you have a good Mobo to OC, do you have an aftermarket CPU cooler???

watch your temps and try to stay below 60C,

Updated:
I just overclocked my cpu a bit, not to much i think it can go more but idk how much and i dont want to try right now, but i was wondering if i oc my memory what will happen ... and what program do i use to do that if i wanted to oc my memory

Update again...i just pushed 3.1ghz at 1.3v im so freaking impressed, now to figure out how to oc memory

Since you have a DS3L, you really really should read one of the best guides for overclocking on/with Gigabyte motherboards I've ever read:
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1169366

It's very thorough so you should be able to squeeze every once of performance out your system without too much trouble.

And you use the BIOS to OC the RAM. Remember to keep the System Memory Multiplier at 2.00 for a 1:1 ratio between your RAM and CPU for best optimized performance. Though if I'm reading your OC right, your FSB is at 442Mhz correct? Hopefully your RAM can run at 884Mhz.

its only at 399fsb..and i hit 3.1ghz

Are you sure? The E6550 has a 7x multiplier. 7 x 399 = 2.79 Ghz.

thats what i have it at and i ran orthos and it clocks it at 3.1 i ran it stable for about 4 hours now

Update: i put it on 442mhz and it went down to just 3.0

changed the fsb to 446mhz, and i did the 1:1 ratio thing with the memory, and these are the results i got with virtualmark

What other sites have pc analyzers like 3dmark?

104xx on 3dmark06?

That's terrible if you ask me. My e2180 @ 3.0ghz gets 11400+.

How well do you do in games?

Also don't trust Orthos to tell you the correct frequency. There was a post somewhere else where orthos said the guys CPU was running at 3.999 instead of like 3.1 or something.

Use CPU-Z. When I OC I have CPU Z, Orthos, and Core temp (and/or Everest).

thats virtual mark...i didnt buy 3dmark...and for the readings on orthos they were cross referenced with cpuz

Update:
32ghz.jpg

i get 15,400 with that test. i have a Q6600 at 3.5ghz, 8800gts g92, and 4gb ddr2 800 ram. sounds about right??

u can download 3dmark06 demo for free, which is what most ppl do. id say less than 5% of 3dmark runners actually buy it.

I need help now, im trying to get 3.4 but everytime i try to push the fsb it fails and sets it back to stock does anyone know some settings to hit 3.4? Motherboard is a gigabyte ga p35 ds3l

wtf? why is my score so much lower if your getting only .2ghz more than me

q6600 = quad core

e6550 = dual core

Increase Vcore, NB/SB, VRam

decrease ram timings/frequency

If that doesn't work I think that means you're at your max for that chip. Don't take my word on that though because i'm not an expert.

OK first of all, how long have you run Orthos on your current stable OC?

Second, we need to know what settings you have changed in the BIOS. Please post a picture or type out all the settings you changed in the MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.) section of the BIOS.
