Corsair: 650D

I just hope this corsair link thing will have a 5.25 adapter, Because if not, I dont have a 3.5 bay or adapter. For the price its going for, I'm sure it prolly will. Would be kinda dumb not to, Because none of their cases have a 3.5 bay.

If not, Then thats another bit of $$ to spend to get a 5.25 to 3.5 adapter.

I know man the dollars do add up, I just try to plan it ahead a few months every purchase and if you are using your pc for your work, then you can write it off taxes, cool.

Unbelievably, Killer Rig! The Rear Cabling is pure Artwork! You should meet Mr. Faulkton, wait, are you Mr. Faulkton?

Hell if a ax850 can run 2 580s and all those TY-140s, LOL, Then it would be fine w/ my single 580 ;)

You should get realtemp 3.67, It shows the cpu speed :)

What size fan have you got in the front? Is that an easy swap? I like this case - but I don't think I like the corsair fan choices..

I wanted to ask George/Redbeard, since now you have officially released a case that has USB 3.0 motherboard headers, when will you be releasing the replacement for the 650D ? Also, will you be providing them for free as Coolermaster is doing with their HAF-X case?

Hey Wetmacula, how did you mount two ty-140's on the top? What 120 to 140mm fan converter did you use.

With Noctua clips, but you could easily create your own out of wood/metal, using a drill press or a vice and hand drill.

Nice setup WetMacula... I had thoughts on putting a fan to feed the gpus like you did.

I have 2 Noctua 140s mounted up top like that using the clips too. Real nice fit.

Why don't you start that thread and stay the hell away from here? It would make so many of us so happy!

Nice comeback...... You rock!

Why thank you, I take that as a compliment, dude please try to be helpful to others if you have outstanding information to share, this thread is more than just an intro to the 650D chassis, we try to help each other here, on all modifications of the case and all new products that are compatible with the 650D, and yes a Corsair representative, Mr. Redbeard is a regular and does so much for us, gives us great advice and you are welcome to do the same. Just please don’t come here spreading negativity and complaints, if you have a valid issue, post it here, there are so many people that have already went thru something similar they will be able to help you in an instant. I think Cat1yst created this thread with all good intentions in mind; we are just trying to keep it that way, so help us out!

So many TY-140's....

It's...it's...

Beautiful.

Joe has found his moment of clarity!;) Finally found his perfect fan solution, Joe try the passive thang and use your TY-140s as top exhausts or just order like 8 more of em and spread 'em around, they look awesome! I love that specialized front gpu TY-140 with the tiestrap lockdown, great imagination, how much do the TY-140s cost per unit? and do they come with attenuators?

So my case came today and as I was admiring it, in all of it's $200+ glory, I noticed something strange...

I'm actually a lot more bummed about this than maybe I should be, but when I spent this much on a case, I was hoping everything would be flawless. I mean, who wants to buy an error case if I ever try and sell this when I upgrade in the future? :(

Wow, Talk about a slip through QC. I am sure corsair can rectify that mistake though, Just send redbeard a msg about it, Sure he'll take care of it.

yeah that is crazy, if you have some simple very thin like jewler's tools you may be able to just lift it and rotate it upright, I tried mine and can pull it up with a good careful fingernail, but if you dont want to take the chance of scratching that beautiful mesh, just rma the panel, they will have a new one out to you in no time. Otherwise beautiful case!

The TY-140's are around 15 a piece, and they do not come with attenuators.

They're rated at 17db, so unless I can figure out a way for them to run just a bit more quiet than that I might have to look at something else. Works great on the CPU cooler so far, but it is not connected to any sort of fan control. I am not in a situation where every degree counts and am doing absolutely insane overclocking, so I just have to find some fans that keep the air moving but are really quiet. Maybe lower than 17db wouldn't be very noticeable. Maybe I can somehow attenuate the TY-140s.

That's probably the one area I could improve in: knowing more about fan control and dealing with voltages and whatnot.

WetMac, totally insane rig man, the best rear cabling I have seen, and I thought vasvas and faulkton did an amazing job, we are not worthy, we are not worthy!

Does anyone else have trouble closing the top cover of the HDD hotswap port/fan controller? I have to stick a pen in the back of the cover in order to get it to push all the way forward and lock.

What a great rig. I have a few questions for you.

Which front mesh drive panels are those and where'd you pick them up? I'd love to get a fan in there.

How much is cooling improved by moving the hard drive rack back instead of in the front? I don't plan on swapping any different fans in there just yet, but I'm worried that overall airflow temps in the case are higher with the hard drive rack right up against the front. However, It's annoying to look at my hard drive through the window. I'm just trying to figure out the pros and cons.

I'd appreciate it if anyone can weigh in on this. I currently only have one hard drive in the rack and I don't foresee adding any additional ones in the future.

Redbeard

I don't care about getting a fix for free but I would like to know if a fix or accessory will be available anytime soon?

I think you'd see a good change as the stock 200s are low pressure/high volume, but like myself and alot of others needing a case this size, your psu may be too large to allow the needed space

I do too. I've found that if you slide it flat like, it'll pop into place easier.

The mesh bay covers are from a 600T but they are not identical to the covers on the 650D, and do not sit flush. They protrude from the front panel by a few mm's. At first, I was irked then realized it is actually benefit. I can pull each cover off and blow the dust out from the integral filter without removing the entire front panel. The fan is mounted inside a single piece of open cell foam cut to fit. I used a metal edge and box cutter.

I have not tried the stock fans or hard drive locations, so no comments on difference in cooling. Any obstructions will impede air flow and increase noise. Wiring the drives from the location I have the bay in now, was a real pain in the ass. Note, it blocks access to the bottom tray, so I just tossed an SSD there.

Also, I removed the external USB 3.0 bracket from accessory, connected the front panel connectors to the remaining bit, and tucked the whole thing under the plastic shelf.

The TY-140 at the front intake made an unpleasant noise when pulling suction on the stock mesh. I cut out the mesh and the noise disappeared. I don't see the point of the 200 mm mesh in front if the filter covers it? Suspect it would have been cheaper to build the die and stamp too.

To be honest, if I didn't game with headphones, the video cards would have been water-cooled. Under full load, they are simply too hot and too loud for my taste, even with tweaked fan profiles, high flow brackets, fancy TIM, and a fan blowing over them. With headphones, the noise and heat is tolerable. I suspect an intake fan mounted where the window is would make a significant difference. Before cutting up the window, I will wait a few weeks to see if Corsair offers a mesh replacement.

Speaking of the window, mine looked like someone cleaned it with a burlap sack. I hand polished all the scratches out using the Novus 3 part system. The little bottles will set you back about 10 bucks and they can be used to polish all kinds of shit like auto headlamps, motorcycle wind screens, etc... Use No. 2 for deep scratches, then No. 1 to buff out the haze.

All (8) fans are connected to Asus fan expert motherboard headers and I set custom profiles using their software. At idle, it is super quiet. I used (2) akasa apache blacks, even though they have the same full speed rpm as TY-140's, they have a much lower rpm at reduced voltage. See "chassis 1" vs "chassis 2" from the screen caps. Asus confirmed, that on the Z68 pro, all fan headers can handle 1 amp and the CPU_OPT works in tandem with CPU.

I did some more testing last night during an hour of Crysis 2. The system was drawing around 750 watts at the wall, about 100 more than the 630 indicated in the screen shot.

Joe, sending you a Prolimatech MK-13, a Thermalright RAD2 GTX, an Arctic Cooler Accelero S1, two Noctua 6db fans and two 5v attenuators. At least something here has got to give you an amazing ultra-quiet 6db gpu solution. Give me a couple days to locate all the numerous hardware, nuts bolts washers gaskets etc, and then I’ll send the package out to you.

I believe they are going to release a side panel w/ mesh for the 650D, But cant say for sure, That you can mount, I believe 4 fans on, Like done on the 600T.

Ask redbeard if its true.

Yeah its a tad hard to close all the way for me, But no biggie.

Considering that another Corsair rep told me yesterday that they are not planning on selling a non-windowed side panel separately for the 650D I doubt they plan on offering many customizations online.

That being said you never know.

Sorry, maybe I missed the answer in the thread somewhere. Is the H100 going to fit in the top of the 650D in a push/pull setup?

Seems like we all have questions for Mr. Redbeard, he is still in Taipei, hopefully will chime in soon and let us know an exact date for the H100 release. With the new X79 mobos coming out in Aug/Sept the CPU socket is positioned more towards the center of the board than the rear, with 2DIMMs on either side of the extra-large LGA2011 socket. That will place the H100 more forward and in a better aesthetic position to view thru the 650D window, things just keep getting better!;)

I just got my shipping notice from Amazon so anyone else who ordered through them will hopefully be getting their case soon.

Hey guys, just got back from Computex. Going to spend most of the weekend with my wife and daughter, but I'll be sure to pop in here and answer some questions whenever I get a chance.

Some of the first ones:

1. Yes, we'll release a mesh side panel insert for the 650D that you can easily swap out with the stock window. We're tooling it now, so I'm going to have to check with our engineer for availability when I get back to work on Monday.

2. We could sell a solid side panel for the 650D fairly easily if there is enough demand. The side panels are interchangeable so all it would be is putting it into a new box and selling it on our webstore.

3. Taipei is very humid.

Count me in for one...I'm really liking this case.
