I don't know shit about any of the new phones because like 35 come out every day. Currently using a Nokia e71x. Looking to upgrade now that I've seen several phones on amazon's website for 100-250 dollars.

Usage: standard phone stuff. Also, just basically using it when running/at gym. Need to be able to input data into a spreadsheet/use a fitness APP without music going away.

Here's what I'm looking for

-AT&T (because I'm not even close to being out of my contract)
-Android or WP7
-Will replace Phone, GPS, Camera, and MP3 player.
-Has good sound via Earbuds. I do not need a good speaker, earbuds only
-Pref a QWERTY keyboard, but not a deal breaker
-could care less about 4g, but nice to have

I really don't know what I like in terms of UI. My friends are all as poor as I am so they only have dumbphones. Dunno if I'm going to tweak my rom or anything like that yet, but probably will. I'm leaning towards the S2 4g due to the ubiquitous nature of the phone. Wtf is the difference betweent he Regular S2 and the S2 skyrocket?

So here's what I'm looking at pretty much: http://wireless.amazon.com/alohab/6...yPhoneType=&&nodeID=684177011&pageSize=&rank=

thanks in advance

aren't those phones on Amazon for that price part of a 2 year contract?
Were you going to get a second line and just move the phone to your other line and pay for a non-used phone line?

those phones were for a 2yr contract renewal. Not adding a second line or anything.

Don't you have to be within 2-4 months of your contract fulfillment to renew with the full discount?

If you want to switch up Roms and get bored with lack of customizability yet you are wililling to deal with annoying force closes, get an android phone

If you want a beautiful ui that's buttery smooth and just works, get a wp7 phone.

I have not had to force close anything on my straight out of the box E4GT. And if anything is bad about Androids, it's too much customization. Stop hating on misinformation. You buy a crappy hardware phone, you're going to get a crappy phone.

As for WP7, wait for Nokia Lumia 900. It should be available any day now! That phone is damn awesome.

As for the difference between skyrocket and the regular, it's basically LTE. I suggest to be more future proof and get the skyrocket between those two choices. But I would still wait for Nokia Lumia 900 on AT&T.

First of all I'd hardly consider a sensation a phone with crappy hardware

Second, i'd hope an out of the box phone doesn't force close applications... but who buys an android phone and doesnt install any apps? Third party apps force close way more then i would like them to.

Thats another thing about android. It should just work regardless of what phone you buy. WP7 is nice because MS has standard hardware requirements for manufactures to follow so devices dont get fragmented (like android), yet they have a selection of different devices (unlike apple).

lol still using nearly 2 year old HD2 it does what I want

1. make calls
2. tether to laptop or pc
3. media player
4. radio
5. thumb drive
6. social apps like twitter and FB
7. portable TV (SPB TV software)

I guess I don't need my phone to do much and I feel no need to get bit by that $500 upgrade bug....

having a camera in the phone is a non issue as if I am going to take pix I will use a Fuji F550 EXR or my Sony SR-11 handycam as both take way better pictures than any phone currently available....

the HD2 is a beast of a phone. So ahead of its time. Probably THE most versatile phone ever made. Kinda sad i got rid of mine. Its a piece of history! What other phone can run all flavors of android (even ISC) windows mobile, windows phone, megoo, ubuntu, windows 95 98 and XP. Crazy!

Yeah! That's why I only buy Mac, cause you can't rely on windows software to run stable. Oh wait... That's a retarded argument.

Don't install shitty software, regardless of which OS you choose.

If you prefer a QWERTY keyboard, probably the only option is the Samsung Captivate Glide, but it wasn't. For the differences between the GS2 and GS2 Skyrocket, it's just like CHANG3D said, it's LTE. LTE just rolled out in my area and my coworker ran a speed test on his Skyrocket, and it was fast. I believe it was about 1.5 Megabytes. So if LTE is going to be in your area or if you want to future proof it, get an LTE phone, but be careful of going over the data cap if you don't have unlimited. For between Android or WP7, they both will do what you want. Android has more customization but WP7 seems to be quicker, at least since I got my WP7 phone about a month ago
