Antec has a new open air PC case called the Skeleton coming out soon and I think it looks great, you can sign me up for one. What do you guys think of it?

The Antec Skeleton is a truly revolutionary enclosure. With a unique design that allows for unprecedented airflow, a front 92mm fan, and a top three speed 250mm fan with multicolor LED customization, the Skeleton goes utterly unmatched in stylish cooling. Factor in the layered component trays for top-notch convenience, as well as the rackmount quality side rails, and you have a case truly without equal.

Hey, I missed it. The main cases forum is usually seldom used these days so this one missed me by. News to me!

On that note, though - I am really curious as to it's cooling capability. Seems more for show than anything else. Dust will probably love it too.

I might actually short something out when I drool over this thing.

Really, this case isn't for use anywhere near children, pets, in public places... This has some nice advantages, but there are some advantages to having components inside an enclosure. I'd like to have one of these on the test bench!

Wasn't there a thread about this somewhere else?

For every forum member we have that might have seen the Skeleton, there are thousands of people that read the front page that HAVEN'T seen it yet. . . that is why this is the front page news section. There are some people that only visit the news section of the forum so we post these types of links here for them to see / comment on these things.

Thanks

Expect it would be noisy as well. I love my P180 simply because of all the dampening it has.
But, does look awesome, and with a water cooling solution would probably rock.

Hell if that thing is reasonably priced I might snag one up;

Got a TT Armor right now, and it is nice, but...damn it's heavy! And just a tad...I dunno, excessive. I loved it at first, but now it's sort of like "the Giant black thing" in my room.

Holy shit, that case is gorgeous.

When I clicked the link I was fully expecting something like a PVC pipe frame cage of sorts that resembles a computer case. I did NOT expect this work of art.

Any idea on the cost? I'll have to look around.

yeah def for a house with a good air system to keep the dust levels down. and no pets or children, or well trained ones at least.

I like most antec cases, hell I have two P182's, but this looks like crap.

No locations for mounting radiators. Come on Antec, I've seen other open air case designs that allow for the placement of at least 120x2 rads that this antec design is screaming for.

I'd like to see a picture of one with a system inside it. It seems to me this might look novel and cool now, but when you stick a full system with wires everywhere in it, it might not look so nice.

I'm sorry Steve, I wasn't saying "hey dillweed, there has already been threads on this" I was thinking aloud cause I remembered seeing something about an open air case.

My apologies.

thats what I was thinking...even sata cables and flat power connections might not go over very well..

I would expect that thing to be a dust magnet...interesting look, I'm sure it will be great for a test bench pc

I like everything but they ghey colored fan. I'd like plain black please.

Its gonna be fun to mod this baby and to see the mods that people come out with for it. lots o' fun.

The video gives a better idea of the size of the Skeleton. That's huge!

Good thing I don't have cats, but I do have dust. Hm.

I've been looking into a new media PC for living room, may make for an interesting enclosure;)

Very tempting. I hope the price is less than $125. Am I too optimistic? It might be tough to hide those ugly cables, though.

$10 to the first modder to replace the top fan so the rig HOVERS... Then again, I take it back, someone's likely to do this inadvertently just trying to break some record with air cooling. ;)

looks good to me, I am interested to see how that actually works.

Sick... that would be pretty cool, but the noise would kinda suck... maybe they could put a sorta cone around it or something.

I saw this @ Nvision. The case is pretty silent! I do agree that it will attract dust...

First thought that comes to mind isn't dust. First one to me? Liquid. Hey, how many people might not drink a soda pop, coffee, tea or whatever next to their PC? Okay, the motherboard is raised up in the air so it would be hard to accidentely dump one's favorite beverage into the case, but it's still possible.
