I figure I'll get in 3-4 days of SIMAP before I pause BOINC for the SMP client & CC'09... luckily my parts from newegg will be in tomorrow, so I'll be building my first dedicated box (disguised as a media server) on Saturday, right after I get back from watching Wolverine - gotta have priorities, you know. But I'm finally getting quad power!!!
.
.
.

And it's gonna let me bring my 8600GT back online for the CC! +1200ppd, woot!

lol dont worry my priorities are set on wolverine as well tomorrow :p

Just an observation on yoyo:

Old processors seem to get really good credit on OGR-27 in yoyo... I know some people don't run OGR on yoyo, preferring to just run the OGR client itself, but my old 1.4GHz mobile celeron just turned in a WU that took 65 hours to complete, and was awarded 1124 pernt for the effort! On a seconds/point basis, that only about 2% less than my OCed dual core in my sig gets! 415 Boinc points a day on a 1.4 celeron is probably the best bang I'll get outta that old chip!

Wonder if I could get my old P3 to finish a WU in time and get 3K+ pernts for it :D

Welcome Tyler to SHA-1 Collision Search. Welcome to the team/project! Looks like you are putting up some good points! I'll be joining you soon as I move a few boxen to SHA-1 this weekend. :)

Drop in and say hi at some point!

Okay, kids, SIMAP already looks done for the month! If ya didn't get in yet, wait for June 1st...

Just got Win7 RC installed. It was possibly the quickest and easiest install I've ever done.

Anyway, BOINC and F@H are back up and running. I'm trying to push for 10K in all BOINC projects which I've participated in, but some are lacking in work.

This weekend I'm going to play around with VMs for CPU folding.

You may want to get your 10k in SHA while there is work.
Side note - I still havn't tried Win7, is it much faster or nicer?

There are some interface tweaks, but honestly, it's not that different from Vista. However, Vista has a bad rep, and they seem to have really made an effort to have good drivers in place for Win7. I didn't have to download any drivers for my hardware during the install, but I upgraded to the latest Nvidia drivers anyway.

Oh, and I'm cranking on SHA-1 now.

must of been a screw up because i never received any of them.. so i have no clue what they are doing with simap..

Funny, I decided to try for the same thing - I think I got enough SIMAP for my 6th project over 10K, with only 15 more to go... Although I may not try as hard on Sudoku or Sztaki!

I don't think they really did this month, either - somehow all available work got claimed before even 20% was turned back in...

Why has there been work shortages in SHA-1?
Hmm.. it seemed to me that they were out of work for quite some time. Guess I just hadn't checked for a while.
Maybe it was just me or -
maybe it was just metallicafan doing them all! I think thats why I haven't been getting any.;)

Thats a pretty nice lead you have on me.
/telling self - must catch up, must catch up.

Yeah I guess I havent run any SHA-1 for a while either. I've been trying to get some of the Math projects up above 9000 Vault points. We managed to get RCN up there, so I think that SHA-1 is next on the list. Then on to ABC. :) I'll join you guys on SHA-1 after the weekend.

I think I got the idea from your post. Also because I set up my sig image on Free-DC and didn't like seeing some of the low scores. :D

I had trouble getting SHA-1 work in the past too, but I'm getting a ton of work now. Sudoku is out of work, and I think Lattice is too. LHC still just has occasional test units. I'm still running Sztaki after crossing 10K, and the two other projects I'm trying to get to 10K are Leiden and QMC. I also just picked up my Cruncher badge in Yoyo, so now I'm going for Evolution. I should be done point whoring before the CC.

Oh, and I just got my first prime in NPLB. It's apparently big enough for the top 1000, but I'm waiting for verification.

Very nice prime there SazanEyes. Great find !
That was worth 4.682 points ! That blows my score of both my primes scores combined right out of the water.
Moved our team's prime position up another spot to. Very cool!

And a very strong start for Engima, already in the top 100. This also gave us a little boost on catching Crunchers Inc.

And now it must be out of work? I cant get any WUs from the project at least. :(

Enigma work comes and goes really fast.
Many teams are soaking up as much as possible.
Seems like about every 2 hours they drop another small batch in.

Its not over until all 8 teams cross the finish line.
Really? We're supposed to keep folding 'til we hit 20 million pernts as well? I thought it was just 'til the first team won, and places were frozen at that point. I mean really, if we're waitin' on CPChimps, this won't all be over until Labor day! :D

I'd ask/say something about it on the official CC thread, but since I knowingly made myself the chief A-Hole of this year's CC, I promised Kendrak I would keep my mouth shut for a while and just fold... But I've seen several people saying that they were going to switch back to themselves now that OCN has won. I'm dying to FINALLY get my new quad up on BONIC and watch my RAC more than double, but can do that 'til I shut down the CC SMP client it's been breaking in on...

Edit: Great minds and all that Sazan?

To be fair, I guess it will only be 2 more weeks until [H]ardApe gets 20 million, but is it really that important to finish fifth instead of, say, seventh?

My 2xGTX 260's will be returning to GPUGRID by morning.
I cant just let these teams mow us over after all the crunching we have done to get where we are.
I stuck it out on Fah until there was a CC winner but it's time I got back to the races that we were already in.

yup i switched back to boinc 2 days ago.. been running RCN and enigma..

x2 - I see we are steadily gaining in Enigma. I also noticed that we got passed up by a team in RCN last night. :( Oh well looks like we will pass 2 more teams today.

I'll leave my GPUs running for the HardApe for a little while yet. Then Im going to have to put the 4850 back in and see if I can remember how to setup the ATI Milkyway@home client. We seem to have lost about 10 spots in that.

Jathanis - FWIW, I'm still glad your DC'ing with the Horde. ;)

Glad now we can have the Commandos working at full force. I am working on Enigma right now but plan to switch around. I wanna try to get all of my boinc project at least to 10,000 points because seeing stats saying I only have 100 points for a project is sad. I will keep one machine dedicated to Enigma until it hits 9000 on the vault.

Now lets regain those spots we lost!

Sounds like Sudoku is about to be removed from the DC-Vault.

Well, if they do, it will close the gap on Crunchers & Anand by a few thousand for us, and give us some extra breathing room over Haiku... Speaking of which, anyone else notice them sneaking up on us? We had a 10K+ pernt lead that's down to 8500 or so during the CC!

And BTW, thanks Metallicafan, I'm glad to (still) be here!

Yeah they havent had any work for a while now. I was reading around on there forums a few days ago trying to find out why. I guess the next iteration of Sudoku puzzle is going to take years with the current processing power and they seemed to think it just wasn't feasible to do.

Oh well. It will catch us up in the Vault I guess. :)

Built me a dedicated EON Proxy out of my old 4ghz P4HT.
Lets my other 3 boxen just crunch without IO overhead.

What did you have to configure to get the client pc's to work with the proxy pc?

What did you have to configure to get the client pc's to work with the proxy pc?
The client that gets work from the proxy server you just tell it to get work from proxy and give it the network name or ip address of your proxy server.
The proxy server to set up all you need to tell it to be the proxy server is in the EON options and tell it how many to que up and how many to up/download at a time.
Thats about it. If you have problems getting the client to get work from the proxy server make sure on both machines that a firewall isn't blocking EON.

Wow. Just looking at the GPUGRID stats pages. The competition is tough in there. Whew. There is a lot of team putting up a lot of points.

//Runs to prepare reinforcements. :D

yeah i just put my 8800GT on gpugrid 2 days ago.. already done 9k points.. :p

SazanEyes did your Ufluid units restart at about 35% a couple time then finish?
How long did your last Ufluid units take?

I just did a bunch of ufluid, they were between 30000 and 60000 seconds, had them resetting and some with compute errors. They also don't appear to have checkpointing, as a machine reboot trashed some tasks a 33hrs. but there's nothing that long in my task list.
I haven't had time to watch them that closely though.

Thanks tr0ach for the info.
Looks like I should have let 4 that I was working on run a little longer before trashing them on my quad.
I put a dual core on uFluids this morning since it almost never gets rebooted, hopefully I can let it push up to 25k.
I noticed that the points awarded for the time spent is pretty low, this is going to be a long push.
The admin over at uFluids said that he was going to try to get the checkpoints working so hopefully in the near future we may see that.

Thanks for dropping in tr0ach, always nice to hear from you.

I came across this list on the official BOINC site which lists a number of publications documenting the results published by projects using the BOINC client. It is by no means complete, but it can be a handy reference next time someone asks what good comes of these projects. There is currently published results from 16 projects.
