I just mounted my mini-ITX motherboard into a fullsize case so I can install a full size GPU (GPU hopefully going to be on order tomorrow). I think I have officially lost it, but atleast now I can add more HD's.

I think you'll find many of your type around here - and I think a lot of people run caseless for one or more reasons anyhow :p

Sounds like the start of the folding bug.

I forsee an X6 upgrade soon.

Well the system (former HP s3307c) was my WHS Vail beta box (maybe still will be). I hacked up a crappy powersupply since the one that was in it went bad and HP used a shrunk down ATX power connector. Nice thing about not having the crappy HP powersupply is I now have a PCI-E power connector. This is going to be a GPU only folder since I dont think the old Athlon X2 4200+ makes much PPD to be worth running the SMP client.

:) This guy is gonna fit in nicely around here.....

More of my setups found here :D http://s1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff448/itsrickjames/

I will be adding more pics later :) of the 635 setup after I get done being depressed that bulldozer won't work in a AM3 socket....

What GPU?

Probably a GT240 I don't want to tax the power supply too much as it was pulled from another HP (330W if I remember correctly). Didn't want to hack up a new power supply for this. I do however have one of those Thermaltake addon PSU's that I could use in it. It is only the 250W model that just has 2x pcie power connectors.

Use the add in.

An HP PSU running a real GPU 24/7 is just a time bomb.

When you have a chance to grab a EA380 or similar on sale/used.

I approve of this build.

Also, I have a used Antec 380 Watt PSU and a brand new Antec 430 Watt PSU that I will probably be selling soon. Send me a PM if you are interested. Both are 80+ Bronze, I believe.

I am still trying to find an adapter for the atx to small atx connector (anyone know where I can get one?). I cut and spliced the one that is on the current power supply just to make sure the motherboard was still good as the PC took a surge and burnt the power supply out (before I had it). I will send you a PM when I find one and pay some bills :D.

Heh...........

Welcome to the addiction friend! Next thing you know, you are going to try to stuff a Thuban on that motherboard.

I was already looking @ that lol. Well more like throwing the Thuban in my quad machine and the athlon II x4 in it, but its only a AM2 not a AM2+ :(. I have a feeling this mini-itx board may be temporary lol.

Well the GT240 is on order. I paid $39.99 for it after rebates with free 3day shipping. Unfortunately like my 8800gts it is a evilvga product.

Disclaimer: I have nothing against evga or any of their products. The comment was just in spirit of competition only. :p

Most, if not all, HP Slimline mITX/DTX boards had a 65W TDP limitation. Check out the HP Slimline thread, [h]ere.

Yea this board seems to have that limitation as well. Oh well I guess it will just be a low power gpu folder/file server for now. I got it to replace my aging socket A file server. Oh and thanks for finding that adapter I didnt have a chance to look. I will be ordering that tomorrow.

Now that we know that there will be AM3 compatible versions of the upcoming Bulldozer, you could just go ahead and spring for a new motherboard and cpu. Both the 1055T and 1090T's overclock very well, although a quality motherboard is needed.
