Hi, I just did my first build yesterday with a Asus P5Q Pro motherboard, E8500, sata HD and dvd burners and I'm having a couple of issues. Such as the Lan (Ethernet) port in the back seems nonfunctional. The on board Lan is enabled in the bios, and if i hook it up with an internet connection, my router doesnt detect it, neither does the computer. LED around the Ethernet port doesnt light up either, its suppose to when there is a connection, even when the computer is off (so i know its not a driver/OS issue). I know that its not my cable, nor is it my internet. So could this be a motherboard problem?

My speakers are not detected, I have it connected with that audio cable with the green head (srry dont know specific name). The speakers work fine in other computers i've tried. So can i assume this is a motherboard problem?

As for the memory, I have CORSAIR 4gb 1066 I set it to 2.1v from (auto) and 1066mhz from (Auto), but the timing was suppose to be 5-5-5-15. However, I got some 3 different timings, and they were like 5-6-5-.....-54, dont really remember what exact numbers in between, but it was more than 7 numbers in total. bios detects all 4gb though

Also I see no option to do a memory test in the bios. anyone know how?

Time is running out to exchange the stuff i got from newegg, so any help is appriciated.

thanks

I assume that you installed all the mobo drivers first thing right? audio, networking, chipset

As for the ram. I would set the timings/voltage manually per specs of the ram.

Reinstall all the drivers, go into bios reset everything to default settings (if they arent). Might want to try formatting again, then reinstall all drivers. Also go to Asus and make sure you have lastest version. Then if nothing works, worst case scenario its a defective motherboard. Good luck

don't i feel like an idiot (noob)....ahh, i assumed there was no need for drivers when it came to onboard audio/lan. The reason i didnt install the motherbaord cd was because i was planning to do so when i installed vista in a day or two.
.I have a 9600 gso ...and currently with win xp pro... the windows (for applications) wobble when ever i move them... i assume thats also becasue i didnt install the cd that came with it...was going to install when i got vista

Thanks a lot guys for helping...one quick question, i cannot see a section for the video card in the bios...where can i check the temp, and see/edit the running specs/settings of it. Thanks

You won't be able to see those thru the mobo bios, you'll need a program like gpu-z, rivatuner, or ntune
