World of Tanks MMO

The lee against it's own tier is a much different tank than against other tiers.

Oh the KV-1S is definitely one of the best, if not the best, Tier 6 tank. I was able to kill an IS with it. LOL I've done almost all of the damage on it, and of course the kill shot, while the enemy IS was busy on the KV-1 beside me. lol At the same time our IS was busy with the enemy T29. This was in Abbey, on the right side (hence space is...hard to come by). An enemy T-34 tried skirting us by passing through the water, killed it too. It ended up as a draw though as only the heavies in our team survived (5 in all, the IS, a Tiger, me, an M6, and a Churchill I) while 4 of their tanks got to our base (albeit they were quicker to reach there being mostly TDs and mediums).

my friend just came down to CR and had me download this game, i am frick'n hooked, only on lvl 3 tanks so far, just started playing today!

I'm pretty pissed off (along with a lot of other people) about what they are doing to the German light line.

what have they done?

Tonight seems to be n00b night, nothing but idiots playing who just rush out alone and get blown up, no scouts, and no arty cover.

So I built a cheapie gaming computer for my dad last month since he loves world of tanks. he keeps an active subscription and buys gold every once in a while to give himself a boost. Up until last month, he was playing on a $250 walmart computer that came with the monitor, kb, and mouse, so his average FPS was about 5-7 with everything set as low as possible lol. Now he played over 5,000 games at this shitty fps, which means he was rolling around being useless with top tier tanks.

So we move to the day I delivered and setup his new computer, he now gets 45+ fps at all times with everything set to extreme. He also averages 3 kills a game and is getting better. I just wanted to share that with you after reading MrGuvernments post about noobs.

Edit: The difference between the lowest setting and highest setting is pretty amazing, had my dad sitting there saying "this is almost like a whole different game!" the first day.

My tanks right now:
| T30, T26E4 Super Pershing, T29, T20, T14, M7 Priest, M37, T18, T1E6 | Tiger II, JagdPz IV, Hummel, T-25 | Type T-34 |
| AMX 12t, ELC AMX, FCM36 PaK40 | IS-7, IS-3, Churchill III, Matilda IV, SU-85, SU-18 | Comet, Cromwell, Churchill I |

The line of German lights are getting bumped up a tier in next patch which makes it harder for them to compete. Hence the nerf people are speaking of.

I have 2 tier 10 US tanks and still play this game from time to time..

I am currently grinding the VK2801, still have like 30k to go and I only play one game on the Leo per day. I played the Leo in beta and it rocked hard, now it's kind of meh. The gun does basically zero damage for the most part unless you come across a lower tier tank. I make most my xp by just scouting as opposed to direct damage.

However, the videos I watched of the VK2801 show that its gun does actually quite a bit of damage even to T7/8 tanks. Not sure how I feel about them getting bumped up a tier. I think for the Leo that will be total fail, it's already pretty useless dmg wise as is. I'd probably stop playing it and just forget about lights altogether.

EDIT: Nevermind, it already happened with today's patch, VK2801 is worthless as scout now. Ah well, one less tank to grind.

Yeah the Leo has fallen on hard times. In beta and early release it rocked as you say. A real terror of the scouting world. Unfortunately over time other tanks have come on the scene and do the scouting job better and have better guns on top of that. Thus making the Leo obsolete. The tier bump is just another nail in its already over nailed coffin unfortunately. Kinda sad really. :(

Pubbies ruin everything. I especially blame them for the shell price change in the NA server.

I am getting annoyed on Pubbies, so many n00bs and i have only been playing for 2 weeks!

There is right here: http://hardforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=126

All [H]ard|Forum members welcome.

Am I just blind? I couldn't find anything about an existing WoT clan using the search.

I'm no WoT master, only really been playing for about 3 weeks even though I created the account like 2 years ago, but I've managed 4 top guns in the last few days. I play a mean T49 and Hellcat. Getting better with the M4 and T34, but tanks with huge guns and lots of speed seem to fit my play style the best.

I go by Draxanoth in WoT, same as here.

If you want a large gun and blinding speed, the Russian TD line (268 line) is really powerful and fast at the end of the line. I don't remember the low tiers much, but I remember enjoy the line from about tier 5 onwards as everyone one of them being very powerful for it's tier.

I don't recall seeing a 268, but I'm not at home so I can't see the tree. My plan was to abandon the T34 and go vertical to the SU85, but I think that TD line ends with a 704?

704 is tier 9, 268 is tier 10. They are both beasts.

BTW, you have a T-34 not a T34. T34 is a premium American Tier 8 heavy. Confusing, right?

I think the Chinese have a couple too...

It's going to take me awhile to get out of the T-34 I think, I really don't enjoy playing it. I was pretty determined not to spend any money aside from permanently painting my favorite tanks, but I might have to cave on premium to help me get out of the T-34. ;)

If you play the game with any regularity, buying premium is simply a no brainer. A month of premium is about the same price as any other MMO, well worth it IMHO.

To me WoT is one of the few ..., well ... actually ..., currently it's the only online game that I feel is actually worth the ~$15 monthly "subscription".

That's really my only concern. If I buy in I'd feel like I'm required to play as much as possible, and I like not having to. That was why I got out of MMO's originally, I felt like I had to play since I paid for it. (You should have seen my house in DAOC... it was outrageous how much time I invested.) I like the relaxing nature of no subscription, with the ability to splurge on permanent goodies like camo. The grind doesn't really bug me since I like to play, but I might cave anyway. Especially since they have that trivial 2 man group size limit.

I've got years of /playtime logged to MMOs. However, I feel differently about WoT. I haven't gotten into clan wars and that has kept it from getting to that point of "having to log in".

You could buy daily premium if you wanted to play all day on a Saturday, however if you buy only a few days a month, it's cheaper to just buy the whole month and not worry about it.

On the other hand, the monthly subscription to an MMO has always been a trivial amount of money to me so I've never felt "compelled" to play just because I bought a subscription. I've felt compelled to play for other reasons, but not because I had a subscription.

I wouldn't be surprised if I have a bit of an obsessive compulsive disorder about wasting money. I'll blow a fortune on an excellent audio system, but I'm bothered by subscriptions. Maybe my first step towards recovery should be 6 months of WoT. :D

Speaking as a solo player for the most part I think you would probably do better to just make friends as you go and create your own play list of those who you enjoy platooning with rather than worrying if there is a HF group or not. Just an idea anyway. I been playing this game since early beta and there are some really good and nice players out there that dont play in clans. I meet them all the time.

Make sure you get the 57mm gun on the T-34. The high rate of fire makes up for the low damage. Put a GLD on it, and it's a damn fun tank. I kept mine. The T-34-85 is good too. Great gun at that tier for a tank (at least it was when I was in it).

There are also social clans that don't do clan wars. Although the average player in a social, non-clan war clan is pretty bad. I don't know who you ran with in your MMO time, but if you were an elitist, you'll have to be picky about your clans just like you were your guilds.

Considering I play at WoT SEA, I don't have a chance to play with you guys LOL. My clan's Teamspeak server is shared with a NA clan though lol.

Was thinking the same. searched that section top to bottom!

mrguvernment myself

It is because its not worth real money to form a WoT clan that gives no benefits, other then flying the 'H' flag.

Even then, I wouldnt recommend it, unless you can somehow get at least 30+ great players with tier-10's to do serious Clan Wars, you can try Africa where all the fledgling clans can try their hand.

Otherwise you will be forever ridiculed by better clans (and players) alike.

This really only matters if you give a shit what someone you don't know thinks of you in an online game.

There are plenty of clans which do not do CW and are just there to create some sort of unity.

However, personally I just play solo. I tried clans and just couldn't put up with listening to retards and kids with ADD on voice comms. Plus whenever we did tank companies it was always so contrived when someone had to decide on the strategy.

My recommendation would be to find one (or two, if you have premium) people you can stand and who play around your usual playtime, and then just form a platoon with them and have voice comms to go along with it.

It's pretty incredible what two or three people working well together can do in a random public game. What worked especially well for us was one player running a TD and the other a medium tank. Once the game entered the end phase the medium would protect the TD so no hostiles can get close enough to prevent the TD from rotating. The med would also put an emphasis on tracking hostiles rather than go for damage. Good times.

Who are pretty much all arrogant asshats.

There are a lot of those yes, but I found a good home in a decent clan with mostly down-to-Earth guys.

I've been pretty heavily addicted to this game since I started playing about 7 months ago (+12k battles), but the shine is starting to wear. I pretty much only log on for Clan Wars, and they can't even seem to get that right a lot of the time.

After the debacle of the first US map launch, and the downtime after 8.4, now CW is down again until the 13th. I'm not even really bothered if we get the 300k gold and medal we're supposed to for the America event.

I was thinking more along the lines of some solid folks for when they do those platoon events, not so much the crazy obsessive clan wars business.
