As the title states. Please vote then reply with a yes or no and what processor and chipset you have now.

Yes, I will be getting IB.

Upgrading my X2 6400+ on an nVidia 570SLI chipset.

Definately Upgrading...Already have the ASUS Gene V, just waiting for the processor..

Upgrading from a Core2 Duo (E8400)

I wasn't able to upgrade the rig in my sig when SB first arrived, I have the funds now so next week I will be ordering:
3770k, Asus P8Z77-V Pro and 8 Gb Crucial Balistix Elite DDR3 1600 (CL8), and an Intel 520 series 120 Gb SSD. Might have to lap my Scythe Mugen 2 to helps with temps though ;)

I'm on a first gen core i3 @ 4GHz now and will probably move to an IB i3 or i5 setup later this year...Trinity might change my mind if the APU + hybrid xfire is good enough though.

My i5-760 (3.7ghz) is a bottleneck for my 7970 so I will be getting a 3770k. (I play games low detail @ 120hz. And I also just want new toys lol)

Already have an MSI Z77A-GD65 and samsung ram waiting.

Yup, from a Pentium G860 for the htpc rig, lower power (won't be oc'ing it) HDMI 1.4a and 3d support with faster graphics makes it worth it.

Yes I will be replacing my I7 920 with an IB to go with my SLI GTX 680.

Yeah, from a E8400 @ 4.3 to 3500k/3700k and going to try and wait for the dual gpus to come out before I decide on 7970(s), 7990 or 680(s), 690 (if that happens to be the next nvidia card released)

Gonna be a good month for may, Computer upgrades + Timewarner finally getting Docsis 3 rolled out soon.

I am finally making the jump from my Phenom II 965BE to Ivy, planning on the 3570K, I got the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 for its separate and superb LAN and Audio chipsets, along with virtu. It was pretty hard to decide on a mobo though, so many good options, but it seems no one had the ports lined up the way I want them and if they did, it was lacking the features I was looking for.

Yes but on my next build is not a upgrade it will be a whole new rig altogether. Need a small LAN mitx rig.

Not in the first wave but perhaps early fall.
Haven't yet thought about what I will get but i7 3770T looks really tasty.

I will be building a whole new rig, so I will be upgrading from a Core 2 Duo E4500 to the Core i7 3770K.

im on an lga775 chip and ddr2 ram... dual core... so yeah... upgrade time
wow, i have been on [H] for almost 5 years... nice

I sold my 2500k with my p8z68pro and planing to upgrade to a 3770k with sabertooth or formula. It's not a big upgrade but I just want to do it anyway.

After seeing first reviews, there is no point to swap my 2500K for IB. Next upgrade will be Haswell

Definitely IB. I'm building a new desktop next month to replace one that's 4 years old. IB will be a big step up vs. my ancient Core 2 Duo E8500.

Someday a worthy successor to the SR2 will come out, and I'll be a happy man.
For now, X58 forever!
Hopefully Haswell will be more exciting.

I voted no, but upon reconsideration I might pick up a low-end Ivy Bridge laptop.

On the desktop side I'm far too happy with my 2600k and Asus P67 Deluxe to make a change. Been the most stable computer I've ever owned.

Maybe down the road,

I got a $200 2600K from Microcenter and a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H on the way.

Yes.

From rig in sig to 3770K, Z77 (Sabertooth?), 16Gb DDR3 (idk which yet), 520 Intel SSD, 680 or 7970.

Where's the "probably" option? Depends on real-world pricing next week.
My decision-tree:

intel CPU_choice( int Cash )
{
if ( localshop.price(Ivy) > 1.2 * localshop.price(Sandy) )
{
if ( ( localshop.price( i7-2600 ) - localshop.price( i5-2500K ) < 50 ) && Cash > 600 )
return( i7-2600 )
else
return( i5-2500K )
}
else
{
if ( ( localshop.price( i7-3770 ) - localshop.price( i5-3570K ) < 50 ) && Cash > 600 )
return( i7-3770 )
else
return( i5-3570K )
}
}

int main()
{
if ( Mood == BUY && Cash > 500 )
{
localshop.buy( Z77 + CPU_choice( Cash ) )
}
else
{
StartWaitingForHaswell();
}

return 0;
}

yes and no. will wait for windows 8 and get a laptop then. hopefully they have laptops with touchscreens by then.

I'm still on XP and I've tried Windows 8 CP. I've actually decided I want to upgrade before Windows 8 is the only OS you can buy. I absolutely HATE metro and the new "start-screen", so I'm kind of forced to upgrade now while Windows 7 is still around....:)

I'm only upgrading from my 3.6ghz i7 920 because my Dell motherboard hates SSD's.

I do enough video conversion that Quicksync will make a huge difference, too.

If I could give you a cookie, I most certainly would.

i prob dont need to upgrade but will cuz it's fun

and i want to sell my current stuff while its still worth a decent amount

Taking my C2D E8500 and GA-EP45-UD3L up to a i7-3770K on a GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB. Confident this new build will last me at least four years.

Thanks, but I've turned off cookies in my browser anyway. ;)

I'm torn between i7 and i5K. I know HT doesn't do much for gaming, and the only reason I'm upgrading is because of gaming....
Still, my current C2D E6750 has lasted almost 5 years now, and who knows how many CPU-cores the XBox-next ports will require!!!!

So, what's the best choice? An overclockable i5 that may have to be upgraded sooner due to lack of cores, or a (partially)locked i7 that will hopefully last the full 5 years(or longer)? :confused:
(I will NOT buy the i7-3770K. €/$ 300,- is my max for a CPU)

Depends on my finances. I just got two 680s and I am booking a trip to Europe, but I'd like to upgrade the CPU too if possible.

If you're upgrading for gaming, lack of cores won't be a problem. Grab an i5.

i actually turn off HT on my i7 to get a higher overclock at a lower voltage and less heat :p

go with i5

That's what I thought when I bought this E6750. Then GTA IV happened. And last year's Witcher-2 and Crysis-2 are collecting dust on the shelf here because they're unplayable on a Core 2 Duo. :(
The new consoles are coming, and with all the rumours about those things being massively multi-core...what is future-proof?
