If there was any question whether or not this guy is a scammer, then the empty PayPal account seals the deal

What? Safe using PP? I just accessed my PP account and this flashed on the screen:

"Paypal. The safer, easier way to pay."


What a joke. With all the trolling going on I had to access my account to make sure that funds were being taken from my CC and not the bank.

The only one who makes money on these deals is Paypal.

Sigh ...
 
I think harvey over at anandtech will keep us up to date..

We just need to stay put on this.. so who emailed Corporal Beasley about their local report over the weekend?

Yeah Harvey's a bit more active over on Anand, no offense to Malcolm, but there's nothing new over there and I'm sure a bunch of the ppl were scammed on here.
 
paypal is pretty much useless. called credit card company talked to disputes and explained to him what happened (5 minute call max), charge refunded and report forwarded to investigations. awesome!

not so lucky to me.. i will never use bank transfer for big transactions...

Ditto, got screwed a while back and my bank told me chargebacks are impossible unless i used a credit card (Great western bank). They said if you use a check you can put a stop payment on it before its cashed but thats all they can do.
 
If PayPal used your Visa/MC debit card, they absolutely CAN do a charge back. You may have to file a dispute with your bank, but as long as paypal uses that debit card you can have your bank reverse those funds.

.. if we are safe we wouldnt be out more than $4k in total now.. fucking paypal is a useless piece of shit.

Anyways, I will my lesson and will only use credit card for paypal now..

"You made an agreement with him, the only thing I can do for you is agree to testify for you if you chose to press charges"

So me and my son get the bone unless LF pays up or ships me the mac back...

this is EXACTLY what we are trying to do, press CHARGES against him.. where were you?

File your report w/ that sheriff and forward it to the Palaski County!
 
I just got off the phone with his mother,

She gathered up the mac mini stuff, and stated she was going to ship it out to me priority tomorrow, she said that she's working to ship back anyones stuff.

She confirmed that Chris is still in jail as well.

And yes, I know to file a police report, but since his call I've been out visiting relatives, having only gotten back yesterday.

He claimed he is sending me a refund for my $70 in a money order, sending through Fedex with Signature Confirmation.
 
FILE CHARGES. Even if you think you may receive what is owed you, by not filing charges your are doing a disservice to those who will receive no remuneration or compensation.

Maybe it was her sending the email. Maybe not, depends on what email said I guess.

I'm not 100% sure about police-work, but file charges and deal with the actual stuff later. This guy has zero credibility at this point; don't afford him mroe simply because you spoke to a live person. Who knows what kind of ring this guy may have going or whether that's his real mom or not. There's too many threads across the internet concerning "oh my mom, dad, brother, half-sister, third brother twice removed will ship it" and it's just a scamming delay tactic.

File the charges, priority should get to you in 2 days; if it doesn't, it's only more proof this douche needs to be put away for good. Don't believe anything from anyone at this point unless they can provide you with hard, physical evidence of your stuff. Like dated pictures with the newspaper deal or something.

Also, he asked me to post in here for everyone dealing with this to email him. He claims he is trying to get addresses and names collected to refund people. Who know if he's serious but it can't hurt.

Right, but besides not answering the questions about pending transactions, can he answer this?

Why is your Paypal account EMPTY???
What happened to the $6000 worth of bonuses and stuff sold???
Why do you not have contact information for your buyers???

I'm not monetarily involved anymore and finals week approaches rapidly :eek:; but this douche hasn't proven he's genuine in any sense of the word. Why should anyone cut him any slack now just cuz he's provided an email address.
 
Im not asking you to cut him ANY slack. Everyone keep up pursuing it until it is resolved just as you are right now, but also contact him just incase he did come to him senses and does send refunds/items.

I am not dropping any charges, but I will also email him.. what his email? because the other one that he uses got disabled when he got banned from the other forum

More of a general statement / rant; not directed at you, Kido, or anyone else. No offense meant. :)

I say just file charges and go from there. The whole contact him and try to get a refund should just be a side thing with just the tiniest bit of hope. I mean, if you don't have the time to play email tag, why bother. Law enforcement is paid good tax money; let them do the work for you.

If you do try to "work things out":

-Demand he use a fully trackable service, i.e. UPS/Fedex/whatever; enough of the delivery confirmation crap
-Demand he refund you and you will pay him back on delivery
-Demand he acquire a camera and a daily newspaper if "shipping stuff"; do not accept empty excuses anymore, hard proof of non-boxes of rocks is what counts
-Demand he give you a 24/7 contact line or something to ensure good faith

If after all he's done to people and the money he's taken, LF is unwilling to meet these demands to make people happy, then screw him and let him get thrown in the slammer. He doesn't deserve any compassion. :mad:
 
I feel so sorry for you guys.. I am so lucky to have gotten my cash back and gotten out when I did.

Keep fighting the good fight.. turn the screws as much as you can!

i can understand that you think, you personally have the right to call and ask for your items back but really, as a whole i i feel sorry for the mother who is forced to gather up all your geeky items and ship it out.

Her son is in jail and had nothing to do with anyone transactions and i just can't imagine how many calls she gets ppl asking her for random things that she probably doesn't even know what they are.

give the mom a break damn.

I can understand trying to believe in the better part of human nature, but I wouldn't be so naive. There's STILL absolutely NO PROOF LF possessed any of the stuff he was selling; there's absolutely no way to prove the woman is not an accomplice or something at this point in time. This kid is 19, 20, whatever; while it's a nice gesture for his "mom" to help him should she be sincere and genuine, this kid is an adult and should fix his own shit himself.

The biggest problems with everyone's deals so far; all have not been solved:

No proof of shipping at all
No proof of ownership of alleged items
No money in Paypal, despite his claims

As this has developed to this last point, the first two are becoming more and more moot as it's really not worth it anymore beyond filing charges. Too much time wasted. I think the biggest problem right now is why Paypal was unable to recover any money despite LF's allegation that he had thousands due to Army bonuses and stuff he sold. The only explanation would be he emptied it before the claims came piling in or Paypal's extorting money out of people. I have a tendency to believe the former and that can only mean one thing - scammer.
 
Honesltly im glad his mom has to deal with it, maybe she can keep an eye on him from now on since he obviously hasnt grown up yet.
 
The mom is at fault as well. Argue as you may, parents do shape a large part of who we are. Obviously shaping didn't happen.
 
All I want, is my money or item. I don't care. I'd be more than happy to receive my item. I know thats what everyone else want. Paypal of course sided with me, but no funds available...just sucks.

WAT THE HELL.. how come only 10 people filed?? I just want to let the ppl who didnt file reports know that they are extrememly selfish for not filing reports not because they wont get their moneh back but also affect other victims as well.... I am out $410 for this and who is going to give me back those money??? remind me never deal in hardfourm anymore, people are selfish and dont give crap about each other
 
for those who signed up in the victim thread and didnt file reports you guys should ashame of urself..
