its been happening for a while now. Im not sure if its the graphics card or the monitor. On a black screen or sometimes on color(rarely) the screen starts displaying all these weird green pixels. Its even doing it right now as i write this. ill include a screenshot soon. Also if you need the specs of my compy look in my sig. :D

Sounds like a stuck pixel problem with the monitor or something... I seriously doubt it's the video card.

this one taken from my cell.

The matrix has you!

Seriously since it's just part of the image and the rest is undisturbed it look like a driver problems. Or it could be heat but then the whole screen would be like that. What drivers are you using?

Whoa! Since it looks like the green lines are only behind certain windows on screen... it might be your OS or the program running (or a program in the background). If it was the monitor or video card, the green would be all across the monitor, not just behind certain windows.

EDIT: Cyant, you beat me to it!

it is all across the screen. I only took a part of the picture. Cuz you couldnt see it on my phone from far back. Its also a 22" Widescreen monitor 16:10. I think it might be a driver. Cuz ati utilities wont work for me with Windows XP Pro. But they work with vista ultimate. Idk ill install vista soon to see if it does it on there.

updated and got ccc working. still displaying green crap all over the screen. Ill install vista tommorow and report back then.

Ohhh so the screenshot don't show the lines and the picture does... Hmmm a cable problem? can you test your monitor and cable with another PC?

Did you install new hardware recently? Did you install new software recently? If yes, try reverting to a previous configuration.

It looks like corrupted software. Could be bad driver. Could be a trojan and someone is humoring you with the matrix treatment. You been on any seedy web sites recently? I'm being kind of serious.

Best thing to do is complete O/S re-install. No, I don't work for Geek squad, but I know this is what they suggest to most people because it usually helps :p

Could aso be heat damage/artifacting. Does it only do it after you'd been using the machine for a while? Take the side off your case and point a big fan at it if you have one, see if the problem goes away. If so your card is overheating.

If you ever see these lines in the BIOS or during POST your card is on its way out and you need to RMA it if possible or replace it if not.

It's a monitor problem, especially if it doesn't show up in screenshots.

Simple test. Turn your monitor off, wait 20 seconds or so and then turn it back on. Are the green pixels gone?

Often times a bad DVI connection (or a faulty interface in either the card or the monitor) will cause 'green sparkles' or errors in the DVI signal which usually show up as green or red intermittent pixels.

Check the connection on both ends of your DVI cable, try a different cable, or suspect a dying monitor.

yeah they're still there, had it off all night so i guess its not a heat issue. Time to RMA newegg style.

Did you try cleaning drivers out in safe mode, then reinstalling? Something tells me that until you do that, you'll have exact same problems with replacement card.

I had this issue for the longest time with my Apple 30" and a 7950GX2.

Do the green pixels go away when you pull the power cord of your monitor and plug it back in after 10 seconds? Do they go away when you switch resolutions a few times?

The issue went away when I upgraded the graphics card. It used to happen occasionally on bootup and when switching resolutions. It was annoying but nothing serious. Lots of people were having a similar issue.

did the power cable. Same problem. But then i switched resolutions went to 1280X720 then the green lines went away. But when i went back to 1680X1050 the lines came back. Since you say you switched video cards is it because my graphics memory is too low for my monitor at this resolution? (256MB)

256MB is plenty for 1680x1050, it may just become a problem with games using very large textures, not sitting on the desktop.

dude, try that monitor on a different computer on the high resolution,

ok i guess i am one of those people. Like i said i switched to 1024X720 problem went away. Well when i turned it off overnight and turned it on this morning i figured i would switch back to 1680X1050. And now there are no green lines. So i guess its the graphics card then. Since you said you replaced yours and it went away?

No it's just random every time you switch resolution from anything to anything else. Try switching back and forth a few times until you end up on the resolution you want but without any green dots.

My problem went away completely when I went from a 7950GX2 to an 8800GTX. I don't think it has anything to do with the performance of the cards, I think it was just that the 7950GX2 and the Apple screen hated each other and kept giving me DVI issues. With this 30" Apple I was using an XFX 7800GTX (no problems), then an ASUS 7950GX2 (green dots) and then an XFX 8800GTX (no problems) so it's not a performance thing but might be a manufacturer thing.

Try sticking an older graphics card in if you have one lying around. I bet your problem goes away. Maybe try and RMA your card and get the same thing but from a different manufacturer?

Did it really take this many posts to get the appropriate answer?
After seeing the screen cap vs. the camera cap it was obvious it wasn't the video card.

But funnily enough it is fixed by changing your video card to a different vendor!

It's a DVI issue, which doesn't show up in the screenshots but doesn't mean it's not the video card's fault.

It's a hardware problem issue but this could mean a number of things ranging from compatibility issues, the monitor, the cable or the card's connection to the cable etc.

"its been happening for a while now" - we talking several hours or several months or has it "never" worked properly before?

If it did work properly before "at this resolution" what did you change to introduce this problem?

If you have no idea and no patience, RMA time....
