Next To Impossible Achievements

anyone who derides achievements hasn't played a game with creative ones, that breath new life and perspective into the games.

Yeah who's Twisted Pixel? They haven't made several several top notch games in a row in the last couple years, several winning awards and user best of votes?

They couldn't possibly be one of the most original and funny game developers around now, right?

How did you fit both feet in your mouth?

Do you always look at pre-release material and make declarations on quality from your dirt throne?

You appear have some weird preoccupation with eating feet... Maybe if they made some foot eating game you'd love them even more? :p

"Winning awards" and "user scores" mean crap all to how great I think something is, especially for "other games" which happen to not be this one. I tend to form independant thoughts based on experiences and availible material. Your opinion of amazement with generic gameplay will phaze my view of it being amuturish and poorly controled kinect crappery will have to be based on experience of the video of it being kinect controlled crappery and not "other peoples opinions". This isn't a democracy. Every other person in the world could go crazy for how amazing this is, it still means next to nothing as it wont be them playing it. I am not into hero worship of companies, they all throw out the occasional turd. If theres a free demo I will try and confirm this/whatever not just buy because "these people said so" or "this last game was amazing".

Enjoy your foot with release day DLC. :p

You keep putting your foot in your mouth. It's an expression. Your bewilderment at it's use only heaps on the head shaking at your expense.

Yes. Instead of those valuable metrics, pre-release videos hold more water with you. This is why you deserve derision, and why I commented in the first place.

Your opinion of amazement with generic gameplay

actually I haven't said a lick about what I think of the game, let alone it's gameplay. You know, especially since it's not finished, or out, nor have I played it.

This isn't a democracy.

er, what isn't? It's not an ice-cream cake either, whatever you're talking about.

If theres a free demo I will try and confirm this/whatever not just buy because "these people said so" or "this last game was amazing".

By the "/whatever" I take it to mean "or dispel my previously held convictions". And the arguing against "just buying it"? Did anyone at any point advocate doing that? Your post holds me quote, but I certainly said nothing of that.

Enjoy your foot with release day DLC. :p2

I'm not sure of the value of this parting shot. Release day DLC sucks I suppose, but I don't buy games at full price and thus not on release day so I'm not terribly concerned about when DLC is released, if at all. Did they announce release day DLC for this game? What is the relevance here? Don't actually answer that, it was rhetorical. You're demonstrated quite enough how poorly formed your opinions are.

You have sorely missed the point that those "user opinions" were of other games which aren't this one. The video is of this game, thefore it's relevence is arguably more important?

Generally if someone attempts to counter a negative point this infers to a positive opinion of something. Especially coupled with positive things said about the previous games made by the studio and such, it doesn't take much to connect the dots, even though things haven't been said explicitly.

If I had of said "this looks amazing! Why this appears to be what I have been missings from my not so amazing gaming life! The way that the intricate controls directly control the action are simply amazing!" would you have responded in a similar way?

Inferral. Read it again, I said unless "there's a free demo" from which to get play experience from. Apparently my personal opinions based on the entirety of currently availible evidence from my "dirt throne" are meaningless, thus it is inferred that the only way of assertaining greatness in any meaningful way is from playing the game, there is no demo, what other option is left?

Yes they have announced 2 months earlier, the game comes with codes for some release day DLCs... decided pre release...

Games with achievements need to work like mass effect, period.

I don't give a shit about achievements unless they unlock something for me in game. That is the key to fun and adding replay value to games, which is far more important than waving your dick at someone because you have a higher number on an arbitrary system that means absolutely nothing.

Especially when some games hand it out like candy and others make you spend hours grinding crap for them.

Stupid system. Have them unlock stuff in games, or unlock stuff out of games or why waste time implementing them. Spend that time making more content or polishing the game.

Reminds me of Dead Space 2, you only have 3 saves, and if you die you have to go back to the last save, it is also on the hardest difficulty too.

Have played dozens of games with creative ones, and the system is still terrible.

Achievements are for gamers who care more about their worthless gamer score then actually being good at the game or having fun.

Same way I feel about "stats" in games. People who wont have fun, or be silly in game so teir "accuracy" and "kill/death" whatever ratios stay higher than everyone elses. But, that really means nothing to being a good player. A good player will still beat one with the highest "stats" scores possible just because they are better, those numbers aren't armor. It just means playing the game is a whole lot less fun.
Playing games with people who wont fire weapons or take difficult shots because it will affect their accuracy rating is rediculous! Stats stop people having fun for no reason. :(
