Fermi retail date pushed back...

This is a several-times-over repost, but more importantly: it's one week. What's the big deal?

Same... though the rumors have solidified enough that my 5870 is already up on the 'Bay for sale :D. Good riddance, glitchy 5870 drivers!
 
Same here...like the idea.... this way you know what numbers are and be able to make a better decision before buying. Also it will give more time to the reviewers, no rush out the door.

Current rumors still place some as being available on the 26th, as well... so we shall see as they say.

Yes, we are tied to the Master and his whims... wait a second, no I wasn't... I was using a 5870 in the meantime and hating its driver glitches in virtually all the games I play + instability in my favorite MMO (Warhammer Online/WAR)! I didn't "wait" for anything, I've painfully used my 5870 since its launch and am happy to be ditching it ASAP to go back to an nVidia-based card. Hopefully the pricing info of $450-500 for the GTX 480 that is floating around now is accurate... it won't be that big a price difference from my 5870 selling at $380ish on the 'Bay if so, and the rumored performance at 2560x1600 vs. the 5870 + having PhysX back for Batman Arkham Asylum + Mirror's Edge will be nice :D. EyeFinity has been a non-factor for most people: heck, most people still game at 1680x1050/1280x1024 or below, let alone with three monitors. I'll take one 2560x1600 widescreen any day over 3x20" with bezels galore like I tried as a test setup a few ago. Even 3x24" would probably have too much bezel for my tastes, and too small a vertical screen area when run in landscape relative to my 3007WFP-HC.

Even if they push it back I wouldn't be surprised. I am very curious about the performance numbers of these Fermi cards.... I had originally intended to sell my 5870 and just pay the difference for the Nvidia card, unfortunately at the rumored price points and performance I am having trouble justifying the hassle I would need to go through.

Either way, I patiently await Fermi's performance numbers while enjoying DX11 for the few games that I own that have it. :)
 
I don't know how the retail date can be pushed back when they never announced one to begin with. They only announced it would be released on the 26th...

I usually want to read the reviews, then be able to buy a reviewed product, not wait for a week and think about them. Takes all kinds though... takes all kinds...
 
Ugh I'm so sick of hearing fermi this and fermi that. All these swirling rumors and useless bullshit. nVidia practically created the [H]ard|Launch with the 7 series and now this shit? What the hell. Seriously.

If they had announced a solid release date and then said, hey, we will let you see the reviews prior to the NDA fine but this is basically bending over and saying do with me as please nvidia, I am your bitch.

actually I've been checking newegg everyday for the last couple weeks. The 5970 has been out of stock for sometime and all the reasonably priced 5870s are gone. I just want Nvidia to hurry up and come out with the damn cards so I can either buy those or hopefully get whatever Ati releases to compete with it.

With all the hype, speculation, dates being pushed etc..there's no way I was going to buy a Fermi without reading reviews for a week first anyways. lol

*EDIT* Come to think of it, was there ever an actual Fermi release date to begin with?

As others said, I am fine with it being pushed back as long as the 26th is the day NDA gets lifted. I am very patient man and no games so far I have seen have made me think about upgrading yet, So why jump on things like a horny teenager and then have to live with the things you get.
