Torchlight 2

The irony of torch light 2 is this,

"Oh yea mod the shit outta our game. Infinite levels? Do it. Epic boss maps just filled with bosses to drop fat loots and earn exp/fame faster? Go for it. Redo skills to have different effects and what not? Go for it.

Respec your character? No can do boss, flagging you as a cheater."

Seriously?

Great point. It is pretty weird. I suspect they will bow to demand eventually.

I just found this:

Silly that we can't respec via a mechanic in the game. Don't really want to try something that may screw my game up...

I used this a couple days ago to re-spec one of my chars and it works fine. I kept a bunch of the potions in my shared stash so I could use them later on other chars :)

It's simple to use, just back up your original shared-stash file first and put it back after you grab the potions. It doesn't flag the char because you're not the one who brought up the console to spawn them, you're just copying someone else's shared stash.

Though i haven't tried, i remember reading before the game came out that you can respec all your points, and that the first 3 are free... beyond that you pay.

Where'd you read that? Unless it was about the beta, but the beta was different as well.

Tempting....

Eh... aren't they flagging you a cheater because you used a console command? At least thats what I'm getting from this. WHere as you use something already there, you're fine, but using a command console is you creating something. Like..... IDDQD.

You can only spawn the respec potion through console currently.

Oh, I don't doubt that. But that's just how it is until mod tools are released. Then you can probably do it to your hearts content and be fine.

shared stash save works flawlessly

a word of caution, just make sure to either backup your shared stash or transfer everything to a mule(s) because everything will be rewritten with respec potions

I just had about six hours disappear on me. Thanks a lot, TL2.

Holy shit this is addictive...I haven't even thought about D3 since buying it earlier tonight. I rolled an Outlander and I'm lvl 8 so far, undecided on what build I want to go with, pretty much experimenting.

My buddy and I have shit gear. We are almost done with act 3.

Will we be able to farm the final boss pretty well or no? I'd like to get my gear ironed out before progressing to a second playthrough.

Why don't you guys farm phase portals?

Find a phase beast, kill it. Then quit after you get the boxes, and when you reload, you're still in it to be able to do it again.

Ain't it though? I was stuck on one, since it was basically a mob rush, with my Elite Embermage. Kept on dying... so I quit, came back and I was still on it. So, I found out about that. Heh.

What skills are you guys spending most of your points on for your Outlander?

I'm a pure str outlander going rapid fire/venomous hail using a shotgun. It pretty much melts face. Though I am squishy as hell if I forget to use Cursed Daggers.

I'm currently doing a high dexterity dual pistol build. None of the skills seem really useful though. Currently just using the glaive for multiple enemies and the thorne wall to keep from getting rushed. Tower is the only other skill I actually use in combat. Any others worth using?

On mine: Long Range Mastery, Master of the Elements, Glaive Throw, and Shadowling Ammo. Glaive Throw started off weak but by Tier I it kicks ass. I use it all the time now.

I'm still not sure on Shadowling Ammo, but I guess every bit of extra DPS helps so what the hell.

I'm curious. How are you guys losing hours? Only way I can think of is multiple computers and Steam not syncing. Which I've been pretty careful in doing.

Do you just play the game, and see that it regressed?

anyone feel veteran is too hard and normal too easy?

maybe im not playing right

Dex is a really really bad stat. I hope you aren't above 109/110 dex base :( (109/110 is the max needed to get max dodge with Dodge Mastery + Share the Wealth)

Most outlanders go 109/110 dex, then either full str or full focus depending if you're going to go a physical DPS type of outlander using either rapid fire/chaos shot/shadow shot or a glaive outlander using max glaives with master of the elements.

@Tantrix

Shadowling doesn't proc off glaive FYI. Also if you're playing in anything above normal, shadowling's get destroyed. Really hoping Runic buffs/fixes them by making them untargetable or something by mobs.

I think it's more along the lines of "It's 8pm, I'm gonna play some TL2!". Plays game, looks at clock some time later. "Oh shit! It's 11pm!". ;)

Ooooo... wow, that flew right over my head.

It does do a pretty good job of that.

Yeah, I noticed glaive won't proc it...I kind of wish I hadn't put any points into it now, but I'm working other things up so I haven't put any into it in awhile. I'm gonna work other things first then I might put my last points into Shadowling, I don't know yet.

Just rolled an Engie, love it way more than my beserker. Going full blitz!

I'm lvl 23 on my Outlander now, but I am still very curious about the Engie.

On a side note, anyone here have an Outlander with Poison Burst upgraded pretty high? I'm thinking of instead of putting points into Shadowling Ammo I'll go with Poison Burst as a passive for the extra DPS.

I thought when you reload, you respawn back at the town.

Not for me. Remembered eloaded twice, and once I was in a phase challenge, and the other time I was in the pirate ship place thing.

Pretty sure, you have to load up another character then the first, to get monsters and stuff to reset. Not sure how it works if you reroll the world using online game though.
