So, the Antec Neo 550 that has been running this sytem 24/7 for the last ~1.5 years died on me today. Anybody have a recommendation for a new PSU?

Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P
AMD XII 240
2x 1gb DDR3
nVidia 8400gs
2x 2tb Hitachi 7200rpm
1x 2tb Seagate 5400rpm
3x 1tb Seagate 7200rpm
1x 500gb Seagate 7200rpm
1x 400gb Seagate 7200rpm

That's a lot of hard drives, this a file server or something?

I diss the Corsair CX430 a lot since it assumes an unrealistic +5V and +3.3V load; but with that many hard drives you WILL have high +5V loads.

BUT on the other hand you will have very high +12V loads on POST due to the HDDs spinning up, that adds a huge transient inductive load, around 15-35W a piece. I actually would advise a *much* higher wattage than usual PSU because of that --

*UNLESS* your motherboard or SATA card or whatever supports staggered spinup so that you don't have several hundred watts of inductive load all at once.

Actually it's a storage box for Blu-ray rips. Pretty much just a big NAS made from spare parts. I was surprised the new could handle the ~250watts of startup load the hard drives generate. No staggered spin up options. I looked into it.

The Corsair TX series are good power supplies. If you keep your eyes out you can usually find a 650w for around $60 or the 750w for $80 after rebates.
