And just how does China know we lack proof that they are behind the attacks? The only way they would know we don't have proof is by hacking our top secret databases that hold that type of information! ;)

Accusations by a U.S. computer security company that a secretive Chinese military unit is likely behind a series of hacking attacks are scientifically flawed and hence unreliable, China's Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

Yep, because the Chinese Defense Ministry are going to say otherwise.

Of course they're at it. We're at it too.... Every power is at it. It's today's answer to the traditional cold war spies. Now governments don't even have need to have someone physically inside an entity!

Guess that will put James Bond out of a job soon.

As previous poster said.. they def are not going to make a statement saying we did it!!!

We should haxxor them back. Or maybe blow up one of their embassies on accident like in the old days.

maybe it isnt even government hacking but random groups that hacked into both china and usa

If this ever escalates to Fallout level of "shithasgottenreal", then I'm getting me a vault.

I knew they would say that. China would do something, have its face clear as day on a 4K resolution video and say, "that's not me". We should take the same approach.

We could always cut that cable between China and the rest of the world for a hour without notice during the highest hacking peak and then see how many hacker attempts there are during the blackout? I found the proof!

Ummm, anyone here think that the US would ever admit to hacking/spying on the Chinese... which is certainly happening? I think not. This is just political posturing

"And just how does China know we lack proof that they are behind the attacks?"

If they didn't do it they'd know we don't have proof... because they didn't do it.

Agreed. Political posturing.

a. Oh you got us! You crafty Americans we'll stop now
b. We have no idea who it was but it wasn't us, we will continue not doing what we weren't doing.
c. It may be radical members of our society, we need help to squash them out.
d. How dare you accuse us, remember who owns a good hunk of your debt bitches!

China is like a 4 year old kid with chocolate cake all over his face, saying "I didn't do it."

Or stop buying plastic lawn furniture at Walmart. Bankers in Hong Kong would be jumping out of windows.

We need to shut this bully up, show the world that we caught PRC red handed, and teach them a lesson; also every USA company should pull out of china and outsource to Mexico; also bring chaos to order to them; harmonized the PLA/CCP

what kind of retard would focus all of their hacking in one physical building?

"lets all sit in one place and hack until everyone traces back to us!"

honestly...as much as I love America but the Chinese is too smart to hack only from a single building...

I never knew around 8% is a 'good hunk' already.

If the US does that, they'll default on the US debt, you'll be instantly in the poorhouse, and all your assets will go to china anyway.

Just think of future bond movies...

He sits down at his computer, starts hacking, takes a break and checks online for some pron. Next he tries to sign up for a forum to get information, and it tells him "sorry but the name James Bond is already taken, try adding 001 to the name." He goes back to "base" in the next room and talks with M for a minute or two about his hack, then goes back to his computer and works for a while and steals the info needed then crashes the bad guy's computer.
He is able to do all of this within the two hour timeframe the movie would be.

There are standalone terminals. Not everything is connected to the internet and anything really secure even has it's own power supply.

I heard stories of people hacking through the power plug.

Congressional way of thinking that 1 trillion dollars isn't that much?

Also note they indirectly hold a lot more of our debt because our entire economy (the way to pay off said debt.... as if that will ever happen) is intimately tied to China

Why not? The Chinese can operate with impunity. It does not matter where they put them in China. We will continue to say they did it. They will continue to say they are not. It's not like we are going to bomb that building or something.

That's SOP in China, most of the hackers work for the government or corporations and many past attacks have been traced to government offices and corporate headquarters. I think you're looking at it from the perspective of western politics where plausible deniability is important, China would deny that the sky is blue(and admonish any "troublemakers" that disagree) if they thought it would help further their political goals.

This really isn't news for anyone that's been paying attention over the last decade, there's a tremendous amount of hacking that originates in China. I'm sure the US and most other countries are involved in cyber espionage but China is by far the worst and they really don't try that hard to hide it.

One thing all americans should think about, we try to stop others from developing nuclear weapons, but to date we are the only country in the world that has ever dropped a nuclear bomb on another nation / enemy that I am aware of.

We complain that others are hacking us and start talking about sanctions etc.. And yet the only major act of cyber war that I am aware of is stuxnet which is reported to have been developed / executed in part by the USA. And by cyber warefare I mean actually doing physical harm to facilities and people.

At the end of the day I think its time for people in the USA to shut and start learning how to secure their networks. Because we all know that we are never actually going to start blocking all the spam / ddos attacks coming out of China. Its just political rhetoric.

@rudy
I'm also wondering if America will be the first to ban Drone strikes are unethical and inhuman once other countries are mass producing combat capable drones as well.

Jeez, i'm embarassed to say i didn't know about it until now. Going into an allied country and bombing the heck out of their civilians. I can only imagine how americans would react if China was to send in drones, blow past US airspace and take out specific american terrorist targets.

The subject being discussed here is hacking not malware, nuclear bombs, or drones.

My bad. So how is america handling this? Are they sic'ing stuxnet at China? Or are they pushing for an international law banning hacking.

Encrypt a virus, protect it along with some information you don't mind getting out, let them hack take, open and then destroy their systems.

BOOM!
