I remember back in the day Samsung was producing vertical rotatable monitors which were awesome for reading long text. Are there any vertical rotatable monitors on the market these days at sub $300 prices>

Dell is usually the standard for that stuff, but unfortunately out of your price range. All their sub-$300 monitors only have tilt.

Just go to newegg and search for anything with swivel. Alternately you could get a regular monitor and get one of those arm thingies.

The Dell 2209WA pivots. As such, it is the only monitor under $300 I would consider for vertical work, and it will do that very well. The stand is very high quality for such a cheap monitor, too.

Do NOT buy a TN panel for vertical work. The limited viewing angles of TN panels make them absolutely useless for that. Almost all monitors under $300 are TN panels, so assume they are unless proven otherwise. The few that aren't TN panels or the Dell 2209WA are cheap VA panels which are quite inferior to the 2209WA.

You're really looking for a good stand, then. If your monitor is VESA mount 100mmx100mm compatible, you may be able to buy a Dell UltraSharp monitor stand on Fleabay for your monitor, though I'm unsure as to the actual hooks-and-hole mounting for these stands and whether or not if that's a VESA standard or if it's just another proprietary Dell design.

where can i find that dell in canada? they usually don't deal in anything but dogshit desktops here.

You'll probably have to wait. I am Canadian and have a 2209WA, so we do get them, but they were out-of-stock for a while, and it might take some time.

You are typically not going to find it for under $300 up here, but it's still worth it.

I use TN for vertical panels and they work well for text work.
