Won a PSU, should I switch mine out?

So I won a Power Supply recently, and this put me in a good dilemma.

I have an Antec 1200, 2x 4890 Crossfire, OC'ed 920, etc...the system isn't the crucial part of this post.

I already had a Corsair TX850W in my system. I won a CP-850. So this leaves me with two questions.

1. If I switch out the Corsair, would the fact that it has run a month and a half or so already greatly decrease it's life? Is there any effect of running a power supply and then shelving it?
For reference, the current power supply has no issues.

2. This question is of a lower priority, but would you switch the PSUs in my case? I figure all things equal it's worth doing, as the 850-CP won't work in all cases. Plus it was rated well. Still, I figure there's no harm in asking for opinions.

Thanks in advance.

No to both.

Yes, because the CP-850 is a better PSU than the TX850.

I would have to agree also to swap your 850TX and put in the CP-850. Since that CP-850 will only fit in certain cases such as your Antec 1200, if you try and sell it, other people may get turned off by the fact that it may not fit in their computer case. But, the 850TX would fit in most computer cases.

yeah i won the CP-850 on the antec newegg promo thing as well and i gotta say.. i love the cp-850.. my case temps dropped 10C with it after changing it out from the pos thermaltake TP 750w.. thats the last thermaltake PSU im ever buying... the thing worked.. but the fan on it was absolutely pointless.. spun so slow that it couldnt even push the heat out the back..

also from switching to the cp-850 from the 750w my power usage at the wall as decreased a bit.. going from a 78% efficiency psu to the 850 which is a 80+ cert..

btw the CP-850 will fit in any case that has the removable standard PSU bracket.. it fit perfectly fine in my xclios windtunnel case.. just took the 4 screws out for the bracket on the case and screwed the psu in..
