PS3 Assault Rifle Controler

That would depend on how it works. Is this technically a motion controller? If it works and there are games that support it, I wouldn't mind one. :)

Yeah, if it works and accurately, then it'll be much better than aiming with the controller.

Ya i am not sure if this is going to work with the new ps3 motion control system, or if its just another standard controler in the shape of a gun.

looking at those pictures, i do see an analog stick on the gun handle, which to me seems like an awkward place to put it.

In my experience, gun shaped controllers have never been any good.
I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I don't think it would work. Assuming you have to use the analog to move, while aiming with the gun.

Yes the nintendo light gun was great...

However it was not really a full controller as you could not move your player, all it was useful for was to point and shoot at targets, and for that kind of activity it did quite well.

What i am referring to is a full controller that has everything a standard controller has, but in the shape of a gun.

Problem with such gun shaped controller's is that you end up having to use your whole arm to move the gun to point at targets, while at the same time you need to use your thumb to move your player. The combination of these two activities always makes for an awkward control system, due to the overlap of muscular control in arms and fingers.

For example try swinging your right arm up down left and right, while at the same time moving your thumb in similar or opposite directions, you will find that this is not naturally as easy as having two separate analog controller's under your two thumbs.

This is why most point and shoot light gun controller games don't usually have player movement, and in my opinion one reason why they get really repetitive and boring.

Walking/running movements being done from the rifle controller will be what kills this. The actual shooting part should be awesome. Otherwise, no.

I used one of these at E3 and it FUCKING SUCKS.

DO NOT BUY THIS.

There is an analog stick in two places on the gun, you have to still use them to move X,Y axis's. Its totally pointless to use the gun. There is absolutely ZERO aiming with the gun. Its basically a controller in the shape of a gun.

Thats it.

Yeah, that's pretty dumb. I'd imagine a controller like this when motion controls mature, but a completely analog controller in the shape of a gun is just awkward.

The only reason I'd want a controller like this is if it was motion-sensitive for on-the-rail games where I only had to worry about shooting. For just a gun-shaped controller, no thanks. This would make it harder to play a shooter than a controller.
