Which Games Do You Have Pre-Ordered Digitally?

It's really about the games themselves, not the DD platform, except for the fact that with digital, you usually cannot cancel a pre-order. So, that's why I'm curious, as it makes a statement about just how much trust you have in the game(s) you've pre-ordered ending being great.

For my wife and I, on Steam we have pre-ordered:

Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Saints Row: The Third
Rage

We would have Serious Sam 3 pre-ordered already, but it's not available for purchase as of yet.

Unsure of Dead Island, though it looks good, so might not pre-order it before any reviews are released.

Nothing currently... the only one I will probably pre order digitally at some point will be BF3. SWTOR and Mass Effect 3 will be retail collector's edition purchases for me, and I can't think of any other games coming out in the next 8-12 months or so that blow my skirt up.

Never have and never will. Only pre-ordered 2 physical copies of a game and that was a utter waste too.

Deus Ex Human Revolution AE, but due to the particular situation of this game it wasn't exactly a blind leap. DX is my favorite game, and I was originally going to take wait and see until the sale approach, but I moved up to considering paying $67 (vs. the $40 I ended up paying digitally) to preorder at Gamestop for the physical art book and bonus mission.

I preorderd Dow 2 Retribution a week before release, D2D had a coupon sale. Also the game had an open beta, so that wasn't exactly a leap of faith either. The only game I really preordered somewhat blindly was The Witcher 2 the day before release. Both of these exceeded expectations, here is hoping DXHR continues that streak.

The only games I'm considering preordering at the moment, that are available for preorder with firm release dates, are BF3 and Space Marine. Skyrim is still not available, so didn't count that. I might get From Dust if I'm feeling lucky over the next week.

Really for preorders for me it depends on the discount and bonus. Otherwise I don't see any advantage in preordering a game versus waiting for impressions. With digital it isn't even an issue of not being able to buy a copy due to it being sold out or shipping times.

Space Marine MP info might finally be release tomorrow, so that may decide whether I go for it or not. I really should've taken the chance to beta test since Relic is located where I live.

Just pre-ordered From Dust today. Was 10.20 so I won't be too upset if it's late/not downloadable for some reason.

Of course, no worries about not being able to just order a game immediately if the reviews end up being good, and no, there's no real "advantage", unless there's some content coming with a game that's only available with pre-ordering.

However, most people do pre-order games they feel they're going to love and feel are going to be great, so I'm just curious to see what games people have enough "faith in" as to pre-order digitally because, as I've said, digital pre-orders usually cannot be canceled. Not with Steam, at least... with very, very few exceptions.

So, once the money is spent on a pre-order on Steam, it's spent.

Since BF3 isn't available on Steam and my wife and I don't use any other DD, we just pre-ordered two physical copies for a few bucks a piece. Not sure I've quite the same faith in it as a whole as I originally had, so honestly, of all games, BF3 is one I might have waited on until seeing some feedback.

We've also physical copies of Skyrim pre-ordered since, again, we don't use any other DD service. Not even heard where it's going to be available for digital download either.

DE:HR and SR:TT we've absolute trust in being excellent games in their own right for what they'll offer, and Rage I've pre-ordered for myself for now, since I love the visuals and some of the gameplay aspects. The whole post-apocalyptic thing has been done to death, but I'm getting the feeling there's going to be a bit more depth to it than what appears to be on the surface.

Nothing. I think I've only pre-ordered once ever, and that was about a day or two before release because I heard good things. Don't remember which game that was though. MMOs are usually day-one purchases for me because there are betas where you can hear about people's thoughts on the game, but anything other than that, I wait for the reviews.

Nothing, the only game I've ever preordered digitally was BFBC2 because I wanted to try the beta. The only other game I've preordered was retail, The Witcher 2, simply because it came with a free mouse and pad with preorders.

I think the likelihood is that it will use Steamworks, so will be on Steam (regardless of where you buy). Brink and New Vegas used Steamworks. Rage has been hinted at to use Steamworks from various sources as well. Of course MS could come at the last moment with a bag of cash and GFWL.

But physical preorders I think give you some swag in the form of a map?

nothing and I never will. Preorder bonuses are a complete joke anymore. Besides you preorder so you can get a game the day it comes out. Is that ever a problem for anybody anymore?

I preordered Half Life 2. The silver package to be exact, so I could play CS:S early.

I do not pre-order by principle -- I refuse to give my money for a product that is not even finished or out. I also consider pre-orders to be one of the things that is wrong in gaming today; it's the door open to all this exclusive down-loadable content nonsense.

None at the moment and I can't think of any coming up soon. Last game I pre-ordered was Portal 2. I'll probably reserve the new Zelda game, but that obviously isn't digital nor PC.

Natural Selection 2. Cause NS1 was awesome so they deserve my money.

I'm not sure whether or not the standard edition comes with the map.

Yeah, Rage uses Steamworks.

As for Skyrim, I thought it might be on Steam, but there's no mention of it anywhere, which I'd think there would be given it's due out in early November. But, I'll be keeping an eye out, that's for sure.

Oh, and the thread isn't about pre-ordering for just swag or extras. It's just about whether or not people have pre-ordered based on their love for a game, and/or trust in how well they feel it's going to turn out, with the "risk" of pre-ordering digitally without the ability to cancel. Personally, that's the only reason I've certain things pre-ordered, not necessarily for any bonuses you might receive.

I know there are a great number of people here who pre-order certain titles, though it seems that most who are responding thus far don't pre-order at all, which is interesting.

I only preorder if it's from a dev I like and there's a good discount (like Valve 4 packs) for doing so. At the moment nothing qualifies.

Nothing. I don't see the point in pre-ordering unless it gets you locked into a great price. I rarely buy games at release, but stuff like 4 pack + preorder discount for $34 per copy on Steam definitely sweetens the pot. Even then, I "pre-order" a few hours before release.

Deus Ex Human Revolution AE via Onlive (yes I should be burn at the stake  ) my pc is more than capable of running it (2 x GTX480 in SLI i920 @ 4.2, 12 gig of Sector 7 DDR3 etc etc) but since they offer the game and the game system for free I couldn't resist. Besides I can always pick it up through steam during their Christmas sale ;)

I'm honestly thinking or pre-ordering DE:HR just because the leak was so damn good.

Last one I pre-ordered was Call of Pripyat. About the only upcoming game I'd pre-order is STALKER 2.

I won't pre-order a game unless there is a clear benefit to doing so, most of the time there isn't.

Last game I pre-ordered was Quake 4, because I got a cool t-shirt. I'mma sucker for t-shirts:)
Of course when the game didn't show up in the mail on release day I was so mad I called up and cancelled the order, put on my t shirt and drove to Gamestop to buy it.

So, once the money is spent on a pre-order on Steam, it's spent.

You can request a refund for pre-orders on Steam and as long as the game isn't released, they will comply, no questions asked.

I personally have the AE of Deus Ex pre-ordered on Steam. If From Dust shows up for pre-order there, I'll get it too.

Currently I have Deus Ex (GMG) and Battlefield 3 (D2D) pre-ordered online. Both were pre-ordered with pretty decent discounts so it was a no-brainer as I was going to get them close to release anyway.

Totally playable but imbalanced because the onos and heavy armor are not in the game yet and they are still working out balance. Still pretty damn fun to play.

What ^ said. Still some bugs to be worked out but you can get a game going with enough people and have fun. http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/ has some in game videos up and I put some screenshots in the super high resolution ss thread page 17

portal 2 for the 10% off. i was willing to buy it full price so... i also got a copy of portal 1 to give to a friend.
