Hey ya'll.

I have about $450 to spend on mointors.

I was thinking of getting
(2) Dell 2209's, or (2) P2310H,
or a 24" of your choice ([2] 24" would be IDEAL)

No comparison. 2 x 2209WA no doubt. Unless physical monitor size appeals to you...

2209wa is probably the best bang for your buck monitor you can currently buy, and arguably one of the best gaming monitors out there. There is no comparison in the $200 per monitor price range imo.

Only reason I wanted to setup up to a 23-24" was to get a very nice resolution of 1920x1080.

But in return you get a crappy dime-a-dozen TN panel. Like I said, if a greater resolution and larger physical size is worth it for a degradation in picture quality, it's your choice.

I see your point. The trade off is IQ instead of physical space.

I guess i'll pick up a set of 2209WA's, unless a really good deal on a 1920x1200 comes out.

I'm looking to buy 2 monitors, mainly for programming and web-design, web-browsing. Photo/video editing I don't do as often.

I wanted monitors with solid stands, and the short list included (along with price for two)
Samsung F2380 $775 retail
Dell 2310H $594 I might be able to pickup 2 for $550
Dell 2209WA $867 I might be able to pickup 2 for $680

As you know, the first two are 16:9, the last is 16:10. The first one ic cPVA, the second a TN, and the last an IPS. Keeping my usage in mind, which would you recommend?

I like 16:10, I'm used to it, but the first two have resolutions of 1920*1080, versus the third being 1680*1050.
Since I am using these for coding, screen real-estate is pretty important (yes I have two screens, but IDEs have various panes).
The following two pictures illustrate how resolution plays its part when it comes to resolution.

23" 16:9 (F2380) http://www.it.com.cn/diy/bigimg/2009/06/14/06/539511_30.html
22" 16:10 (2209WA) http://www.it.com.cn/diy/bigimg/2009/06/14/06/539511_31.html

From the above link, there are plenty of pictures that compare the Samsung with the 2209WA--I like the 2209. Question is, do you expect the P2310H to look worse than the F2380?

I think my question boild down to, should I spring for the 2209WA even though my main usage being textual content, or is the P2310H a good screen (I have my doubts about it because the $594 price is the sale price, but Dell had it on for lower earlier--$434 for two, maybe by accident)?

My budget target was $500 CAD. I understand you might might be having a chuckle, but please advise accordingly.

Thanks for reading this long post. And thank you very much for your help!!!
