Bad Company 2

Trying to decide between steam and getting the dvd version. Does anyone know if the dvd version requires you to keep a disk in the drive when you launch/play the game? I dont like that steam puts all the games on the same hard drive as the steam app, but I think I'll hate having to keep a dvd around to pop it in everytime i want to play more.

Those screens look great. Everyone seems to be happy with both SP and MP. I don't think I can go wrong with this thing. :)

You have the option at installation of using the DVD media or internet for DRM. Since I'm only planning to play MP online, I chose that. I think you can have up to 5 or 10 concurrent installs in that mode; so you need to uninstall the game before you reformat, etc.
 
you all have convinced me, i'm picking this up tonight, if BB or gamestop has it
 
I keep getting kicked from multiplayer games in Bad Company 2 and Supreme Commander 2 is fucked up with steam.

Now I know why everybody plays WoW - its the only game that ever works normally.

My understanding is yes, the graphics options amoung other things. That's why I bought it, wanted to support a developer doing games right!
 
Is there a code or something to get my limited edition unlocks with Steam? I'm not seeing anything and I don't have any unlocks
 
You have to redeem the code in game. Through the multiplayer tab. Then while in game, you go shift tab and look for your cd key.

@v6maro - A LOT of improvements. The game runs a lot better, the game is faster paced (You run faster.. I think?) Weapon switching seems pretty fast. Just everything in general seems better in the retail game. AWESOME. The summer type maps are gorgeous.

thanks i am downloading now, cant wait.

When I played the beta there were performance issues it seemed and laggy, I hope a lot of that is fixed, plus, im so sick of snow lol
 
yeah, how do I get the unlocks if I pre-ordered, are they automatically there??
 
I cant even pull up the multiplayer server list, says it's down......
 
sorry if this has been asked before but can you 'hold to aim' instead of the current toggle aim?

In addition that has been mentioned, the PC version offers 32 player MP games and the consoles are 24.

PC all the way for FPS.
 
God I really want hold to aim and toggle to crouch.

Basically the reverse of how they have it right now. Holding to crouch gets annoying fast.
 
Ya looks like the EA master server is down. Not a suprise really. In fact I was shocked when I first fired it up tonight that i was able to instantly log in and play. I just assumed it would be like all the other battlefield games were during the first week, flaky at best. So I guess going down once isn't so bad.

Game overall feels awesome. I see the improvements over the beta and all I can is very nice. it runs better and feels smoother and looks a little nicer. I wish the textures were a little better but thats a minor annoyance. Game is pure win imo. I've been having a blast all night. :)
 
So how do you get the limited edition items? I entered the promo code and cd key but they still don't show up. Also, for the steam version of the game, how do you get it to update?
 
^^ I had that problem. Just play a few games and they should appear in the choose weapon layout in the respawn menu.
 
I dunno, the game feels really disconnected. BF2 and 1942 were so much more mechanical, this one is so fluid that it feels sluggish. I don't mean the gfx.
 
Is it me or is everyone getting a " cannot connect to EA servers" when hitting the refresh list option?

It seems like I cant connect to any servers now. Im so close to ranking up to!
 
Can anybody else connect to servers?? Keep getting check internet connection?

oh well back to single player for a bit...this is why not having a server exe is lame

It is more defined shaddows and really taxing on the system. Turn HBAO off and see if it feels better. If it doesn't, just turn it back on. With my system, it feels weird with HBAO on and doesnt quite perform right at my settings.
