New Bioshock Infinite Trailer

Uhh...

Looks nothing like Bioshock TBH. What's with the health bars and shit? Seems like they made it a fairly generic shooter.

My understanding is that there is not supposed to be any kind of continuity between Infinite and the other Bioshock games. So the story * may * not make sense, but if it does not, it will not be because you needed to know something from Bioshock 1 or 2.

As to the "Bioshock Formula" - what is that exactly? In Bioshock you went in alone after your plane crashed and had to survive the insane general populace trying to kill you at every turn while being driven to fight the end boss. In Bioshock Infinite, it looks like you go in alone to rescue the girl Elizabeth while needing to survive the insane general populace trying to kill you at every turn while being driven to fight the end boss.

It sure got that bioshock feel at least the first part of the video till they start fighting.
Second part is just too busy... is that what kids like these days ? *shakes my cane at them*
Not my father's Bioshock!!

I second that "Shakes Cane".

Hmmm, the thing I still sadly dislike about Bioshock is the gameplay. Doesn't look great so far.

Funny, I am way over 17 and both my wife and I buy some games based on that..Heck, I have seen her shoot down MMO's because the character customization wouldn't let her pick her characters boob size.

So much for that theory...

That's funny too, because my own wife has problems with games that show off a lot of boobs not because they do that, but because they don't have an equivalent for the men. If they countered a woman with big (exposed) breasts with a guy walking around shirtless all the time or a guy with a g-string and his testicles hanging over the side, she would have no complaints.

Hell, it's not even about the women with big boobs, it's when their exposed in impractical ways while the men are fully clothed.

did they model the girl after the voice actor?

No. They modeled her after a russian cosplayer.

I'm extremely bummed.

They have turned it into what I used to appreciate it NOT being. Another frickin' FPS shooter.

GD'it. Pass... I can't wait for the Genre go implode in a blaze of Glory so we can get back to some real games :)

I agree.......this has degenerated into Call of Duty meets Bioshock.

Looking at the vid, I think some of the combat was unnecessary. He jumped back after that mechanic when he could have just left it alone. So my theory is that the guy playing over engaged when he probably didn't need to such a degree.

Maybe some guys who play video games are over the age of 17 and don't make buying desicions based on the presence or absence of boobs.

35, got a hot wife, and I play video games. I want a world that I like looking at, instead of some weak facsimile of real life. I want guns, explosions, big boobed women, barrel chested men, deep menacing voices, heroic actions, intelligent writing, great bad guys, etc. Basically all the stuff that movies generally lack. :D

So give me my boobs. I paid for entertainment and josh darn, I'll be entertained! I can go back to flat chested women when I head back to work!

PS - my response is a purposefully over the top. it's meant to emphasis that I use video games for what they are: fantasy. I like women with nice butts and good breasts (hence my wife) and so I would like the same in a virtual entertainment form.

Bioshock has always felt like a Cal of Duty game to me including the piss poor writing. Nothing new.

Bioshock writers seem create unique atmosphere but fair at fleshing it out. One example is Star Wars. Wonderful universe and story framework but terrible writing holds it back.

One of these things might be out of place. Not that I disagree with you, but you basically described a Michael Bay movie, then tossed in "intelligent writing".

While my wife doesn't play video games, she does acknowledge the attraction of having a nice looking woman character to look at. :) She said, "Heck, I wouldn't mind it either! Women are just nicer to look at than men."

still pretty hard to judge an entire games worth on such a short video. i reserve judgement for release

If I'm paying for that kind of experience, then I want that kind of experience. If I want a dark, somber scene where the people aren't all pretty, then I will pay for that. If I want utter realism or more realistic, I'll pay for it. :)

Yeah, intelligent writing and Michael Bay certainly didn't go together. :(

One my fav games (until they fooked the ending, but then fixed with DLC) was Mass Effect. That game series had it all IMO. Boobs, barrel men, writing, action, bad guys, great voices, etc. That game wasn't afraid to show men as men and women as women and Grunt as a big lizard. :D Loved that series, for it delivered almost everything I wanted in a game.

Hey, Ken Levine. This game portrays men in a negative light. We're not all athletic piles of muscle who can jump from platforms to zip lines or do that much running around without getting winded. You need to change it.

Agreed. The protagonist should be diabetic with bad knees.

I don't have any real issue with downsizing her boobs, it sucks the reason they did was because of feminist groups, but none the less it's not going to affect my enjoyment of the game if she has ever so slightly more realistic boobs. However, if they changed her personality and thus effecting the story, that's a shame.

How many feminist's are going to actually buy this game, so why should they care?

What they should have done was crowd-sourced the "boob reduction redesign" so all the mega-feminists could pay for it themselves if they wanted it. Like has been said, they're probably not going to buy the game anyway, so why cater to them?

I'm very concerned at this point. I really hope they didn't sell out and turn this into an on-the-rails (literally) CoD type action-fest. The magic of these games was exploring and becoming immersed in a unique world.

But, lets just hope this was marketing aimed at the same crowd. It's the VGAs after all.

Oh, and the performance + graphics looked subpar. It's pre-release so I'm not going to pass too much judgment but I'm worried that this game is going to be gimped by drastically aging console hardware and the PC port will look just as bad. Looking at you Dishonored.
