Steam Deals! (Jun 24 2010)

edit whoa they changed them. !
AvP is a decent buy, SS:HD DP I will probably pick that up finally, that's almost too cheap not to.

Guess someone made a mistake. I overlooked them at first, SS doesn't look to bad now.

the packages are irritating though when you already have some of the games. I would love to get the Call of Duty pack for $29.99 but I already have call of duty 1 and 4. :(

If you wanted 2/UO and WaW you still probably wouldn't find them cheaper than $30. I bought the pack for $30 even though I own the collector's edition of all those games.

It dropped more. ;) I guess they were in the process of posting the discounts when I refreshed the page.
I wish RE5 was more like RE4, I didn't like the demo on the 360. Something about it was just different to me for some reason.

RE5 was actually a very good port, at $12.50 that's a hell of a deal

Really tempted by RE 5 and Ghostbusters...probably going to pass on both, though. Too many expenses this summer to be buying even cheap games unless I really want them.

That said, I hope some games I REALLY want go on sale this week :D

man, first look these deals were awful, then after steam updated them, it looks like I'm gonna be spending more money....

is RE5 worth the $12? I'm assuming yes, but lets hear your opinions!

Galcon Fusion is $2.50 and looks intriguing, but I've thrown away too much on $2-5 games that weren't worth it, is this one any good? I'm mostly interested to play it on my macbook.

Guess I'll get RE5, Ghostbusters, and The Serious Sam pack. I only need the 2nd encounter, but I have a friend who'll love the first enc.

Fucking steam. In my wallets.

Taking my monies.

I absolutely loved RE4, I bought the GC ver and then bought the Wii ver as well. I was so excited that RE5 would have the same over the shoulder limb/aiming mechanic, then I played the demo of RE5 on the 360 and I didn't like it.

I'm hard pressed to say it's not worth $12.50 but the other thing that irritates me here is that (in standard Capcom fashion), they double dipped with RE5 and now there's a "Gold edition" on 360 and Ps3 with a lot of extra stuff. Now, normal RE5 360/Ps3 owners can get the new stuff as DLC, but there's no word on PC owners getting the stuff as DLC so it could happen but it probably won't. For that reason I almost want to hold out even though it's $12.50. IDK...I'm gonna mull over it for awhile.

just snagged GhostBusters, almost did yesterday but today sealed the deal... DAMN U STEAM!

of course I bought lead and gold yesterday. MUTHER****.

Heh. You were warned to hold off on the other deals till the last day. :p

In for RE5. Have AvP, but for a buck twenty five, I'll not even bother with the CD. Have the first Serious Sam, but not the second. Tis cheaper to buy the two pack than just the second edition.

As someone pointed out, the THQ pack is not too shabby

13 games with 6 expansion packs for $50

Valve needs to develop an android or iphone app so I could get on these deals

The collector in me says I need to buy these games, the adult living in the real world in me says I have no fucking time to play them anyway. I gotta stay away from Steam. :(

In the meantime - again, you can log into their site with any browser, buy the stuff, and install it later (assuming of course you login with the same username on the site and the client itself). :)

Sonofa....
can't say I'm surprised. quick google search gets me this:

Resident Evil 5 DLC Not Planned for PC
by Alice O'Connor Nov 23, 2009 10:45am CST

Capcom has "no plans for PC at this point" for the recently-announced Resident Evil 5 downloadable content or DLC-bundling 'Gold Edition,' a representative has told G4tv.

Scheduled for release on March 9, the Gold Edition of Capcom's action horror includes a prequel mission, a new episode and two costume packs--all of which will receive seperate releases as downloadable content. The Xbox 360's Gold Edition contains a download code for new content, while the PlayStation 3 version packs it onto a disc.

However, it would not be uncharacteristic for Capcom to release a PC edition later. Street Fighter 4 arrived on PC five months after its console release, as did Devil May Cry 4, and Resident Evil 5 was not announced for PC until two months after it hit consoles.

I think I'll still get it anyway probably. I'll definitely go back and play the demo again a few more times before tomorrow. ;)

Thanks for the heads up, it sounds like a plan :)

Witcher for $6 I lost my disk when I moved. Hell yes

machinarium also 1/2 off if anyone is interested.. although i wish it was $5 instead of $10

http://store.steampowered.com/app/40700/

I'll be watching Machinarium, hope it will be a daily deal, but I have my doubts given the genre.

Bought the Introversion $5 pack for Multiwinia and Defcon. Was also considering Northern Lights Indies pack for Bob Came in Pieces and Crayon Physics Deluxe, but I don't think I'd be willing to spend that much for them. I'll probably get M&B: Warband instead. Holding off until I see the other daily deals.

For the record, ghost busters was pretty much a certain one day deal. As in, I was going to buy it last night, and then thought "no, this is going to be a one day deal." It's kind of your fault if you already bought. If you're no good at guessing what will be a one day deal, you should probably just wait till the last day.

Me too. My friend bought it 2 days ago for 15 bucks and I made fun of him yesterday for it being on sale. Now the joke is on both of us lol.

only buy daily deals until end of sale!!!!!

Heh. You were warned to hold off on the other deals till the last day. :p

Just like to remind all that waiting can mean Steam runs out of keys.

During the holiday sale, they ran out of keys for at least Prey/Mirror's Edge/Mass Effect.

It certainly can happen!

But they let you still buy them with the note that when they got more keys they would distribute them out. It's not like they lose keys and pull the item from the store (thereby you lose out on the sale).

I bought Mass Effect during a key shortage, the page said there was a key shortage and it would activate on it's own when they got more....but I checked out, DL and installed immediately and haven't had any issues, so either they had more keys and hadn't changed the page (removing the verbage about not having keys), or they got them real quick.

damn, can I log into my steam account from work through the website? I'm confused by this extra 'steam support' account that it says is separate from the one I use to buy stuff. I also can't remember which password I used, will it lock me out after so many tries? I do have the acct name though. do i just install steam on the work computer temporarily? I want Trine!!

You get two tries before it asks you to type in a security word proving you aren't a bot.

You get five tries before it locks you out for 15 minutes.

Hmm, didn't know that.
Prey's pretty old though, most of the games I'm waiting out on til the final day are relatively new games.

The more I read about it, the more I'm getting interested in Lead and Gold. Looks pretty fun - top review on Metacritic says it's "TF2 in the wild west...with cowboys", sounds like a decent game to me. ;)

Truer on newer games, I'd hope.

A good example of a game or package not to wait on is CoD. I wouldn't consider it impossible for them to run out of keys for the first three games (excludes MW/WaW) and have that be it. MW/WaW only for $30 isn't quite as attractive. If you have none of 'em, $30's probably as good as it's going to get. Don't hold out 10 more days.

Serious Sam DOUBLE PACK hell yes anyone who remember this thing can't possibly deny its appeal.

I'm a huge fan and supporter of Telltale Games, if you haven't played Sam & Max yet, here's a great way to get in on them. The Strongbad game is a laugh riot if you're a Homestar fan (and you should be! )

After getting burned on Lead and Gold I'm gonna wait out the Telltale and Sherlock holmes collections until the last day.
