Bad Company 2

I'm very confident on flying the blackhawk heli with keyboard+mouse but I sometimes do not understand the gunners who ALWAYS overheat the guns before we get to the the field where they should be mowing down the enemies :( TIP: Burst firing = no overheating

Second complaint is that gunners only focus on one enemy than looking around/spotting enemies. But when I am the gunner, I always take out the ground MG operator right away

Third, gunner do not change positions when only 2 of us are flying and I have to change flight pattern so they can see the enemy TIP: press F2 and F3 to change

My favorite thing to do is dropping people on top the light house on the rush map Valparaiso :p

Friend request is borked, I requested for lots but no replies

Those riding along, whether in a tank or helo, should always be the ones looking around and spotting for the driver. I know when I'm in a tank I've got a lot more on my mind than trying to spot that Engineering looking out a window with his RPG. I need my gunner to start firing at them, talking to me over TS, or something to get my attention that "hey retard, there's a nut in that building with a bazooka looking to take us out!". That way I can turn the cannon on the building and take care of him and any of his buddies in there with him before they've almost destroyed me before I realize where it is all coming from.

Well then... that's one way to deal with it...

I wouldn't recommend it!

Over reacting are we, well I suppose I would be pissed too.

Yes, I'm not proud of it, I'm normally as calm as can be. In a very English type way.

So you must have used the no-cd online authentication option.... :D

;) I could still play but my son corrupted the OS but pressing the on off button on my PC repeatedly. Probably for the best anyway

The rage is strong in this one. Atleast sell it or give it away :p

I didn't consider it under the circumstances. That and the serial is tied to my account.

Dude ... I mean, I've broken the space bar of a keyboard because of how frustrated I was with Windows Vista, but destroying the game itself? Yikes..

Heh, I remember the thread on the Hardforum regarding stories of rage. Some of the tales on there were priceless

Talk about rage quit.

There were easier ways of dealing with that, like drink a beer, smoke, sex with gf, etc.

Part of me is sad to see another player go, but a small part of me is glad because its one less whiner I have to listen to.

Hope you can get that rage under control and rejoin us on the battlefield.

I had a bottle of red wine (that could be part the reason I broke it) No sex with the wife she's pregnant and rather hormonal and moody. Gave up smoking and glad I did.

lol wow talk about a hissy fit. PM me your BC2 account info so I can give it to a friend rofl.

Glad I amused you. Hissy fit, sure. The account details are /snip

Haa. Oh man, that's a tantrum right there.

Shame, there's usually a way of getting it to work. I couldn't connect to the EA servers all day when I tried to connect to any server through the browser, but by disabling all my filters I could connect to any server in my history. Had a grand old time.

The game has serious problems with my ISP and make of router. Google SPI firewalls, TCP Timeout etc. This has been ongoing with the netcode since BF2. I gave up on it, and being techincally savvy I really don't like admitting it.

In all my years of PC Gaming, I have never seen a picture of a broken DVD and pieces of paper.

Shame, as I do enjoy Bad Company 2, Mass Effect 2 and DAO.

Sorry about that, I hope you don't get nightmares from the picture :)

We played a good 8+ hours today, good fun. There was a guy bitching on the other team, saying our team was hacking, I bet it was the guy who broke his CD

Wasn't me I swear!

Maaaan, 40mm grenade whores makes this game feel like Quake. That said, I still can't stop playing. Maybe I should break my disc too. :D

Lol. Don't do it!

dude get a fucken life! first of all Ea sent out a msg stating they were doing server maintence

this weekend. Holy shit give them a chance to fix the problems and lets see what happens.

You guys are just a bunch sissy lil girls bitching and whinning

Huh, not sure why you're having a go at Everett1, I think this must be aimed at me.

I'm fully aware of the maintenance ongoing. My issues are not related.

In any case your post is barely legible, so move on.

Oh! I totally forgot to mention the part that I found most amusing from the single player campaign. Minor SPOILERS below.

In Bolivia I was patrolling through the jungle with my fire team (maybe it was Chile?). Anyway, I thought to myself, this feels like a scene from Predator. Not 5 minutes later, just before we assaulted a hostile compound across a bridge, Sweetwater and Haggard begin talking about Predator, and their favorite scenes. Not only was it topical, it was hilarious! Sadly, it made me miss the more prevalent humor of the first game:( But yeah, I guess the developers thought the same thing I did. The two of them were talking so loud though, I thought they'd give away our position; thank goodness for AI triggers!

How fucking hard is it for the game to say, "oh, hey, there's a 32 player max...so there shouldn't be more than 16 people on one team." Seriously. I'm sick of fucking joining games where one side has a 3-4 player advantage over the other. The auto-balancing feature doesn't even TRY to work.

Those servers don't have autobalance enabled.

Put me down as one of those players who just cant seem to figure out how to control the choppers on the PC version of BFBC2.

On the PS3 version it is so easy to fly the choppers, and fun to do so, however for some reason i find the PC version highly unresponsive with keyb/mouse , and getting the choppers to fly around in a circle is quite a chore.

I do have a saitek x52 just lying here, maybe ill try that out (using drivers on ea forums) and see if that helps.
Although i would prefer for keyboard/mouse to just work right so i would not have to switch to joystick when entering choppers.

I have no issues flying UAV, i did find it strange that UAV and chopper controls had different settings.
You thing they would be the same, maybe thats part of my problem.

Choppers are pretty easy with the keyboard and mouse, you just have to remember a few things. You accelerate directly upwards/downwards with the W/S keys to actually move forward you need to tilt the helicopter forwards, tip it too far and you'll start losing height. They respond to constant input so you need to keep moving your mouse steadily in one direction to keep turning/tilting in that direction, you run out of mousemat quickly so lift and start again in a fast motion. You DON'T offset the angle by a set amount by the mouse and let it keep turning you have to keep moving it

It would be better with a joystick where a constant input in any direction is possible. But totally flyable with the mouse and keyboard. Just keep in mind the gunner positions and angles to give your gunners maximum reach, dont fly too low or slowly over enemies because people are getting surprisingly good with the tracker dart shots and dumbfire missile shots.

I really don't see wha the big deal is with the M60. It's great up close if you just fire from the hip, but aimed fire at anything from medium to long range is pretty much the same as anything else. And it feels disgraceful to kill people running around firing from the hip.

Much prefer the MG36. The built-in red dot means you have an extra slot free to be a useful team-mate with a medkit upgrade, whereas using the M60 with red dot and magnum ammo isn't really contributing much. The MG36 seems more controllable and puts people down just as fast due to the greater rate of fire.

This man speaks the truth. The MG36 is the better gun stock. The M60 you really have to give up 2 perks. Yes the M60 mows people down left and right, but I get more points at the end of the round, just laying a health pack on the ground. DON'T nerf the gun! I like all my Ace pins.

MY biggest beef is the damn 40mm grenades being launched every .5 seconds. I decided to play the class a bit, and play hide and seek with the launcher. Went 44 and 8 one round, and 35 and 10 another. Without even firing a damn bullet probably. Now I must admit, it was fun as hell, but come on, it's on the cheaper side of kills.

But it's funny. Meds have the M60. Engys the Gustave. Soilder the 40mm launcher. What are snipers OP'ed perk or gun?

You're not the only one who can't fly a heli with the KB/Mouse. I think I have more team kills than air time with a helicopter.

On another note, do you guys play and enjoy conquest? Conquest mode seems to be lacking severely compared to previous BF titles. Rush mode is insane and provides a lot more excitement.

True,. I even search only for RUSH games since Conquest doesn't feel good on such small maps.

This is because the flags mean little with the addition of the squad spawn other than a ticket countdown. Plus there are very few choke points, forcing the fighting like in BF2142.

Something amazing happened to while playing BC2. I was in a squad with a medic an engineer, assault and recon classes. I didn't think such things existed. You know what else happened, actual teamwork spontaneously broke out!! The Recon class served as a kind of mobile spawn point staying close enough to the fray to spot targets and take out targets of opportunity but not too close where they would be spotted. He also watched our back as we stormed m-com stations! The medic healed, revived, and laid down a blanket of lead. The assault class resupplied everyone with ammo used the 40mml grenade launcher to take out well everything! Me playing engineer I repaired vehicles took out large target (gun emplacements helo's etc) with my friend Gustav. We moved m-com to m-com using this strategy and beating teams of filled with players better (statically) than us individually. And you know what else happened we noticed the rest of our team started to do the same!! It was a BC2 miracle!!!

What team was this and whats your handle? Every squd I've been on seems the only reason why they're in there is for spawn points.

Yeeeah riiight. And you walked the Jews across the bridge in Arica Harbor without firing a single shot.

I know there are hackers out there. I was playing assault, equipped the shotgun version of the grenade launcher. I got behind a guy and gave him a blast to the back. Should be a 1 shot kill. He turns around and kills me in about a millisecond. The kill cam showed he still had 100% health. Just in case, stalked the same guy, gave him a blast in the chest and got the exact same result. Ass-monkey's like this absolutely ruin games.

I was waiting for the line.......this is how I became the FRESH PRINCE of BelAir :D

I need to vent. Players shouldn't be able to spawn by squadmates who are in combat. For instance, I'm at the laguna map, well concealed and spot a guy crossing the shallows with absolutely no cover. So I use the element of surprise, set my sight on him, and just as I squeeze the trigger, suddenly 2 then 3 of his buddies pop up out of thin air. What was once a 1 v 1 and an easy kill for me turned into 4 v 1.

That said, I'll take the good with the bad. The dozens of C4 ambushes I've set up are just so much fun.

I disagree; it's very nice to get back in the action, right next my Squad;

I don't have time (nor desire) to run back into the center of the action just because I'm placed/spawned arbitrarily on the edge of the map, w/ no one around.

.

such miracles are slowly becoming more common as people figure out that a 1 man army is useless in this game. fortunately, players are slowly heading back to the games they left in order to play this, too.

I found myself in a squad death match the other day with a similiar formula and its amazing how much more fun things get. They were even so crazy as to switch to 3 engineers and 1 medic when our team controlled the tank...and then back to 2 assault and 2 medic or 1/1/1/1 or 1/1/2(medic) distributions of squad members. An odd coincidence occurred when we won most matches with the 50 kills while the other teams were stuck at 20-30 each...

love it!!!

"In combat," dude. I love the fact that I can spawn where my squad is, but it would be nice if one cannot do that if the squad member [that one chooses to spawn near] is currently firing or taking fire (i.e. in combat).

One problem I've seen with the current spawning system is at Atacama desert. If you're on the team that is unlucky enough to spawn after the other team's already got a bird in the air, you're fucked. Within the first few minutes (1) your chopper's likely already blown to hell and (2) some asshat parachuted from the chopper near your HQ. Next thing you know you have an infestation.

had a similar experience last night, except i was a medic in a squad with 2 other medics and 1 assault on the attacking team in Arica Harbor. we were leap-frogging, laying a base of fire when necessary, and reviving/supplying ammo like crazy. worked our way through every m-com. sooo satisfying to play this way. i ended the round with something like 48-8 KDR.

also in another round i set a new personal record for marksmanship headshot bonus - 263pts :D love this damn game.

Those servers don't have autobalance enabled.

DICE's current implementation of autobalance is just poor

a player will only be autobalanced if they are in a squad by themselves. I'm really hoping DICE just forgot to add in a patch note about autobalancing, creating a max player limit per team, and placing better restrictions on when team switching is allowed.

Yep this issue is a major crux of online play right now. Sometimes I have to join 3-4 servers in a row to find one in which the team is balanced correctly. What's even more amazing is, if you're fed up and decide to stay in one that's unbalanced, it often stays severely unbalanced for multiple maps. If the current patch doesn't include fixes to this problem they need to take care of it ASAP.

Woohoo! Now I can play whatever class I want.

Had that happen to me while I was going to knife the sucker. Classic response: I kill the original guy with the knife and get cut down in .2 secs and their medic brings him back to life.

Of course it's also resulted in extra kills, too. Couple times guy pops out right in the line of fire and I mow em all down. Also had a triple knife kill because the guy's who just spawned were disoriented or couldn't tell I was an enemy. :D

I like being able to spawn close to the action though. If the squad I'm on all gets whacked, I'll switch until I find one that has someone where I need to be.

Some of my best times is when me and my squad would be in a tank and there were two engineers (I'm one of them, I always play engy) and a medic. When the tank starts taking dmg both the engy's would jump out and the medic would as well to cover/heal us till we jumped back in all the while the driver is blasting away. Makes you feel good when people work together.

Anyone know what the skill level in BC2 is? I guess the higher the better, but what do they take into account?

Where so you see your skill level at? The only place I've seen it is on the leader boards and they all show up as 0 for me.

When you compare yourself with someone on your friends list it shows your skill level.

Friends list -> pick friend -> compare.

I wasn't a good pilot in BF2, but at least I was able to fly the helicopter without crashing. I can't even take off in Bad Company 2. I prefer being a gunner anyway.

Leveling question, if I use a gun designated in the "All kits" section does that contribute to leveling stats for the specific class I am playing as. Like if I am using the M870 while playing as assault class, will kills whilst using that gun giving me assault points?

Yes it does, i leveled most of the engineer with the M14. but its best to get that classes guns used so you can get the gold stars with each, makes you level loads faster. most people forget about those but it realllllyyyyy does help getting those 5000 and 10000 pins

Agreed, but it is like throwing rocks with some of the weapons. I feel bad if I don't grind out a star for atleast each weapon as they unlock.
