out the memory speed, but I forget what chipset the mobo had. I know the CPU is an AMD Sempron and it has nVidia onboard video...maybe 6150LE for the video chipset or something along those lines? Poor single core CPU is a large part of the problem as the thing just locks up when loading multiple things, but it's also severely mem limited. I noticed that it was chewing on the page file pretty much all of the time.

I've a Compaq SR2173 with that exact chipset and it beeps when I put in 2gb sticks. Tell you what -- when you get a chance, PM me (or post here) the make and model of the system and I'll do the rest of the research ;) I'm good at that.
