Getting a ticket for “imprudent speed” after you crash daddy’s Audi S4 sucks. Losing your license and getting a $1000 fine after the cops see the YouTube video you posted of you doing 160mph at the time of the crash is even worse.

Because of the YouTube posting, police were able to bring additional charges against the driver instead of just the "imprudent speed" citation originally issued to him in April. His license was suspended and he was fined more than $1,000.

Good. If that was my kid, he would have wished that he died in that crash because he's most certainly going to face death when I get to him.

Why do some people think that speed kills? There is nothing wrong with speeding if safety is kept in mind.

Fucking idiots. Driving is a privilege, not a right. Should ban him from driving for several years until he gets the fucking idea.

Material Objects > Offspring Life and Safety

You better be trolling.

I know right! Doesn't he know that if you pass the posted speed limit your car instantly bursts into flames killing everyone around?!

^if you see the way americans drive though, you would understand why we have such low speed limits.

but on the interstate roads, its 80mph basically. i pass cops all the time doing 79mph... no problems. depends on what kind vehicle you drive too, i dont fly past them in a honda rice rocket...

Lots of trolls jumping in early on.

Material objects? lmao. I hate the S4, I eat that car without any problems. The point is the he did something that could have killed everyone with him and killed other innocent motorists.

He also did something irresponsible, illegal, and untrustworthy.

Guess what, I live in Germany and speeding is really nothing here. We have Autobahn which is safe for speeding and we build cars with safety in mind.

lol. You people with your Autobahn, it's not the end of can be in the world. You also have speed limits that are dynamic and reckless driving can get your ass nailed.

As always someone on the fucking Front Page News board misses the point. How does it feel to be so dense?

I'm talking about the fact that while he's talking about safety, this is the US where most people drive at the posted speed limit and going over the posted speed threatens others because of the chance that they will not see you coming when changing lanes and etc. That is the dangerous part. While he may have the autobahn, we certainly don't here and it's done in the safety of people. High speed limits such as 80MPH may be fine as they're safer than at 60MPH but they're posted which everyone follows. Someone going over is recklessly endangering themselves and others.

That's why I said that there is nothing wrong with speeding if you have safety in mind. Here, it is mandatory to do the routine check for the cars and the car is only allowed to be driven as fast as it could safely. There is no point limiting the speed of a Porsche on the Autobahn to the same speed limit of a Ford Mondeo.

Dunno where you live but come to DC area and if you see anybody driving the speed limit I'll buy you lunch. You can be doing 75 in a 55 and people will STILL be leaving you in the dust.

wha? people doing stupid things, recording them, and uploading the video to youtube? They got in trouble? I thought this type of thing never happens!?!?

People die in car crashes going <60 all the time... and yea, we have the same cars you do :p

Most people suck at driving/don't understand how their car reacts in certain situations. Taking one of those "High performance" classes would teach everyone a lot more about driving and how car's work / react. Especially kids... (Including myself) who have only been driving a few years, if that...

Watching shit like that makes you realize how little you know how to control your car...

It is much less of the same here, especially in the south. You are not going to get pulled for doing 100+ in a lambo on an open road and operating safely... but you are sure as hell going to get pulled if you streak in between cars, operate a beater, or have a half flat tire... or simply act stupid.

We do have some unlimited speeds on some southern roads here, but it's all based on conditions of the environment, road, cars, and people... just like the autobahn.

The autobahn does have speed limits but it's largely kept unlimited if the conditions are good and you have an adequate car. The EU is trying to change this by imposing fixed speeds rather than its dynamic speeds... IIRC some German towns have already complied to 75mph posted speeds.

The fact that it's an Audi that got wrecked makes this post Hilarious +a million.

160mph is fine at the racetrack. On a standard highway, you're going too fast to predict what other people might do. Someone makes a lane change without a thorough head-check, and suddenly, you have no time to slow down, and you're dead, when at 80mph, you might have been able to react. Add to that that the kid was 17, which in the US means 1-2 years of driving experience absolute tops (and most of that under supervision), and I guarantee you the concept of safety, reaction time, and respect for others on the road was far from the first thing on his mind.

160mph isn't "keeping safety in mind". It's double the speed limit on Montana highways, and more than that everywhere else in the US. If it was my kid, he'd be looking at loss of car, license, insurance, and grounded until the next Presidential election.

In SoCal, this is mostly true.

A buddy of mine once got a ticket going over 120 and the cop was nice to ratcheted it down to 95 because of the >100 premium. And he told him that ppl routinely go 80 in a 65 zone and the cops don't care as long as everyone else is doing the same.

Yeah the fact that this was reported in the article :p :

Did they say the crash is at 160mph? Hilarious indeed.

I rolled a Yamaha Snowmobile at 100+ MPH... I walked from it with only a sore arm. The thing has no airbags and was not designed for safety... but I still lived... and walked miraculously.

Does not mean it's safe. lol

Someone filming their speed is not keeping saftey in mind.

If American cars had no radios, cellphone use was a serious driving infringement and we had faster speeds (like some countries), I could see getting up in arms about the "speed kills propaganda". But I can't see it NOT being a problem in America as it stands.

So if somebody else found the video and posted it, then they wouldn't have got the fine? I see videos of high speed runs on the internet all over the place. I go over 160mph on my streetbike at least once a month. It's mine though, and I make sure there are no cars anywhere near me (1+ miles) on a separated 3 lane highway.

Them passing a car at those speeds in the adjacent lane was really stupid. The kids in the video don't sound very bright either. Sometimes stupidity is the best method of natural selection. Sometimes they learn the hard way though. Hopefully the experience taught them a life-long lesson. Too bad most kids are unable to experience this kind of stuff in a safe environment. The only affordable way to do it is on public streets. It's sad to think that one day at the track costs more than that $1000 fine. heh

I feel sorry for parents who value their physical objects over kids' lives. I feel they should be put to sleep themselves.

+1. Speed limits are basically speeds that enforcement believes most people (and 18 wheelers) can handle. Going over a speed limit doesn't necessarily make it dangerous. Hitting anything just right over walking speed could technically kill you anyway (like a gutter nail through the eyeball).

Stupid kids... this is why my insurance is so damn high.

No, it's all of the people who don't pay attention when driving and the fucktards on their cell phones. All of the avoidable crashes vastly outnumber the high speed accidents.

I agree with you, but if there are no other cars around and no blind corners, then what's the harm in 160mph? If I throw myself off the highway and only injure or kill myself, then what does that matter to anybody else? My body, my possessions, none of your business. I don't need anybody else worrying about what I do to myself. :p (not trying to start an argument, but just upset how people believe they have the right to force somebody else to be "safe" to themselves)

Come on! The cops are fat enough sitting around eating donuts and driving around harassing people. When people post their crimes on youtube the cops don't even have to leave their desks. Make them earn their pay checks!

That's how it is everywhere. Up to 20 miles is okay depending on how much your local law enforcements are dicks. But this kid was obviously going twice the speed limit and that's definitely not okay and is recklessly endangering anyone who was on the road at that time.. Everyone on the road expects to be within their speed limit up to +20/-5.

Our highway system was designed for 120+ MPH continuous travel in mind. If people got over to the right when not passing, signal when they change lanes, actually used their rearview mirrors for something besides looking at themselves, and looked into their blind spots before changing lanes it wouldn't be an issue. But instead of enforcing those rules they institute restrictive speed limits solely to give the people not paying attention more time to react.

Not everywhere. Here in So. Cal. (PRK) it would be nice to be able to drive the speed limit, or even half of it. Usually you just kind of sit there, slowly rolling.

Ok guys, ive got just the solution for you guys. Lets limit all cars to 80. Problem solved, right? Surely! why has this not been done? I dunno about you guys but I've never been over 80. It is just so unsafe.

Everyone who has replied to this, even the ones claiming speed is horribly dangerous, have been over 100 mph on the street before. This kid got caught, that is all. He did it extra stupidly, in the dark, with passengers, and with next to no experience. Would I want him anywhere near me? no! do I think he is retarded and risking the lives of others? yes! Speeding in general is not horrible dangerous though.

Haha I've been to California and I agree. It's ridiculious. I hail from Washington so it's at most 80MPH depending on what part of the state I'm in.

Don't forget recording it which is a big distraction from the road.
