1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc

Revit/Autocad, basic vid editing (grabbing vid off the camcorder, simple edits, encoding), and WoW.

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?

Lets call it $500ish on the low end.

3) Where do you live?

NJ - not near Microcenter, but I can head out that way if I really really have to.

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.

Minimum - mobo, proc, ram, case, power supply, vid card.

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.

If I can avoid it, none. If I have to, DVD burner, hard drive.

6) Will you be overclocking?

Can, don't have to, don't care.

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?

Monitor - 22" 1680x1050. May go dual later, or hook it up to the 46" - 1080p.

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?

Mid-September.

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.

Firewire & enough expansion that I could add another video card. Beyond that is just a plus.

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?

7 ultimate 64 bit

-------------

Convinced the fiance that I should get a new machine - the tradeoff is getting rid of the PC this one is replacing, plus selling the imac. Cash is a bit flexible, but I'm doing the wedding-saving thing, so less is more.

Thanks

Any issues with these choices?

Also, theres a deal running on the case and psu (separately, not a combo), so if these look ok, I may just buy them now and pick up the rest mid-September. Unless they go on sale for big, then I figure its worth it to buy.

Any issues with what I picked out?

+1 to It_shiro's post. At the very least you should change your psu - raidmax is bad news.

Got it, PSU swapped, hd I'll swap out as well - only issue with the motherboard is I was hoping for built-in firewire. I need it for a few things, and I could get an addon card, seems an unecessary add. Is there any issue with the motherboard I had listed?

Thanks again!

Ditch the MSI HD 5770. NO matter how good it is, it's priced way way too close to that of the significantly faster GTX 460 video card:
$200 - eVGA 768-P3-1360-TR GeForce GTX 460 768MB PCI-E Video Card
$230 - Gigabyte GV-N460OC-1GI GeForce GTX 460 1GB PCI-E Video Card

So my fiance's netbook's wireless took a dump, and I have to replace her mini-pci-e wifi card. Which means I'm going to be placing an order at newegg....

And while I can't buy everything right now, I figured I'd pick up a couple of sale items. I think I'm going to buy the case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...-_-na-_-na&AID=10521304&PID=3891137&SID=194r0 which has a big discount right now, and a power supply.

Here is the PSU I was thinking:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...7341017&cm_re=ocz_600w-_-17-341-017-_-Product

After the rebate (expires 8/31) the psu is only $50. I know, its about 150W more than I need, but if I do upgrades later, it'd be in my favor. Considering the price point, I'm thinking this works. Any comments about this PSU before I order?

Thanks again guys!

Thanks for all the input - I pulled the trigger on the whole lot.

Just an update - I got everything in the next day, except for the ram and the DVD burner (which came in this morning). This sucker is QUIET, installing Win 7 right now :D
