Diablo 3 - Beta thread

yeh because i should just blindly ass lick every half baked idea that comes out of the industry

Did you live under a rock when they made this announcement MONTHS ago?

One less whine baby to worry about on b.net.

It's ok if you don't have any standards or expectations or any knowledge whatsoever about previous Diablo games and you would like to make an uninformed judgement on the new Diablo game because you had no previous experience with Diablo titles to base it on.

In Diablo 1 and 2 you had

Single player modes
LAN play
B.net access
Stat customization

Now with Diablo 3

all you get is

B.net access

Congratulations for supporting a stripped down Diablo, really it's nothing more than Diablo Lite.

Again, you knew about this months ahead of time. Instead, move on. Play Torchlight. I'll be enjoying both (unless Torchlight 2's story sucks just like T1).

No, you just run to your corner and start banging your head on the wall and shouting nonsensical bullshit. It's ok though, you've got plenty of company over there.

He was basically saying he's not willing to be a sheeple.

Problem?

incorrect in Diablo 1 and 2 YOU had Singe Player, LAN play, B.net access, stat customization.

I had b.net access filled with dupes and hacks, And stat customization. I'll miss that stat customization, but I will not miss the other stuff. The auction house will be cool too, although I tend to play HC mode more, so I won't get to use the real money AH, just gold.

You really think that Diablo 3 will stop hacking?

I sincerely doubt it.

Nope, but hacking never affected me in the first place in D2.. those dupes were easy to obtain.. haha.

So therefore, with that in mind, there's no reason for it to NOT have an offline single player mode, correct?

I have no illusions that it won't stop hacking. But it will severely nerf it. Compare Hacks in Diablo 1 to Diablo 2 to WoW. The best people have in wow are bots (though very elaborate). I'll take that over duping items and/or creating items any day.

There is more character customization in Diablo 3 than there was in the two before it. Much more that actually matters, too.

I can see why less than 1% of the Diablo fan-base have a legitimate reason to want single player, I really do, but honestly that loss is less to blizzard than the copies that would be otherwise pirated.

Will piracy still occur or even cheating? Yes, of course.

Though it will be absolutely minimal.

Just finished my first play through on a demon hunter. Alot of fun, it really feels like diablo. Some aspects of the UI need work but the gameplay was smooth, fun, polished big time. People are really going to enjoy it.

Crying bloody murder over any game change and comparing said changes to rape/ass licking/bending over does not NOT make one a sheeple.

No, it simply makes one an informed consumer that wishes to share his opinion with others, up to, and including graphic descriptions which turn out to be apt comparisons by nature.

I'm not sure what your problem with the truth is.

See we should be listening to the people that are in the Beta, not those that are just gonna bitch all year long about how it isn't Diablo anymore (even though they haven't nor will ever play it).

THANK YOU! I've been keeping my eye on this thread, and the amount of banter regarding the feel of the game without proper objective evidence is absurd. I'm looking forward to atleast TRYING it before passing my final judgement(I think it looks great so far).

My biggest grip about this game is the camera position, its too close. I hoped it would be pulled back just a little more.

When we fight Diablo himself , he's going to be huge and probably take up the whole screen due to the closeness of the camera, that is a bummer for ranged characters.....

I'm late joining this party. D2 is my favorite game of all time and I've been waiting for D3 for years! Stoked that it's coming out. I agree, it definitely looks different than D2 but I trust Blizzard to deliver a stellar experience.

My one gripe from what I've seen thus far is that some of the character classes seem kinda...boring. Witch Doctor an Monk especially, seems like they said "OK, we want a class that's like a Necro and like a Paladin, but not quite...what've ya got?"

We'll see, hopefully I get into the beta at some point but I'm not holding my breath.

Dude, wtf are you even blabbering on about. Get off my nutsack. I was commenting on the guy moaning about no more stat distribution. He ONLY talked about stat distribution.

What're you some kind of emo kid or something? And for your information I played Diablo 1 and 2. I am well aware of what was in those games and what isn't in Diablo 3.

Here is his quote.
no stat building, game is total shit now

i DO NOT GRIND for hours to have the computer decide where my points go and so i can make the same character as everyone else, if its all loot i proclaim this game to nothing more than a fashion parade

Its actually not that bad. It looks close at first but i never had any issue keeping range and feeling that there was not enough distance between me and the mobs i was killing as a demon hunter.

So, I can't find my original CD keys, but I have all the discs. Blizzard wants $40 a set for digital downloads and I don't trust any of these key sellers.

I just reinstalled vanilla D2 single player only, so this should be fun to run around for a bit.

I got the itch real bad.

Blizzard sells it from their online store . . . .

I have my keys bound to my account.

if u think the DIABLO 3 CAMERA is close, LOL You need to check out path of exile Lols

You do realize right that without stat distro the scope of items to you will be much more limited and will make very specific builds the most desirable, yay 8 barbarians, with the same gear... and weapon.... again....

I got my F&F beta invite this morning, downloaded and installed the client. I'm still testing some low level characters but here is some footage of a Demon Hunter for those interested...

How is it that everyone is a friend or related to Blizzard? I keep seeing so many people still getting in through friends and family, the scope of the F & F is amazing.

Blizzard is a big company Wikipedia says 4,600 employees in 2009 which has definitely gone up since then. Everyone, even the customer service peons, get to send out invites (usually 5).

Uhhh...this looks fn sweet.

My connection is this ...

0. I live in southern California, work in Irvine (Blizzard home turf)
1. I work next to a guy, he's on my team of 5 people.
2. This guy is VERY tight with someone in Blizzard.
3. This someone in Blizzard a senior level director of a team that develops framework for games.
4. His team did the framework for SC2 and D3 and now Titan (last I heard)
5. My coworker gets handed F&F invites, signed retail boxes and other fan art.
6. At some point I met the Blizzard contact, but I don't think he remembers me.
7. Through my coworker I get access to excess F&F invites and free copies of (signed) games.

My connection is about as rock solid as it gets, but its filtered through my coworker. Both of these guys are very cool to hook me up.. but they do because they

1. Have an excess of invites/gear
2. Know I'm a fan.

Played it at Blizzcon 09 when they announced the Monk. Was very fun, gameplay was very tight. It was polished for a demo at least, no glaring bugs.

I can say that I am surprised it has taken this long to release, but it must of gotten so much better since I've played last.

Jealous...hrm, maybe through LinkedIn I can become F&F through the 60 degrees of separation?

Thanks for the info, I assumed you lived on the west coast and somehow knew someone. My other friend that is in the Beta is the same way, has a friend at Blizzard. Anyway, congrats and I hope you enjoy the game!

I already own the games, I just can't find the cases from 11 years ago and moving 8 times between high school, college, law school, and now work. Don't have much desire to drop $40 on keys for the games I already own when D3 will be out soon.

How's that for DRM?

Feel free to complain to Blizzard.

I'm sorry but to all of the nay sayers, this is a diablo game through and through:

If that gameplay doesn't settle that trifle of a debate, then nothing will ever please you.

Man, I wasn't sure how excited I was about the monk class, tend to favor the Wizard, but watching things like that is going to move him up my list pretty fast.

Pretty excited about D3 overall, can't wait for it to come out. I don't like the always-connected aspect any more than anyone else, but it's not enough to keep me from enjoying the game. I'm eating up the beta youtubes/streams similar to how I did before SC2 came out.

The graphics for the normal gameplay view I think look pretty good, not state of the art but solid enough. Though I'm still not sure if I like the style of the close-up portraits when you talk to NPCs etc.

Also really like the sound effects for a lot of the spells/abilities too (aside from Fan of Knives, I want to claw out my eardrums when I hear it).
