Lately my 780i has been having well lets just call them troubles, so I have to replace it but I am unsure at the moment what to replace it with. I don't plan on using sli so I would like a board with an intel chipset, I have around $260. any help would be greatly appreciated

I'd recommend the Asus P5Q Pro over all the others listed. Excellent board for overclocking and it performs very, very well against the competition at stock speeds.

I'd recommend the UD3P since it's a mean overclocker with better heatpipe cooling than the Asus P5Q Pro

the only thing that throws me off about the gigabyte board is the funky colors

Same here. It looks like a little kid got crazy with the crayons. Really should not matter unless you havea case with a window :)

I'm more partial towards the Asus mainly because I've been using their boards for a long time now without any problems.

is it worth it to me to actually be spending the set amount I have on a motherboard, or should I be going for less?

If your not using Crossfire then a P45 board is fine (the X48's are 2x16 in Corssfire while P45's are 2x8 - but 16x with single card). I just bought an Asus P5Q-E to hold me over until Nehalem stuff smooths out

That board is on third revision now and doing well (I liked the cooling, eSata and the Express Gate). The Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P users seem pretty happy as well.

You know what I think I will just hold onto my money for now. I think I can make my 780i last another month or two, unless I find a great deal next friday at frys. Otherwise I will hold off and just go for an i7 setup in a few months.
