Bad Company 2

I checked yesterday my CPU utilization and it was maxed out now. I run a Core 2 Duo (E6600) @ 3.2 and the spread was 85% CPU and 15% on audiodg.exe

I found a possible way to reduce the audio.exe usage so I'll try it tonight. Guys please check your CPU utilization chances are that now it runs maxed out. I am having huge fps drops because of it and therefore lag specially upon spawning.

I tried turning up the quality settings on the game to everything on high except shadows and undergrowth. 4AA + 16AF and it still wouldn't off load the CPU. I have all my video card settings to high performance. I'll turn those up too tonight to see if I can get the game to offload from the CPU. Before I was not running maxed out. When I spawn it gets worse and that's still without any anti-virus.

Having the exact same issue. Framerate has tanked and gameplay feels jerky since patch. I went ahead and checked the CPU usage, sure enough i'm around 98-99% .

I know i'm still on a dual core, but my performance before this patch was more than acceptable. Now, not so much. :(

you need to select one of the enhanced weapon upgrades. you can test this on an empty rush map.

On all loadouts, select the last vehicle upgrade (Alt weapon which looks like 5 bullets stacked up) and you should have it all the time. It's something you have to do with every kit though. I made that one a default on all my kits.

Thanks guys. I don't think I've ever selected this option before. What does it give you for tanks/cars/choppers/boats?

I'd like to apologize in advance for this brief rant...

This patch is just a big WTF was DICE thinking. There were only a few weapons that needed tweaking, not the whole damn lot of them. Especially the final unlocks. Why on earth would you nerf the shit out of them just before you plan on releasing a paid for DLC to give those guns camo? Is it just to highlight those people using it as doubly stupid for spending money on cosmetic item for a gun that is worse? Furthermore what is the point of leveling most of these classes past halfway when the weapons aren't any better?

I am a little sore since nerfing my M16 has made me have to get used to other guns again. They also have essentially killed off the Recon class as long range class, I am more effective with an automatic rifle with a reflex sight than the bolt actions.

I've been having zero framerate issues, zero ping issues, zero lag issues even on respawns. Running win 7 64bit, Q9550, HD5850, 4gb ram. Other than the weapon nerfs, the patch has not caused me any trouble. Pings on the servers I usually use are 16-35 in the server browser.

After the patch with ATI Radeon 10.3 driver (long loading time ~40-50 seconds still here) I had a slight delay when respawning after the death.

Today I instaleld 10.4 beta driver to fix my map loading times. Indeed it is ~15 seconds now. But after loading in 15 seconds I get unplayable game for next 30 seconds. Everything lags like hell. so, I need to wayt another 30 seconds till lag dissapeared.

It sounds like game is still loading some content in 10.4 beta and in 10.3 it had just enought time to load everything within 50 seconds.

Any tips on Squad death match - how to make your squad win?

Maps are quite big and there are only 16 people playing. So, this mode changes to seek and destroy game where seek takes 90% of time. It can be quite boring.

Today we were playing 14 people:
Squad 1: 2 persons = me(sniper) + other guy (medic)
Squad 2: 4 ppl
Squad 3: 4 ppl
Squad 4: 4 ppl

Guess what? Whe won with 2 man squad against 3x4 mans squads. I was throwing motion mines, spotting and camping on the tops of the buildings. Medic was runing around the building and killing spotted enemies. That was quite effective.

Any other tips to win this mode?

A good team layout is 1 Assault, 1 Recon, 1 Medic, 1 Engineer :)

Try to roll in groups, an Assault should be nearby resupplying and keeping people off the backs of engineers trying to take out tanks, and snipers trying to melt face. Medics make great shock troops if they swarm around the group, keeping people healed up, m60 still has incredible stopping power. As a group, never park in one spot for long, unless the match seems to have consistant choke points. EVERYONE should be spotting. If your teammates are crouched and hiding, DON'T jump around like an asshat, giving away positions. Ideally, the whole squad will be watching each other's backs. As a recon, watch for AN-94 folks, switch up your sniping point if you're starting to take fire.

Squads lose when they don't play together and when they have 4 of a single class (played last night against a team that had 4 snipers, wtf)

well, you can start by not being a sniper. it's deathmatch after all. run and gun with assault.

says you, i find sniper with a 870 combat shotty, slugs and magnum ammo to be very effective. The shotty is 1 hit kill in normal servers and you get the motion mine to help hunt guys down. or a quick firing sniper rifle and a 4x scope or even red dot makes a good medium range assault gun.

my best sqdm game was myself against 3 squads. Not sure what was up that game but I got 40 kills total. Someone came in late and added another 10 kills for the win. my computer crashed after that so no screenshot. :( I'm not such a great team player so SQDM works for me.

Really though I don't worry about winning much. If I have a good k/d ratio with 15+ kills I figure it is a good game.

The new tracer dart is ridiculous... it's a fast as a bullet now...

I was on Arica Harbor half-way to their base from the start, I shot and planted on an enemy tank hiding next to Alpha on the main road... it took .2 seconds to get over there, normally it would be shoot, wait 2-3 seconds for it to travel over there and if he didn't move you got a tracer planted. This time it was near instanteous. I also planted on Blackhawks and other vehicles without much effort.

Now I see that as overpowered, because anyone smart is going to be killing tons of vehicles left and right. The old tracer was good for tanks, and if you were skilled could hit a blackhawk, either way you can still shoot blackhawks down if you knew how to lead / predict a pilots movement.

I think the tracer change is because people just weren't really using it all that much. Once people figure out how good it is and start abusing it they'll bring it back down.

I've never tried SQDM but it sounds pretty fun.

So what's the deal with the tracer? Once you stick one on a vehicle all RPG's will follow it? Or do you target it somehow? I play a lot of medic, not much engineer

recon w/870 combat shotty != sniper

I think they tripled the speed of it. Maybe they should have simply doubled it.

But I'm not complaining since I never fly. :)

once you stick a tracer you then have to aim the RPG at the tracer then fire it. it will follow and hit the tracer unless the operator is able to move under cover before impact.

frankly lots of teams would rape the other if they had a skilled heli pilot. I don't think the game should be about who has the best pilot. SQDM doesn't matter as much, you mostly ignore the tank and look for whoever is shooting at it. :D

I don't think the current tracer dart is overpowered. Between planting the dart and aiming at a helicopter it is still a few seconds. It used to be that even mediocre pilots on a chopper could completely alter the course of a game. The guy would be hovering, flying low right over enemies, moving slowly and it was a pain to hit him.

Now pilots have to be smarter, fly higher/faster/further away from the base, and the smart ones will fly away and low as soon as he gets the missile lock warming. Which is the way it should be.

I still see good pilots dominating. Yesterday I played with a guy on valparaiso who didn't get shot down once the entire map (and we made it all the way to the last base). But he was good and smart. He either flew high, or very low and away from the enemy base, and always fast. When pilots do that, landing a tracer on is still as difficult as it was.

Well, after playing around a bit, it seems the M60 (at least with the magnum ammo) is still decently powerful and probably the best LMG. If anything, the accuracy seems to have improved. I don' typically 'run and gun' with LMGs, so the decreased accuracy there doesn't really affect me. However, the increased accuracy at range when still is very helpful.

The AN-94 is also still great to use, but I don't have any idea why they nerfed the M16... did anyone ever think that was overpowered? As far as the sniper rifles, I can't comment too much on them since I don't really play recon, but they still seemed pretty effective for the other people I played with.

Overall, I think the patch is fantastic. Server browser and 'Play Now' work so much better than before and, at least for me, the patch seems to have decreased lag (I actually got a ping below 100 last night... something I've never seen before). I think some more balance tweaks are still needed (a knife from behind doesn't kill, but I can run at someone shooting at me and knife them from the front and instantly kill them?!), but think that Dice has done a great job with this first major patch.

Whats the etiquette on taking a back seat in apaches? I'm not the greatest pilot so sometimes if the game is close I'll hop in one and hit F2. People will run up, stand by it, and run off. Last night a guy finally hops in but says "Oh you're going to pull that shit?".

Yup, you won't see me complaining about m60's nerf.

However, with over 1,100 kills on it I think it's time to move on to another gun (so I can get award points).

"always fast." Fine, but I find the blackhawk miniguns difficult to get kills with even at medium speeds, so if the chopper is always zooming by on strafing runs, it makes it even harder to get kills. Too hard, in my opinion.

nothing wrong with that, IMO. the pilot is gonna need a gunner.

i don't particularly notice the M16 nerf. it was underpowered before and it's still underpowered so it feels the same to me. maybe it's because i took 2 weeks off from playing and just got back into it, i dunno. i still love the M16.

Check your pings once you are in-game. My post was made in relation to servers pinging 15 in the browser, and once you get into the game the ping is 150-500 for EVERYONE.

Check the pings you are getting in real-time while playing by checking the scoreboard (TAB).

i consider myself to be a decent pilot, much better than most people. i'd rather someone get in the gunner seat. a lot of people just want to fly to a certain spot and jump out, or they take off and crash immediately. on a rush map, the apache is key component to victory if it's used properly.

Long story short, I sold my GFX card, and bought a PS3 for a few games (GOW3 and uncharted 2) decided to picked this up and wow..

I HATE this game on PS3... so aggravating, I cant use any other class then recon. I suck with anything up close, Give me the m24 and i will snipe all day long ..

Looks like poop, handles like poop.. only good thing about it is the vehicle controls are a little easier. Anyone wanna buy a PS3? : ) (and yes I know that a PC will always be better, but IMHO the 360 version just feels better, than the PS3 version..)

I may just force myself to play and get better.. but damn.. I miss my GFX card.. lol

Well that was a bad idea now wasn't it :p For multiplatform games, I'd only ever buy them on PC (unless they have some game killing bug or something). Especially an FPS.

Will do that tonight when I get home. A couple hours of playing last night, I didn't notice lag, but also wasn't checking ping

My thoughs exactly, only good pilots should survive longer than 2 mins.

Btw to my eyes type 88 is the new king of LMGs, since i rarely move and shoot at the same time LMGs are still deadly in my hands, too bad that i have to ditch CG for RPG7

I agree. Now you can't be an idiot with the Heli. I saw some guy in Isla hover his heli a short distance outside the island. As soon as he stopped 6 tracer darts flew and hit him, followed shortly thereafter by 6 rockets smashing into him. Funniest damn thing I had seen

I discovered to my chagrin that you can't sit in a vehicle and repair it. That sucks, although it's understandable why they did that.

I was sitting in the cargo seat of a Hind and trying to use my drill but I ended up doing team damage.

Cool the patch remembers my kit selection. so i do not have to repick everything again.

I fucking hate the new patches changes to Assault, way to fuck up the AN-94.
I wish I could play without the new patch :(

You forgot to add "on HC servers"

On normal servers CG is a "door in the wall make - kill not" thingy.

I don't play HC.

MY KDR with engineer was 1.65 before the patch and it's a little higher now. So for the way I use Uncle Carl, it's just as good.
