I really could use some help here...I need to get a VGA PC output to a tv with the following inputs:

Component
HDMI
Tuner
S-Video
Composite
USB 4 pin Front
Headphone Jack
S-Video
Composite

The TV is a Philips 42PF7321D-37 to be exact.

Here's the catch - I need to do this with cables available from radioshack/BB/similar B&M stores. I need to do this tonight to get an out of market baseball game from my laptop onto the TV for a bunch of friends coming over to watch it.

Yeah I know, stupid. I assumed the TV would have a VGA input :(

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Easiest way is VGA to Component adapter. VGA is an analog connection so you can't hook it up through HDMI. Typically a video card will also have s-video out available.

Then for the audio just get a 3.5mm Headphone to RCA cable. Then you'll just plug the Component cables and the 2 rca connectors into your tv for both Video and Audio. Shouldn't cost you more than $20-30 depending on what your local store has available. Radio Shack loves to charge insane amounts of money for these little cables.

I thought of that and checked the website. I can't find a single store that carries that. Computer is a laptop so no s-video.

bastards were out of stock. sucks.

For that to work it the VGA port needs to support component out over VGA (RGB). Only then would it have worked.

Anyways, you're using a laptop. Build an HTPC and never have this problem again.

He wants to connect it to an HDTV, so why on earth would you even consider S-Video?

Wonder what he ended up doing, heh... Worst case scenario I would've just dug a desktop out from somewhere and hooked it up rather than going mad trying to find the right cable for the laptop. I'm sure one of his friends had to have a laptop w/DVI/HDMI out otherwise.
