Does thermal Grease cause cancer?

Does thermal Grease cause cancer?

well...does it?
Huh?
Which one at what exposure level?

From the AS5 MSDS:
SECTION 11: CARCINOGEN INFORMATION
Cancer Information: No ingredients listed as human carcinogens by NTP or IARC

no if you eat them. the stomach fluid will disintegrate those TIMs :D

I wouldn t spread it on my offspring but its probably harmless as long as you don t ingest it.

I bet they can show if you soak in a tub of TMI for 8 hours a day for 50 years, you will end up with cancer.

$20 I'll put up.

Thermal paste such as AS5 is 99% silver, which doesn't cause cancer, but who knows about the last 1%.

Why is everyone so concerned about random shit giving them cancer? Obviously whatever is causing the cancer to grow inside of you (assuming that it is in the first place), your probably rubbing your face in w/e it is every day. (cigarettes, red meat, using a cell phone while driving)
I believe in natural selection, and cancer is another way of saying your genetics didn't make the cut.

I understand wanting to limit your risk to cancer causing stuff, but lets asume for a second that AS5 IS the most toxic stuff in your house, then it must be the only thing in your house (aside from some tables, I don't think wood causes cancer, except wood from the Chernobyl exclusion zone).

Even if someone used a particular, easily commercially available thermal compound on a daily basis, there's no reason to believe that he'll get cancer from it. The ingredients of the various thermal compounds are relatively inert. Even if someone were smearing it on his hands on a daily basis (that would get expensive pretty quickly), no such cancerous growths would pop up.

Now, if I injected Arctic Silver or Arctic Ceramique into someone's veins, I have good reason to believe that they wouldn't live for very long. Or, if I forced someone to swallow the compound, while hitting them in the trachea, I suppose I could make them choke to death on it.

Keep in mind, that *anything* can be dangerous. After all, if I injected a rat with water, in the amount of 10,000 times the dose that a human being would take in a typical setting (8 ounces), I'm pretty sure that the rat would die after having 80,000 ounces of water injected into him. :)

I think the OP was joking :)

But water poisoning is very real. http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-water-poisoning.htm

The fact is...you can get cancer from pretty much anything and everything...so it probably does cause cancer LOL.

Routers, your PC, monitor, popcorn, any electronic device, insulation, food, clothing, deodorant, cologne, shampoo, styrofoam, aerosols, etc...the list is pretty much endless. Carcinogen schmarcinogen....

I bet you have a better chance of your monitor giving you cancer than thermal grease lol

it's silver for god's sake... I don't recall people getting cancer from their jewelry...

you'll die of cancer from the wet water smell (anti-freeze) if you do water cooling long before you catch anything from the smell of these grease.

This thread has my vote for Most Awesomest Title Ever on [H].

I second that :D

Hey I have a question, does sweat*you know when you get sweat during a hot day* gives you cancer??? :D :p

as far as i know as5 is not 99% silver... on their website it says its contains 99.9% pure silver in other words the silver that is in it is 99.9% pure (not bonded with other elements). It also says Arctic Silver 5 contains over 88% thermally Conductive filler by weight. If the word filler is to include the silver then it is at most 88% silver (though not likely because it contains other solid materials) but if filler is meant to imply only the other contents then it is at most 12% silver. It would be my guess that the silver content is more around 20%

cancer seems to be more a part of natural human DNA then contagen.

According to a friend of mine whos a doctor, every man on this planet is eventually going to come down with prostate cancer, its just weather or not you die of something else first.

Yup... On a side note, this thread is REALLY making me wanna sample the flavour of AS5...

thats why i was asking, its been a few days and i'm not dead, and i haven't felt different

What about touching yourself = cancer ? :p
