I figured i would open this thread up again now that the deals seems to be warming up. I checked out my local CompUSA and although most things are not worth while at this point i did see a few things that are really starting to warm up. For example cell phones were now 40% off. Sure you can get a better deal when you sign up for new service, but this is a [H]ot Deal if you are in contract and want to upgrade.

Lets try to keep things on target with this thread so it doesnt get closed again by only posting the deals that are warming up

DO NOT USE THIS THREAD TO COMPLAIN ABOUT ANY PERCIEVED LACK OF DISCOUNTS. ONLY POST [H]OT DEALS YOU HAVE SEEN AT YOUR LOCAL COMPUSA

Windows Vista Ultimate Upgrade Retail for $220.

(JUST NOTICED ONLY FOR THOSE THAT GOT THE EMAIL) Now this wouldn't be [H]ot if it weren't for MS buy one get one free Windows Vista Ultimate (Retail or Retail Upgrade). Activate your copy of Windows Vista Ultimate between 12/01/2007 and 01/15/2007 go to http://www.windowsvistaevalcomp.com and follow the instructions. You'll get a second key 7-10 business days later in your email. Just put a new comp for someone and they told me I could just submit theres for a free copy for myself, also bought that at CompUSA for the above price, woot!

Go good deal at the two by me( Boulder, Co and Brromfield, Co ). Most stuff is only 10% off with a bin o crap at 30% off.

Yes you need to log in and have gotten an email invite.

Sorry just noticed that it's for Beta testers or MSDN and by email invite only. I got the email at the beginning of the month and didn't remember, I just book marked the site in case I got to build a Vista machine, which as luck would have happened.

They have some FreeBSD books for 30%
Slingbox Pro $225 -25% = about $180 with GA taxes. Amazon.com has it for $189.

Anyone notice if software is more than 10% off now? Thats really just not worth it yet.

barely saves me tax as opposed to buying from amazon.

I was in a local store yesterday, and they had bumped software to 15% off. Vista Home Premium 32-bit Upgrade was still $159 - 15%+tax.

Oh, and I asked 1 of the folks if they would price match to any local B&M competitor on in-store/in-stock product? Reply came back as"Nope", which seems odd if they're looking to clear inventory. They stated the intended "doors closing" day will be in the 2nd week of Feb.

This thread is going where the other two went quickly. If you know of a hot deal at the store, post it. This is not the [N]ot[H]ot deals forum.

I got some mac power cables (for use with a macbook pro ac adapter) for $3 a pop. Considering you would otherwise have to order these from apple, I thought it was a decent deal. It will save me from crawling under my desk when I need to move my adapter at least.

While I agree with you to an extent, I was sad to see the other thread go. I really enjoy the up-to-date notifications people provide on discounts and drops at their local stores. Since this is a liquidation, product availability at stores is very different, so creating a single thread for each deal that comes along seems extremely YMMV.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful, I'm just providing a different point of view. :D

at my store all the cell phones are gone. :D

See that is a perfect example of YMMV. My local store has quite a few high end blackberry and PDA phones left. I am waiting a bit longer for a nokia e62 since i have heard less than stellar reviews in terms of its performance as a s60 device, and i already have my n95. But it would be nice to have a non camera phone for when i have to go into courthouses for work.

That's not at all what he's saying. He's saying DONT post "Compusa sucks" or "theres no good deals" or "this is 20% off but still costs more money that xxxxxx retailer". He's also saying DO post if you find a good deal. Thus, consolidating into one thread with only good deals posted. Whiny posts, including this one (sorry), are off-topic and will lead to this thread getting trashed.

Today I got an APC SurgeArrest out the door for ~$25--about half of what it is on NewEgg. They had some cool stuff that was cheap, but most of it was overpriced and then discounted. There are still some good deals, just not what you would expect.

I also saw an HP w2207 for $300, but it was an Innolux panel. If it were Samsung, I would have snatched it. They had the HP w2007's for ~180, which is HOT if you ask me. All of their monitors were marked down quite a bit. Be sure to check for pixel problems before you buy, as all sales are final. Just FYI.

The store had been picked pretty clean, and almost no hard drives, video cards, or DIY stuff left.

There will have to be better deals later on.

Any good Desktop computer deals? My AMD64 3400 is about to go since the motherboard doesnt have a PCIe slot and the vid card is dying :(

20% off all HDTV's at the one I checked out here in NYC. Everything else seems to be the same.

I checked my store in Jacksonville, FL last night, and toner cartridges are 15% off. I checked what my HP 3800 cartridges would cost as opposed to ordering from Newegg, and they're only $4 more than the Newegg discounted price. If I bought a complete set (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, Black), it's the same as Newegg with shipping ($12.39 to be exact), so I think that counts as a deal.

If it were 20% or more, obviously it'd be better, but who knows if the cartridges will be there at that point.

Would you guys mind posting what locations you're referring to?

I'll let you know about the NY store next week.

CompUSA (#244) - Tucson, AZ

25% off all PSUs

Anything that was 10% off last week has been raised to 15% this week.

Cases on display (open box/no box) can be haggled for price.

Tons of stock left. I'd hold out longer. Discounts are sure to raise.

Woot, a full 3 days early. The guys here (Goleta, CA) told me the next price drop would happen on 1/7/08 (Monday). I'm gonna stop by me store today, need a new PSU!

Will CompUSA also closeout compusa.com or keep that alive and strictly be an e-tailer, like Newegg?

From what i have read they are trying to sell compusa.com as a turnkey operation. That is why they dont have giant GOING OUT OF BUSINESS banners all over it.

fwiw, a salesguy told me that they're dropping prices each wednesday. This will go on for a few weeks and then get sold off as a lot

Printer ink is a good deal since prices don't range much between retailers/newegg. 20% off at my local one (picked up some more Epson T069 inks since they run out so fast.)

FWIW don't bother going over to the book section. They bought a whole bunch of books from some used bookstore and put new pricetags on it. They didn't take one of the tags off some MS training book - The tag from wherever they bought it said $2 and Compusa was asking $20.

I picked up an Ipod dock for $35. Not exactly smoking, but I thought it a pretty good deal since Apple stuff basically never goes on sale. All the ipod accessories were 30% off. I would have waited it out, but this was the dock at my store.

The only deals that I would call really good are on unlocked cell phones -- 40%.

I don't consider the Sprint/Verizon/Cingular phones hot yet because the 40% is off of the MSRP. Even at 40% most of the prices are still higher than what they cost when you sign a contract. However, if you're looking for an unlocked Nokia or HTC, this is a decent deal.

The only other thing I thought about buying was a store owned item -- a Viewsonic N4 scaler for $20.

I saw the beefy 30" Gateway monitor for less than newegg, but I still don't have the 1600ish to buy it

I bought a Cooler Master case for $50 and an OK Cooler Master heatsink for $20. Considering I'd probably pay $50 for shipping of a case from the egg to Alaska, this was a pretty good deal.

Picked up some Sennheiser HD 465's for $33. (Not the greatest cans - but good enough for gaming and movies)

Stopped in tonight. I've been looking at picking up a couple of quad-core desktops for the video microscope and editing station in our lab. I've been keeping an eye on the systems at CompUSA looking to score a deal. As of right now, the CompUSA in Corpus Christi is still only offering a 5% discount on systems. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has seen better deals in their stores.

Saw the Monster Cables at 25% off, don't really know if everyone else discounts this cables but I have been looking to purchase some compenent video cables so I saw it as good deals, unfortunately for me, they don't have the length I was looking for.

This was in the Miami/Kendall store

I forgot CompUSA is closing their stores. I will have to see what the one near me has to offer. I've been wanting to purchase a gaming controller for my PC so hopefully I will get lucky. I'll report back my findings.

If anybody can find an ATT Tilt at a CompUSA for 40% off, I'd pay for shipping plus a little extra. I've called every one within 250 miles of me, and none are in stock.

Hope this isn't considered complaining about the lack of deals. My stores have the deals, just no stock.

LOL Yesterday there was a guy standing at the intersection by my house holding a big sign says Up to 30% off whole store at CompUSA. I live about 4 miles from a CompUSA LOL WTF is this guy doing by my house?!?!?

I did go there, was on my way anyway to check for hard drives, they were sold out of pretty much everything, store was packed could barely find a place to park! Best deal is on the used displays and TV's. I was looking at an Apple Cinema display but only 5% off other displays are much better deals at 20% off but not a large selection left. Also there is still huge selection of printer ink for 15% off.

Anyways I think they are at the point of haggling prices as everywhere I went there were sales people and customers doing counter offers back and forth on items. Did not actually try it myself but If your looking for deals I suggest haggling, it seemed to be working well for other people.

No matter the discount, Monster is a rip off. It's all marketing hype.

That makes sense and I wouldn't be surprised if some dot-com company added compusa.com to their site (even as a wholly-owned subsidiary). Speaking of banners, I wanted to post these pics in that other thread, but didn't get a chance before a moderator closed it. So here it is for all of your viewing pleasure. I took them in them in the Mt. Laurel, NJ store on Fri., 12/21/07.
