Thousands of iPhone owners are expected to march on Apple's headquarters tomorrow to protest the reports of abuse and conditions at Foxconn. No word on how many are mad enough to actually give up their iPhones though.

"I use an iPhone myself,” said Taren Stinebrickner-Kauffman, executive director of SumOfUs in a press release sent to Business Insider. “I love it, but I don't love having to support sweatshops, and neither do millions of other Apple consumers. The hip, educated market that Apple aspires to corner is largely composed of responsible consumers who don’t want to be complicit in sweatshop labor.”

Next iPhone will cost 1500$..
Hipsters shoot themselves in the foot..

Rest of world laughs at them..

Who exactly forced them to do so?

isn't this sort of like going to a brothel, getting laid and then go on a march to protest prostitution?

Make it in the states and charge $1200 for it. Problem solved.

"Tomorrow, activists will try to prove their point by wearing iPhone costumes, waving iPhone posters and delivering petitions in Mac boxes. The activities will occur at 10 a.m. local time in the U.S. locations."

So they're gonna protest and kiss ass at the same time. Hipsters are so CUTE when they have a cause.

They should go Occupy Foxconn..
But yeah.. Apple should open up plants in the states.. They can still charge whatever they want and hiptards will still pay it..

This is retarded. If you don't like Apple's business practices, don't buy their products. What these people are basically doing is they're making everyone think they care, without actually caring.

Hipsters without jobs marching to protest jobs in China. Yay irony.

Don't be too sure. As much as a lot of folks want to slam Apple's pricing their stuff really isn't all that expensive for what it is. Sure it's not cheap but I and a lot of folks around here spend a much more on PC stuff.

Everyone is missing the important issue here. Stinebrickner-Kauffman would be a PITA to write on application forms and stuff over and over again...22 symbols, yo! :(

Wait... what? Spend more on PC stuff than Apple stuff? Since when? Last I checked:

Apple Monitor: $400
Comparable non-Apple: $200

Apple Laptop: $2300
Comparable non-Apple: $1500

Apple Keyboard+Mouse: $120
Comparable non-Apple: $60

Pretty much.

I'm going solely based on the wording of the headline

This protest will only be successful if the iPhone users involved user slingshots to propel their iPhones into the Apple Store building

How's the ikoolaid tasting?

You HAVE to be high.

$49 for a $2 mouse. Because it has one button. Oh, and apple now has invented the scroll wheel too. Plus it is white. OBVIOUSLY worth $49.

The fact is people only buy apple because it is hip. Yes, apple invented the ipod market and had no competition for years. Possibly you could say this about the iphone too.. in 2007. Not now. Every product apple makes is inferior to current market products be it in the PC market, the phone market, the tablet market. Props to apple for being marketing geniuses, but there is absolutely no way you can justify paying what apple charges and suggest someone is getting their money's worth.

Protested against Apple outside the headquarters today! That'll show 'em!

We can pick products all day, there's almost always something more expensive on the PC side, maybe the Mac Pro is out in orbit.

Heatless, you just compared a tablet to a SLATE. You of all people know thats apples and oranges. As far as I know apple doesn't have a slate.

I think you failed to understand the point of his post. We ([H] forum goers) spend more on PC stuff (enthusiast hardware) then your average Apple user does purchasing Apple crap.

Go check out a few [H] profiles and see if their hardware specs don't have at least $1500+ worth of hardware lined up...

Zune HD kicks the iPod in the balls when it comes to overall PMP IMO.

I wouldn't pay more that 2.20 for any apple.. and that is a candied apple... :p

There's a lot of misconceptions about making products here in USA.

#1 Products won't suddenly triple in price. Yes the price will go up, but not enough to make the product expensive. One example would be Legacy Audio. They obviously don't cater to the masses, but the quality can't be beat.

#2 China isn't known for quality. The phrase "you get what you pay for" couldn't be more applied to China. I remember reports of contaminated cat food and toothpaste coming from there. Especially electronics, which seem lucky to have lasted 3 years nowadays. Any audiophile will tell you that old stereo's are probably better then new ones. For example Pioneer SX-1980. Remember when the best stuff was made in Japan?

#3 America is being extracted. Actually every modern country is, cause everyone buys their products from China. American supplies pretty much nothing, except services. If we don't make anything, then we're giving money away to corporations. I know people like to blame China, but it's really the companies that make it out big. They'll do anything to make a bigger profit really. Once all the money is in China, then they'll focus on extracting them.

But thats 4xGPUs and other stuff it's not 1:1 identical computer parts for the same price. The $1500 of Apple stuff isn't anywhere approaching the same performance level, or components, especially as the [H] stuff is going to be overclocked rather than stock with $300 for 4gb of ram. :p

Nor is the U.S. known for infallible quality.

I don't know why you're comparing food safety to electronics, but if you want to talk about food safety why don't you compare food safety in China vs food safety in the US. There's a reason why a lot of people only eat McDonalds when they travel to China.

This is the closest I've ever been to seriously wanting to get an iPhone.

I see your point, in my defense every time you see an x86 Windows tablets, err slates reviewed its ALWAYS compared to iPads and Android slates, err tablets. With Windows 8 I really don't see any difference between slates and tablets. Back in the day a tablet was a slate with a digital pen. I consider than iPad a touch screen slate.

Yeah, you get what you pay for. The Bay Bridge in SF is being built from prefab sections made in China. China is the worlds largest producer of wind turbines. They made the cranes being used in the Port of Oakland...you can bet the Chinese know how to make things just fine when it's serious business.

I have a leather racing suit made in China that I've crashed in twice, once sliding across the track at 80mph and tumbling through a hundred feet of weeds. The suit is fine, I still use it. It wasn't the cheapest suit on the rack by a long shot. You pay up, the Chinese will make stuff as good as what you'd get anywhere.

Again... losing track of the point of the post. I'm not stating that Apple is 1:1 on price/performance to enthusiast level hardware...

I'm merely explaining someones point of that someone else grossly misread and then went down a completely different road. Hell... this isn't even a point of view I necessarily share...

I'm starting to think people don't bother to read posts, but rather make replies just to start e-arguments...

Stupid, dirty hippies ...can't see out of the Apple box they came packaged in.

Don't forget all the steel we import from China.
