Some were waiting with bated breath for the new Windows Mobile for such features, Novell has different ideas.

On Monday, Novell will demonstrate new technology that will allow Microsoft Xbox 360 games to be translated into iPhone apps. It also has the capability to be used to create Android games, potentially taking some Xbox games to the mobile masses.

While this sounds like an interesting idea, we will have to wait to see how this translates to a mobile platform..

This in any shape or form like the remote to apps that let you play high scale games on your mobile devices?

I'm assuming this is going to be like OnLive?

I doubt the iPhone has the processing power to match a three-core 3.2ghz processor. I understand it doesn't have to generate the same number of pixels, but there's a lot more to games like Battlefield Bad Company 2 than pixels.

This isn't a video streaming from the xbox type of service.

This isn't actually "XBox 360 games". This is XNA and simple .NET programs just being translated to a compatible platform sitting on the iPhone. This type of thing wont just take your existing shelf of 360 discs and run them. It will allow you to write lightweight apps that could run on an xbox 360 and also run them on an iPhone. Anything running on this wont compare in processing ability to an actual 360 game written with the full professional dev kit.

Very misleading idea. Like duoDreamer says, this isn't for xbox games, just writing programs that can run on both systems. The iPhone has no where near the processing power to play a real, modern game.

I'm sure there's some sort of Microsoft licensing involved otherwise Novell's in for a bit of attorney nastiness.

Why does HardOCP have so much Apple news on the front page all the time? I realise most of it isn't positive, but it's getting tedious.

What, having half the screen filled with a picture of an iPhone doesn't make it mostly an Apple article?

Why not show a picture of some other device then? It would contrast nicely with the iPad picture only a couple of articles down.

will I have to install the RROD app for this to work properly? And if so will apple send me a card board coffin, or do I just go to AT&T directly ?

Doesn't Microsoft own Novell?

Uh... no.

The reason why Novell is not necessarily in for nastiness is because of this:

From Wikipedia:
On July 6, 2009, Microsoft announced that it was placing their ECMA 334 and ECMA 335 specifications under their Community Promise pledging that they would not assert their patents against anyone implementing, distributing, or using alternative implementations of .NET[23] which have dispelled the patent concerns over the ECMA portions of Mono.

Now, of course, there are people that say that won't last forever, but that's why Mono has been able to be around for so long.

All they've really done is make sure that XNA runs with Mono. That's it. With MonoTouch already around, they even have the iPhone part already taken care of.

Is it cool? Yes. But it's for indie games, not Halo.

Aww, I came here wanting Armored Core 4 on my android device, only to find otherwise :( (but I really knew it wasn't all that anyways)
