Official Deus Ex: Human Revolution thread

What kind of performance are you guy sgetting?

I expected it to run better for me.

E8400 @ 3.6
4gb ram
5850 w/ 11.8 drivers.

I can run the Witcher 2 at full settings except for the ubersampling and maintain 30+ fps on average.

IN Deus Ex I can turn down SSAO, turn off all AA, etc and it still runs like ass and is stuttering/laggy as hell.

I jump between 30 and 60FPS with everything maxed out and vsync off. I'm recording as I play though so I'm sure actual performance for me is significantly higher.

Called in from work today, played around 5hrs so far. Been kick ass so hard and is actually a tad harder than i expected. My only complaint is the load speed but its not that big of a deal.

Try without triple buffering and vynsc. Also the movement by design is a bit jerky, so it feels like you have momentum. Don't expect Q3 Arena type smooth movement.

This might be my problem then. I checked with fraps to make sure it was a framerate problem, turns out I'm pulling 50-60fps, but getting stutters for some reason, so it's probably that issue you mention as I do have one on and the other off, will try it out later when I can.

30 second load time from X-25M G2... you gotta be shitting me.

Mind-boggling...

I am running three 10k Raptor X's (120gb) in a raid 0 configuration and I am seeing 8-10s load times. (About 4-6 on quick save loads [DON'T ASK!])

Wonder what the difference is...

Is it just reading a lot of data or doing a lot of calculation too? With 8GB of RAM or more I'd expect pretty much all of the 'hot' parts of a game to be memory resident, you shouldn't be hitting disk at all on a reload (unless the devs were idiots and use APIs that bypass the buffercache).

Anyhooo... Giantbomb had a live quicklook of the game, and they commented (and I agree) that most of the pre-rendered cinematics should have been in-game instead. The switch over is really quite jarring.

I'm about 3 hours in. Very happy so far except for the load times.

Hopefully Nixxes can and will fix the loading issues.. it does take far too long.

Aside from that, it feels great and runs well.

Can't wait to play more when I get home.

The only place that takes me long to load is the city area.. most buildings load in 5secs. But that's expected for how large the city is.

If anyone is looking for the Police Cold Evidence storage locker, it's outside of the police building. Go up through the police department, exit the room and you'll find it behind the building. I spent WAY too much time trying to figure that out.

I think we were shooting for no spoilers in this thread. Just a heads up.

Need a little advice. I'm on the first mission i guess??? Getting the typhoon. I get to the hostages with timed gas bomb. every time i am unable to hack it i get locked in the room the quick save is in the room an the game freezes.i have tried about 6 times now? any ideas? I'm playing on hardest level if that helps?

Anyone else getting kind of freezes or hang ups?

Make sure you go into the Steam app, go to library, right click on DX > Properties > Local Files and run both the "Verify integrity of game cache" and "Defragment cache files"

Seems like tessellation is causing strange graphics anomalies for me:

Without Tessellation

With Tessellation

With Tessellation Zoomed

Tried updating to latest nvidia drivers. At first I thought it was gfx anomalies due to overclocking, so no OC on my video or CPU.

The problem only shows up with Tessellation enabled. Very frustrating!!!

Edit: System:

2600k
P8P67 Deluxe
EVGA GTX 580

Sig line is old.

HUD isn't centered in eyefinity :(

Game is damn hard though -- enjoying it so far.

edit: I'm reading that CAP2 fixes the centered HUD. I'll do some tinkering when I have time.

I know. Loads just as slow on my HDD. SSD did nothing to speed things up.

And the mouse controls acceleration at smoothing. Ugh. Aiming a gun feels like I'm drunk.

That mouse acceleration needs to DIAF no doubt. I need an .ini tweak or something for it, stat!

so are you guys playing with item highlighting on?

there are unfortunately far too many unusable items, it's quite annoying trying to look for things that are interactive.

if i recall correctly, nearly all the items on the map were interactive in deus ex.

i got ticked at Pritchard and went to throw a vial at his head, but i couldn't pick it up :(

edit: crap the item highlight includes doors

Without fail EVERY console port has mouse issues. What is the deal with this? Shoddy mouse code shouldn't exist, it is inexcusable. Don't they have play testers that bring this to their attention?

I wanted to push over his motorcycle. Wouldn't let me. Just through the intro part, the game has the fewest physically interactive objects I've seen from a game produced recently.

Steam update released...

An issue was found that caused some users to be unable to start the game on specific machines. Specifically, the presence of older ATI/AMD drivers, also on machines with NVidia hardware, would cause the game to crash on startup. This patch is a hot-fix for that particular issue. On top of this, it also increases the number of save-slots from 20, like on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, to 99.

Square-Enix, Eidos Montreal and Nixxes are committed to supporting this title and will continue to monitor for any further issues and provide additional patches in the future if required.

i hope they patch in an option to remove that red screen factor

Yes, the mouse movement is annoying, but I got used to it. The gargantuan load times is what's ruining the game at the moment. I use the quick save and load feature quite liberally and when it takes forever to reload something, I get annoyed. Other than that the game is fucking awesome. Playing a pacifist/ghost character and it's been challenging, but VERY satisfying. The hacking is also really adrenaline inducing. Graphics are super crisp with FXAA and the models look great with tessellation. A bit low res at times but nonetheless I'm enjoying myself. Oh and definitely play this game with headphones, there are plenty of subtle sounds and ambient music that you can barely hear through normal PC speakers. Doing so will only add to the immersion!

I think I need more memory though, running around outdoors in Detroit my hard drive starts to goes crazy and my FPS tanks.

Game only uses about 500mb of ram.. According to task manager. Not sure why everyone is having problems with mouse and load times.. They have been nothing but great for me. No mouse accel or smoothing of any kind. and load times are snappy. Only time I have noticed it taking a little longer then normal is when it loads the city hub maps.

No control issues here at all. Mouse is fine. My load times don't feel so bad either, definitely not like some of the 30-second claims I've read. My beef so far has been with the horrendous tearing and the lawlcutscenes.

Besides that the game is fantastic - I'm the explore every nook and cranny type, plus I'm playing it on the hardest difficulty (which doesn't seem that bad) so I expect a nice, long experience. I love being able to play stealthy and finding alternative ways to do things.

Story is top-notch so far too.

I just had my first crash. I took out the first guard in the very first mission (typhoon factory) and after I hid his body and rounded the corner the game froze and then crashed. This is on my laptop though (Asus G73JH, everything on except vsync, medium settings, DX11). I wont be able to try my eyefinity rig for a few months.

Thanks for the info Banko, mouse movement is killing me too.

Anyone else catch the Final Fantasy VII references there? Shintaro (Shinra) motorcycle and FFXXVII poster.

Anyone else having trouble getting it to work with SLI? I'm using twin GTX275's (for now) and I would only be able to get around 10 minutes max of gameplay before it crashed citing a driver issue. I have had the latest drivers for a while now and disabling SLI fixed the issue.
