Old School Diablo Revival!!!!

Alright. I'm in. Running around hardcore normal after a ladder reset in diablo 2 is some of the funnest shit I've ever done online.
 
I see Diablo terms pop up every now and then. Can somebody explain what a "dkey" is and why it's so valuable?
 
there are 3 keys. Hate Key, Terror Key, and Destruction Key. Destruction keys are significantly harder to get than the other 2. (Particularly in hardcore).

Keys are used to summon portals to get organs. When you have all 3 organs you can summon uber tristram and clear it in order to get a torch. (grand charm with +3 all (class) skills, 10-20 all stats, and 10-20 all res.

I ordered the original Diablo today because I lost mine. If anyone wants to play I will have it in a week or two. Will there be any problems trying to run it on a new computer with Vista?

Wow, I guess they've patched it a bit since I last played.
 
if anyone is interested in making a hardcore character like, right now, my friend and I are about to level new chars real quick in a private game. takes like 45 minutes to get from 1-25, if that. Then I'll do nm cows for us from 25-40, then rush us through nm.
 
d2 is #12 on xfire now, needs about 1000 more hours to get a top 10 spot! hahah
 
Is anyone on USWest softcore? I could really use a buddy to mule with. Have some free items for low chars as well.

The D2 community has matured a great deal. I've met a lot of helpful people in the short time that I've started playing again.

By "Bad" what I meant was that USWest is supposedly pretty empty compared to East.


I've also heard that east is significantly less populated that the Euro server.
 
Baw, I didn't notice this thread before I went and beat Diablo single-player just two days ago. Let me tell ya, Rogues get pretty annoyingly weak by Hell. Whose bright idea was it to exclude Bows from getting enchantments like "Kings"? Diablo himself took nearly a whole inventory of potions to survive long enough.

With regards to Hellfire - I think it's a pretty fun expansion. I like that its quests are completely on-the-side. I like the Oils. I like the new classes even if they're overpowered. Too bad I lost my disk for that one.

I think I gave my D1 game away many years ago. It would be cool if The Witcher was multiplayer.
 
Posted on the other thread, might as well post here too. I'm on USEAST if anyone wants to play. Currently only have a softcore LOD ladder character, may try hardcore later.

my account currently restricted from realm cause i was doing too much baal runs low. current char is a work in progress meteorb in the lvl 60's forgot which to be exact. if the restriction last longer im tempted to make another acct since it only took 2 days of playing to get in 60's anyway...

No if you join/create and leave games too fast blizzard will temp ban you from the server. This is supposed to get bots, but it gets us regular users instead.
 
Diablo 2 was never really 'unpopular'...it's always had more active players than a lot of the 'big' games of the past few years...even if 1/2 of them are bots :p
 
While playing TCP/IP with someone I know, one of the coolest commands ever is:

/players 8

We had to crank it back down to 4 to take down Diablo though. :(

In the chat channel you can type /friends *accountname and it will bring up that account whenever they log in.

I logged off a bit ago, trying to decide what character to start.

Now I vaguely remember hardcore, but from what I remember about it it was pretty much hack central. has this changed and what is the current draw to playing hardcore vs softcore?
 
I was thinking we should have a dedicated private [h]ard channel on each server

like /join [h]ard so we can all get together on our server

getting into battle.net

I like many others haven't played in years and my CD's were tossed long ago. I purchased some serials from the link (G2Buy.com I think) in one of the other Diablo II threads and it worked without a hitch. I got the serials in under 10 minutes, registered them with blizzard and downloaded D2 and D2: LOD installed and played for around 20 minutes with no issues. Tried to play today and received the following error...

"Battle.net was unable to properly identify your application version"

google turned up this is related to hacks but I'm definitely not hacking, anyone else get this? :confused:
 
Ya I did, just set it to have admin rights and it worked fine afterwards. Worked fine the first night without doing that, the next day I had the error /shrug

Blizzard should definitely lower their price on all their Diablo 2 releases. I was lucky to score the Battlechest off a friend for $20. Will install tonight and report back on what I think (never played it before).
 
Where did the other thread go that was actually being updated with account names on the first post? Oh well.
