or rather my family's SSF systems, Ill make separate posts for the parents' rigs, and even one for my htpc, my main rig is gonna get its own thread though (teaser at the bottom of this post)
for the little bro

SG05
FPS 300w
Gigabyte H55n-USB3
i3 530
2x2gb G Skill Eco 1600mhz
MSI GTX460 Twin Frozr
WD 1TB Black
Slim SATA DVD R/W
Scythe Shuriken Rev. B

He games a bit and screws around with home movies, so I wanted something with a little more oomph than IGP

Pretty straightforward SFF/low power rig, wires are a bit squirrely, but airflow is unobstructed, and thats all that I could care about on this one

temps are great! with the S-flex on intake and AC 92mm fan on the Shuriken I idle around 25C and load at <40C. The Twin frozr is also a beast, idles at around the same 25C and loads (auto fan) at 55C, hard to beat!

He will be getting a few more handy downs shortly to really give it the edge
including my DFI MI-P55-T36 and i5 760, and to rid him of that awful mechanical drive, my ocz agility 120gb, I also think Ill swap out the sugo 300w for my SG05 BB 450w I have lying around, even that crappy psu should have able to handle this rig

and here's a teaser for my main rig

Bit of a stetch on SFF, but it is mATX, and will be mITX before too long.

Compaq mATX Case
Thermaltake 430w
Asus P5G41-M CSM
Pentium 4 630 <---holding it down!
2x2gb Crucial 1333mhz
Intel X25-V 40GB
Embedded G41 chipset graphics
Whatever rebranded 775 heatsink that came Compaq OEM

My mom has had some pc issues of late, and her crap old compaq rig was dying. I didnt want her (or probably me) forced into buying a brand new setup, since most of my little brothers build will be going to her when I delegate some new equipment to him. So I decided to buy the stuff I would be need when she inherits the h55n-usb3 and i3 530, and try to bandaid her for the time being.
I had the PSU lying around, and picked up 2gb from a friend in post #5, and got the matching set off newegg for $15, Open box g41 board for $35, and got the SSD used for $60, and the RAM and SSD will be reused when she inherits the mITX setup, worked out pretty well imo.
While the CPU and GPU are defintely lacking, my mom hardly does anything on the PC that could be mistaken for intensive. I did want however, a fast, snappy system and I think 4gb of ddr3 and an SSD were a much better buy than a cheap dual core and low end GPU.

I had some doubt since the case used a few proprietary connectors, but I atleast got the power switch to function! Cable management is once again lacking, but not too horrible for a 2 minute job and a non removable back (other side) panel. Everything is plumbed but the DVD drive since its IDE and Im hoping to swap it out with SATA instead of actually running the IDE ribbon.

my sandy bridge HTPC, kind of my pride and joy atm - although I am ruining it with such a large case

You can see the specs in my sig

Im pretty psyched on this build for now, and im hoping its core components will be lasting my long into the future. Considering it handles 3d blu-ray playback with ease, I can't see needing more power on this for a long long time.
BUT! It is by no means complete, I really want to put it in either an M350 or ISK 100 case, I will be doing that just as soon as anyone releases some 2tb+ 2.5" HDDs. I will probably jump on board with an even lower-pro cooler at that point, the scythe kozuti? is looking preeetty slick.

Enjoy!

Some obligatory naked board shots

Oooo dropped in an i3-2100t

the Intel mSATA SSD

Some G skill ECO RAM

one day of these days we will see this two combined

PicoPSU, and its iddy biddy clearance from the RAM

some shots with the cooler installed (minus fan) we have a 6.7"x6.7"x2.75" complete PC at this point

and with the fan, its adds some dumb height and ruins the entire build, but its much quieter/better than the stock slim fan

Black i/o shield, way to go ECS!

Placing in my Apex case..

If you havent noticed by now, I seem to include one of these fans in every build, I got them for $2 shipped a pop on that last mwave deal, and ive been pretty dang pleased so far. I would be using one for my main rig too, but I have an even better 92mm fan for that..

I seemed to have forgotten how to use my focus on these next two shots, but they show my 2tb storage (for now) drive and the empty psu plate where I would love to put dual 60mm fans, if anyony has some to slang let me know!!

reserved for awesomeness *this space up for sale to the highest bidder* :D

Nice work, cj3waker! You have done well to convert your entire family to the L[ittle] side :p

I used that Thermaltake 430w in a budget build a couple of years ago. Have to admit, I didn't expect much, but I've been rather surprised every time I drop by I check out his system...it's been a pretty solid performer. Not too loud either.

Any reason why you have your fans on backwards in the Compaq?

Best,

Liquid Cool

What graphics card is on that DFI board? Actually, what cooler is on it?

toying with fan orientation, I think the sensor on the cpu is broke so its hard to compare

thanks man. I will be much more stoked when my mom is also running itx, that mATX is just so huge for a lesser build

Than thhhhhaaaaat.

ahh, well besides my dads, which I dont have too many pics of and isnt too terribly exciting, there wont be much else until some hardware is changed around when I upgrade (LGA 2011)

but I will be posting another thread for my main rig once I sort out a few issues
