Grand Theft Auto 5 Trailer

Multi-platform. Pre-order cancelled.

Oh come on, did you really expect otherwise?

Day one preorder on the PC for me.

Am I fooling myself or is that Ray Liotta's voice? And am I seeing a glimpse of an older CJ and Tommy in that trailer?

It'd be cool if the main characters from the previous games show up as some kind of salute and maybe they'd be support for the new character or whatever.

I like what I see so far at this early juncture. I guess Holidays 2012 is when this thing is expected?

EDIT: You posted before I did. Missed the sarcasm WhyYouWouldLoveMe. I really wish they'd give us an edit window here.

Has a very clean look to it, lets hope they are on par with bf3 in pc optimization, otherwise i'll wait for the $10 bargain bin.

day one purchase for me, never been let down by the GTA games, extremely fun.

The atmosphere of the game hasn't changed much, its always, "Do "X" mission. Turn in mission. Watch cut scene. Do next mission."

I'd like it to feel a little more action based. Rather than just being about X character making a life for himself. An innovated combat system that feels clean and intuitive, and well supported on pc is what it needs.

Otherwise this game is getting call of duty syndrome.

i love these games multi platform or not. definitely got my money worth on gta 3 and 4.
i prefer gta over bf3 anyday.

You mean day 6-12 months after console release order?

Sure. I'll happily wait. I got GTA IV on the PS3 when it first came out. This was right before I got serious into PC gaming. I played the holy hell out of it.

The SECOND the PC version was announced I sold it, got the PC version, and yes even though it needed some patches to clean it up it was still a monumental night and day difference and like a new game to me out of the box.

^^ If I get that again, I'll be more than happy except this time I won't buy the console version first. ;)

I share your concern but frankly it's just way too early to know any of this for sure.

I certainly have gotten way more than money's worth out of all the previous GTAs. I'll be shocked if this is any exception.

Sorry for the possible double post.

Upside it looks like the same game engine as GTA4, so no new hardware needed as my rig tears that game up (in a reasonable way).

I'm guessing its exclusively the Los Santos area and maybe some outlaying areas (not San Andreas), as cool as it'd be to have the entire San Fierro, Las Ventures area, with everything in between, I can't imagine they'd put that many man hours into doing all the detail work.

Looks good though, no "ooh I'm an immigrant, what a country this is with all the customs" nor "I'm just a thug trying to make it better of himself... oh wait I did, now I get to go back to thuggery"...

Let's hope it's optimized and performs well on the PC when it's released. The very first thing I've read from several review sites and those who bought GTA IV was how badly it performed on PCs especially on high end systems at that time.

It was also panned for being a console port and being unoptimized and shoddily done for the PC. Later on, patches made by fans enhanced the look of the game and several patches done by Rockstar would alleviate most if not all of the performance issues if I recall.

That's my only worry with this game is how Rockstar is going to handle the PC version. If you're going to make a PC version, scrap any console code that would not allow the game well from the game it self, and make sure it's optimized and performs well for the PC when it's released. Two separate code forks-- unaffected by the other.

My only hope is that the guy who made the first person mod for GTA IV ports it over to GTA V. That mod changed the game for me and let me experience the world from the eyes of the character and explore the city in a way I couldn't in 3rd person.

what would be really nice is if consoles would just stop being proprietary and the code was universal and scaled to the hardware.

I'm in. GTA is one of my favorite titles. It would be nice to have Fallout 3ish style toggle for 1st and 3rd person. It would probably make mp on the PC alot more fun as well.

I also hope they'll release on Steam so I can get a TF2 hat! (fat chance...)

I'll wait to see if they have the option to change the car camera to properly follow you a la GTA:SA. I love the franchise, but staring at the wall after turning a corner ticked me off to no end.

Looks like a tweaked GTA4 engine, so current PC's should be able to run it fine.

What I always liked about San Andreas was how damned big it was. You had 3 totally unique cities and 2 different rural settings, too. It was almost like 3 games in one. Hopefully this one will keep that size and scope in mind.

Hopefully this doesn't turn into a poorly-optimized shitfest on the PC like GTA4.

Did I see a jet fly through the city?

Daaaaaamn I will get this game when it comes out.

They definitely need to change it up a bit. I saw a glimpse of potential in GTA IV where they had the bank robbing mission or something to that effect. You had to get in, get the money then escape from the police. Had an immersive feel to it. The rest of the game was "drive here to here. pick up here, go there. kill this dude, chase that dude. Dude.

Just like my repetition of the word dude, that's how GTA IV felt. Annoying.
