Are these my real temps?

Just installed my first water cooling setup. Is it possible I'm getting these kind of temps? 10 degrees idle? Seems really low. This is not overclocked and the temp reading in everest are the same as the bios.

My thoery is that the digital thermal sensors that core temperatures are based on are not accurate at very low idle temperatures. With low core voltages ( 1.10 v to 1.15 v ) and low MHz I see about 3C below ambient at idle. In theory that's impossible with air cooling.

At higher temperatures where the DTS was actually designed to operate, SpeedFan 4.32 core temperatures are very accurate. Don't pay too much attention to idle temperatures. Load temperatures are much more important to keep an eye on.

try coretemp, or intel tat to get more realistic readings.

with a GOOD water cooling setup, you will see ambient idle temps, with air you won't. Being below ambient is impossible with air, and only semi-possible with a bong evap water system.

Which means your idle temperature cannot be below 15 or 17c.

I must be thinking of sticking their CPU's outside in the winter

I swear some guy had his proc below ambient with air cooling, I forgot how he did it, but it wasn't phase-change or water-cooling... It wasn't a real setup, just a joke/gimmick

that's not air cooling, lol, that would be using alternative cooling.

Well, I have been running for a while and the temps are more normal. e4300 oc'd to 3.2 ghz and it is running under load max 37 celcius.

Much happier with these temps even though they are a little higher LOL. I still have crazy low idle temps. 18-20 max idle. I love cool rooms

It's possible to cool below ambient temps with air cooling, well below ambient. Billparish through an idea out to me about using a concentrated spray of Dust-off. Spraying directly onto the cpu heatsink could very well bring the temps below ambient.

Those temps aren't realistic unless you just turned on your setup and filled it with cold water from the fridge.
