Should I? or should I not.. That is the question.

If it was a single drive I was going to have my OS and appications on the raptor, and have all my music and etc on the other drives.

If Raid0, make seperate partition for music and documents. Not sure if it'll benefit. Since I don't move much of the music around.

Real world performance wise, worth it?

Also, would it help to get one of the new hard drives (7200rpm, perp_recording) to move my other drives contents? (apps, music and work files). Still haven't figured out the actual performance gains compared to the older generation hard drives..

Thanks!

I dont have an answer to your question, but im considering doing the same.

Anybody have some thoughts theyd like to share?

ok, then how about the secondary hard drive? Is it recommended to upgrade to the newer generation?

If so, how is this one?

SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB 7200 RPM SATA? Seems to have gotten pretty good reviews. Or shall I go with wd,seagate and others.

I would go with the Hitachi Desktar 500GB. According to Storage Review, the Desktars are the better performers.

Go with a single drive.

Agreed, I've run the Raptors in RAID 0 and single drives the performance gains are negligible. I Decided to change to Raptor 1 running OS and apps only, Raptor 2 running FPS games, (all other drives running storage/backup.)

Ok that's set.
But what would you recommend for a secondary additional storage drive.
@ 500gb ish.

I wouldnt go with a 1TB drive due to: 1) cost too high for a single drive 2) be a bummer if it failed and data is lost if you have no backup plan.

Look at my sig

Raptor 74 for OS/Apps/Games and 320 Gb for storage + a few external HDD around my home. This always served me very well and speed is great :) Before my current setup, I had a Raptor 36 (8MB) + 120 Gb storage which served me well for over 3 years (Decided to get rid due to the Raptor starting to get small with games getting bigger, especially Steam taking a total of ~20 Gb). I didn't go to 150 Gb due to money constraints but I was in a bad timing since 2 days after my purchase, the 150 Gb was in special at 214$ CDN :(

Ordered 1 x 150gb raptor and wd se16 500gb. Think I should've bought the Samsung one, but whatever, I'm just going to be storing my files. >_>
