New MW2 Map pack is out!

I don't think it's officially out for download yet.... I haven't seen it on my xbox at least

Is there any DLC on Steam for the new map pack or is that gonna be released at a later date?

i hear MW2 is broken or something because the update didnt work before the maps? IW forums are hammered.

Is it any good, I wanna know whether I should waste my money on it or spend my money on it.

Selling a map pack not even made up entirely of new maps for not much less than what an entire game was selling for during a recent sale = fail.

Same thing happened last year when they released the map pack and live wasn't able to handle the load.

Just bought it..if I have to pick the "new map pack only" option to be able to play them..I am going to be pissed.

Thanks for showing IW/Activision that they can walk all over us. 15 dollars for 5 maps, half of them already released on MW? Lol.

maybe it will go like Halo...for a little while you have to play a game type to get them..but they get added to the rotation eventually

Reports earlier in the month said most of the IW staff are only sticking around for their royalties from CODMW2 sales, so if that is true at all I wouldn't be surprised if IW just slapped this out with no care at all. It's yet another blow to the fans who keep giving this game chances, though.

This map pack is proof of how many suckers there are out there, no doubt. I agree with Plague Injected though, the employees and the co-founders of IW have yet to get any royalties for MW2 so they are waiting on that before they bolt, probably to form a new studio free of Flobby Kodick's fat face.

Blame Acti not IW. They decide the pricing afaik. If there is similar pricing on PC I will completely forget about that game and stay exclusive to BC2 where I don't have to pay for shit like that.

The new maps are pretty good, i have to say they have the best visuals of all. even the old maps are re-done, in all the building there is new painting and random shit all over the place.. im very happy with it.
didnt get long to play it, but all three new maps are solid.

To all that have to complain about paying for a map pack, should the devlopers and designers not get paid for their work? they did not have to release these, as well as you do not have to buy them. they are an addition to the game and IMO they should charge for it. If they didn't charge, what would be the point in releasing them? There is no contract in the game that states they have to release additional maps.

Anyone had their match search time go up like 500% since todays DLC/update? I'm on interleaved DSL so I ping about 90ms to the first hop. My ping is usually somewhere in the 130-200ms range, I'm assuming since I can't tell on my Xbox 360. I have to sit and wait as it uselessly searches for games under 100ms ping, one bracket at a time (50, 60, 70, etc). I'm guessing they changed it for Aussies/Europeans but I would get into games instantly before today and now I'm stuck waiting for 45 seconds before I even start to find suitable games.

To stay on topic, I think the new maps are fine. What isn't fine is how they currently have them in the playlists. A "Stimulus Deathmatch" and "Stimulus Objective" setup would have been better, but it's being changed to DLC in all playlists tomorrow so whatever.

To be honest, $15 isn't really that much. I know this is a mostly PC gaming forum and people are used to free DLC but get used to it, this IS the future of gaming in general. It's slightly more ironic to see it here on a forum about custom PC building, which isn't the least expensive of hobbies. $15 is chump change.

Besides, I can think of a lot of things that I can buy with $15 that won't last nearly as long or bring me near as much enjoyment as 5 maps on a FPS video game.

QFT, exactly. yea im not real happy about the palylist and only Double XP for the stimulus package but im sure they will incorporate them in the other playlsit soon. besides it give me an oportunity to learn the new maps.

So, how is the hackers situation, i still refuse to buy this game...

I suspect deweatherly will say he's never seen a hacker on MW2 in his life, even though there's plenty of evidence otherwise.

When I saw those videos on youtube of people blatantly walling and aimbot hacking, I decided not to purchase this game.

I still don't have it, I don't think i'll ever buy it, it has too many problems to be enjoyable.

You are aware there are developers out there that release content, especially maps, for free?

so what happens if you don't buy the map pack? will it divide the players or what?

since last months patch i havent seen any except for the gamertag hack (where people will have xbox buttons on thier name) but that doesnt affect gameplay, it actually help because you can see the enemy so much easier. but thats on the 360 i have no idea about PS3 or PC.

oh Fail, you continually come into MW2 telling us how much we suck and how MW2 is the worst game ever. You keep telling us about all the problems with MW2 yet you do not even own the game. i wonder why you even YouTube and read up on a game you blatantly hate? you have no idea about the hacking on the 360, I play every day and have logged about 5 days of game play, i think i have an idea of what’s going on in the game, on the other hand you do not even own the game, so how and why do you try to debate this?

The COD4 maps should be (at the very least) free to people who own COD4. They are charging for Overgrown twice (it was DLC for the consoles on COD4, I believe. PC got it for free). I haven't seen the CODMW2 versions myself, but I doubt it would have taken much more than minimal effort to port those maps over.

Have the two COD4 maps been changed or tweaked at all to warrant repurchase?

Regardless, it seems apparent that with the way the hacks/exploits still are, and now this flaccid content package, IW has just about given up on the game.

not sure on MW2 because they havent released them into the regular game modes (they are in thier own game mode called Stimulus package moshpit or something like that) but in MW1 they just moved players to a different lobby. i suspect the same thing will happen in MW2, although it probably will not work out so good with the new matchmaking system.

the 2 maps are a little different, they are more enhanced and have a bunch of random shit every where.as far as the hacks they also released a new patch at the same time as the map pack.

So what?

We are not entitled to free shit. If you don't then want it don't buy it. Those that want will buy it. Simple.

I grow tired of people complaining about having to pay for DLC. Whether or not the price for a piece of DLC is justified is another subject.

Tools should still be provided so the USER can generate free content. It's just a way for them to make more money off the suckers by preventing the modding community from doing anything.

Modding is the reason a lot of games are still alive.

I agree, I saw that shit coming a mile away with the whole IWnet debacle

it's amazing how some people can't see that and foolishly shell out money which in turn emboldens the company to push shit out like this map pack.

It's equalivent to paying them to kick you in the groin and thanking them afterwards.

Free tools would be nice. I'm over it though. I don't need free stuff to enjoy the game. I'm more than happy to pay for professionally made DLC that I find attractive.

Hopefully COD 7 from Treyarch will bring us back mod tools.

The thing is, they already created those tools internally while developing the game, it requires almost no effort to provide the level editor / tools to create and import maps into the game.

I don't mind paying for well-made DLC, but a couple of maps is not what I would call DLC...but that's my opinion.

Like Borderland's DLC... that's $10 a piece (I'll admit the 2nd one was kind of lame) but they pushed them out quickly, added a decent length to the game and added a lot of content. That is DLC worth paying for, but anything can be DLC now it's getting ridiculous...

It is so simple, if you think they are over priced.. don't buy the DLC. obviously there is enough people out there will to do it. so why not put make people pay for it, why not pay the developers what they are entitled too? PC players, soon enough everyone including your precious PC games will be charging for things like this. you guys should create a blog, and blog about it. this thread wasn't labeled "MW2 DLC price complaint thread". it is about the quality of the gameplay within the DLC. Furthermore, i do not care what they charge for further DLC, i will pay it. i do not care how you guys feel about it, as i have heard in other threads "people like you are the reason why the game industry is no charging for features like this." i will get more enjoyment out of a map pack for $15 than i would a dinner, 3 drinks at the bar, etc. personally i like IW and activision, they have provided me with some great games. I look forward to future title from them, you can hate them but they are killing everyone else when it comes to FPS in sales, so get use to seeing them as they will be around for a long time.

I wouldn't equate sales to = a good game, sorry

a shitty game is still shitty no matter how many copies it sells

In my opinion, probably. I didn't buy any mappacks for MW and my pals who had them noticed that when I was around we were waiting for, what they claimed, ten times as long to get into a match.
